Total Disrespect 7/5/2011

My car broke down and was impounded. We went to pick it up from Westland Car Care Towing, and was treated horrible! No one told us were the car was and when I went in to ask they rudely said it was way in the back. They stuck a car that was not smashed up in the very back of the lot on top of broken glass and huge pieces of car parts. They treated me like a criminal. After this experience I would never use Westland Care Care Company for anything! more

Good service 4/4/2011

My car broke down, towed here by AAA after hours. They called me promptly the next day telling me what was wrong. Inspecting for other items, but didn't push the extra work, was more for my information. Had an idea what the repair would cost, and the quoted price was fair. No issues, my experience was good. more

Great experience 1/24/2011

I'm sorry to see that so many of you have had bad experiences here. I have taken my car here three different times for different problems and they have been nothing but amazing. They are very courteous and call multiple times while working on your car to give updates. They also explain things very well-- I don't know much about cars so they tell me in ways that help me understand much better. I will continue bringing my car here because they are really great! more

SCAM!!! SCAM!!! SCAM!!! 1/18/2011

Would not advise this garage to my worst enemies! While having my truck towed by AAA through Westland Car Care the driver suggested their repair shop. He was very helpful, and called for me to see if they could get my truck right in. Knowing what I know now I assume the drivers get commission for bringing in work. This is not the problem I have with them. The service adviser called me the next morning, and stated that one of the axle shafts had broke in half. This was the reason I needed the tow in the first place. He also told me that I needed a new wheel bearing in the other side and the total cost of the repairs was $650. I know the signs of a worn/bad wheel bearing and have not had any of the signs so I thought it was a little strange. I asked him to give me a price on only the axle shaft, the price was $210. I said fine just fix that he then told me how it was not advised to drive the truck without replacing the bearing and that the bearing could explode and the wheel could come off. He finally agreed to only repair the axle shaft. Two hours later he called me back, not to tell me that the truck was done but to say how none of his suppliers would have this part for 4 days, and the only way to get it sooner would be to get a re-manufactured part for $100 more or a dealer part for $400. I told him that four days is fine but in the mean time I would make some phone calls. I called Ray and Mike Service center in Redford which I have had really good luck with in the past and should have went there in the beginning. I told Mike my dilemma and he immediately called his suppliers and told me he could get the part the next day. I paid the $44 to Westland Car Care and told them not to touch it. I had it towed to Ray and Mike Service center and they had it done the next day also informed me that their was nothing wrong with my wheel bearings. Also, when I got the written estimate from Westland Car Care, it was not the same as what they told me over the phone. It was well over $100 more! more

BEWARE 1/7/2011

This placed should be closed down, Poor customer service, over charge customers. I was charged 80.00 for a fuel filter change and my car now has gas fumes coming from the heat vent... I asked the mechanic if I could see under the hood to see the work he was to complete and became agitated and angry, did not see under the hood as I said now car is leaking gas fumes.. I wish I read the reviews beforehand but my car broke down and AAA sent Westland Tow Co. and the driver convinced me to send my car to these bozos... Pls beware and do not patronize.. believe the negative reviews. more

poor customer service 12/13/2010

I called my automobile roadside assistance service for a tow, and they said a tow truck would arrive between 40 - 70 minutes. 75 minutes later, the towing company dispatcher called me to say they were on their way and would be another 30 minutes. A few minutes after that, roadside assistance called to see if my tow truck came, and I informed them of the call I just received. They told me to call them back if the tow truck didn't arrive. I called back three times, every 30 minutes, and each time roadside assistance called the towing company, who kept saying it'd be 30 minutes, 30 minutes, and then finally saying they weren't going to make it. Elapsed time that I spent in my broken car, at night, in below-freezing temperatures of 10F, was 3 hours. I called this morning to give management at Westland Car Care the opportunity to make the situation right, and was given the runaround by the receptionist, who did not give me her name and would not connect me to a manager. She claimed that I told roadside assistance to cancel the tow truck 90 minutes after the initial call, and argued with me when I explained to her that this was not what happened at all. When I asked why I would cancel a tow truck if I was still stranded in my car, and why roadside assistance would take three more calls from me in the meantime (do we assume they were pretending to call Westland Car Care to check up on the ETA?), she went on a rant about how this was a problem I would have to address with roadside assistance, not with them. She said that could try to tow my car this morning, but it would be a 2-3 hour wait. No apology, no remorse, and no consideration. She did say that because I was in a safe place and not injured, other calls took priority--when I asked why I wasn't told this last night, she said that she didn't work last night and couldn't answer. My repeated requests to speak to a manager were declined. If they couldn't provide service, they should have simply said so. I would have then had the opportunity to find a reliable, reputable company who could be bothered to fulfill their commitment. more

the worst garage 2/17/2010

My car had some problems about alternator, and stalled at the outlet of the freeway.I called AAA, it said westland car care could provide 12 months guarateen of this kind of repair. So I decided to tow it to there. On monday, they gave me a call and said they checked the car. i needed to change the alternator and belt, the cost was more than $600. I said it was too expensive, then they reduced the cost to $485. I called to firestone, speedy and midas, their prices were both lower than that. So I decided to tow my car to another place to repair. The rediculous thing happened. When AAA knew i wanted to tow my car from this garage to another place, she gave a call to westland car care, and then said that the value of my car is lower than that of kkb, AAA didn't tow this kind of car.I don't know why. more

Biggest crooks in Westland..Be warned..! ! 7/19/2009

My girlfriend was driving my truck when an upper ball joint failed. I was at work so I contacted triple AAA and they came and got the the vehicle. The vehicle had to be repaired so Westland car care provided the towing for AAA. They stated they could do the repair and I agreed to have the vehicle towed there. The next day they called me stating both upper/front ball joints needed replacement. They stated that I should go with the higher quality part and gave me a ridiculous estimate of $600.00. I then asked what it would cost for the so-called inferior ball joint. The employees attitude changed very quicly and got disgruntled because I did not want the higher cost repair. The price they were charging for the parts was tripled and then lied about the lower cost parts not being covered under a lifetime mfr warranty.I did research on the parts and could not find that part with the same cost (even with the normal mark-up) and no mfr warranty. I ended repairing the truck with lower cost parts at a total of 400.00. I then asked if an oil change could be performed and he stated it was not a problem. Finally when I came to pick up the vehicle he then stated that the oil change could not be performed cause the oil plug was modified and the skid plates were in the way. I then took the vehicle to a GoodYear auto center where the oil change was done in 15 minutes with no mention of any problems. These guys are extremely dishonest and will charge u triple the cost for parts and are out to rip people off with the help of a triple AAA towing contract. I am an aircraft mechanic and have always done all my my own repairs..unfortunately I was tied up and could not do them myself so I learned my lesson about Westland Car Care. Pros: They were conveinently helpful to offer service. Cons: They will tell u one thing and do another. more

The Worst Business Ever 5/4/2009

I wouldn't have given them any stars, but you have to give at least 1 star in order to publish a review. So, Here's the story........ My brother's car (covered under my AAA policy) broke down. I called AAA to send a tow truck for my brother's car which, again, it is covered by my policy. The driver from Westland Car Care Center shows up to tow. I hand him my card, and he begins to make a big deal about the fact that it's my card, and my brother's car. After explaining to him that his car is on my policy he continued to make a big deal about it. Now let me remind you that AAA sent Westland Car Care Center to pick up my brother's car (his car's description) and with my name as the insurance policy holder. Now having reminded you the reader of this, the tow truck driver continued to make a big deal about it and obviously wasn't intelligent enough to grasp the situation. I told him to do his job, and he told me to F*ck off and drove away. I think the real problem was that we weren't having it towed to their facility, but a competitors facility and they didn't like that.......so they left us stranded. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I spoke with the manager of Westland Car Care Center, and while telling him the story, he began to scream at me saying ""who the f*ck do you think you are to talk to me this way""! I think the problem is that they are all non-english speaking and are not fully understanding what is being said to them. They think they can get away with doing dirty business. I notified AAA of the incidence of course, and they dispatched another tow truck, Gardner Towing (who was excellent & very professional). I hope AAA is smart enough to stop approving Westland Car Care Center after the significant amount of bad reviews. Pros: At least we are not mandated to go there Cons: Bad Attitudes, nasty, unprofessional & they rip you off more
