I am related to the owner....(not by blood or choice)....and he is the worst owner ever. People have been swindled by James including me- supposedly "family". Do not go here. Luckily they are bankrupt and on the verge of closing. Best news about this store so far. more

I've never left a rating on any store in my life, but this one deserves it. I had a horrible experience. The sales girl sold me a dress and said we could alter it to my size, so I paid for the dress. The seamstresses REFUSED to alter it. After arguing with the seamstresses, they agreed to alter it. I went in on multiple occasions to have the dress re-fitted and re-fitted because each time it looked horrible. Finally, my mom just redid the entire dress for me, but I was forced to pay for the alterations even though it was just horrible. The customer service was horrible. James is the worst owner of any business - completely unreachable and doesn't respond at all. I hated everything about my experience. more

DO NOT EVER go to Walker's Brides Emporium. Like other reviewers, my experience was awful. We went in on 2/5/11 to look at bridesmaid and flower girls dresses for a wedding on 4/7/11. We were told by James (the owner) that it would be hard to get them here in time, so he would have them made onsite by his seamstresses and it would be no problem. He said he'd need measurements from all bridesmaids and flowergirls-15 dresses in all. I had all but 1 bridesmaid and 3 flower girls there on 2/9/11 for measurements. Was told I'd receive an email confirming the order and would need to pay at that time. I emailed w/ a rep a couple of times between 2/9 & 2/14. Was told I didn't need to do anything else yet and to enjoy my Valentine's day. Called on 2/19 to try to pay for dresses and had to leave a message. Didn't get a return call or text for a few days. Got a text that James was out sick with his family and would call me later in the week. Got a call on 2/25 that James would call the next day. Never called. I called him on 2/28 and spoke with him. He assured me all was well. My fiance and I went in and paid for the bridesmaid dresses. Continued to email about the flower girl dresses. I had surgery on 3/9 and was told late that night by my fiance that James had not ordered ANY dresses yet, but that James said it was no problem, I should focus on recovery and not to worry. We went to the shop on the afternoon of 3/11 to pay for flower girl dresses that he'd been avoiding taking a CC number on. Met with James for a few minutes and he again indicated everything will be fine, don't worry. Numerous unreturned phone calls and a few texts and emails transpired without a firm date on delivery. Promised "no problem" the whole time. Received an email from James on 3/31/11 (1 WEEK before our wedding) that he has "cancelled" our order due to personal problems and my fiance's "attitude" and will provide a refund. I suspect the dresses were NEVER even ordered. The only thing James did right was actually refund the money more

Good: Good selection of dresses. Bad: Ordered dresses 1/11/11 and it is now 6/4/11 Still no dresses!!! Wedding is in 3 weeks. James promised my daughter the dresses would be here 4/16/11, so all the bridesmaids could get fitted and the dresses altered before they went home for the summer. No one at the store has contacted me in 5 months!!! I've left a message everyday for the past 5 days and no one calls me back. I've requested a refund and I was told, "We don't have a return policy" to which I replied, "I DON'T HAVE AN DRESSES TO RETURN. Improvements: TRUTHFULNESS!! Someone call me and tell me what is going on, don't give clients the runaround!! Offer a refund, free alteration, free shipping or something. Ignoring a client who has paid over $1,000 for dresses shouldn't be treated like this.. Other: DO NOT BUY DRESSES FROM THIS STORE. The owner does not keep his promises, does not return phone calls. I've contacted my credit card company to help me get my money back. Also going to report to Better Business Bureau and State Attorney's office. more

Going here was the worst possible decision i have made. James Walker is the owner and he is the most conceded individual i have ever met. We buy a dress and mark and my fiance is just waiting to get her shoes so she can get it hemmed. While we are waiting they call her and tell her that they have sold her dress and that she now needs to try and fit into a size 4 instead of the 2 that we ordered. When we went in there the first time they said that it would take 6 months to order a dress so we thought that that was our only option. We went in there and James proceeded to talk over and make my fiance cry. He used is age and manipulated and cornered her to cry and convince her that she would not fit a size 2 when she had already tried it on 3 different times. He told us to not come in there and disrespect him in his shop and that in life you don't always get what you want. I am pretty sure when you pay for something you get exactly what you want or you don't pay for it. I would never want this to happen to anyone else that is why i am posting this. James thinks very highly of himself.. DO NOT GO TO THE EMPORIUM! more

We ordered one of the most expensive dresses in the store, the wrong dress arrived a month late, a week before the wedding! The store ower, James Walker, told us we were just out of luck and although he promised a refund, we never recieved it. We're having to go to court. more

Do I have to give them a rating? HORRIBLE SERVICE and the owner is smug. I went in yes without an appointment. I went and asked first if I could still be helped. They said yes. I understand it was a Saturday, but I only saw one other bride in the store. I was told I would work with Rachel. She brought me two dresses and a bustier. She had my mom help me, which was different than any other store. I tried on the first dress and I did not like it on me, so I went and tried on the second. She never even saw me in the first dress at all. The dresses looked very nice, however the service was so bad, I would never tell anyone to come here. I told the owner it was the worst service I ever received and he said it was because it is their busiest day and there were kids running around. Are you kidding? My sisters came with me to try on dresses and they have kids. WOW--owner walked my family out of the store. I told him I was at 3 other dress stores that day and this was the worst service yet!!! NEVER GO HERE!!! more

This company has horrible service. NEVER GO HERE!!! The worker named Rachel is not helpful and when addressing the issue to the owner, he said it was because there were children in the store. Are you kidding. The kids were being taken care by their moms. The owner followed us out of the store not even apologizing for us receiving the worst service. What made it horrible service? Yes, I walked in and asked if they take walk-ins. They said sure, Rachel said well I guess you are with me. She had my mom help me with the bustier, and then my mom helped me try on the dresses, because she was no where in site. I tried on the second outfit and she came over once my sister asked if anyone was helping me. Horrible service!!! NEVER GO HERE--HORRIBLE SERVICE. I am telling everyone I know of not to come here. more

Ignoring the ridiculously pretensious name: ("Emporium?" Please.) Walker's Bridal is a great place to look for your wedding dress. Expect to be very well taken care of at Walkers. The employees are courteous, professional, helpful and human. I went there a number of times looking for my wedding dress, and they were just as sweet and helpful each time. They even tried to help me save money by showing me the gowns on sale first. While trying on dresses, they gave good advice and insight. Their in-house seamstress does excellent alterations at a reasonable price, and is cute and fun to talk to while simultaneously stabbing you with pins. I hope I won't have to do it again, but if I ever needed another wedding dress, I'd go to Walkers! more

Walkers' has a nice selection of bridal gowns and is conviently located on center street in Provo (i.e. easy to get to but sometimes a hard place to find parking). I went bridal gown shopping with my cousin at Walkers' and was impressed with the friendly staff. The selection in her size (size 2) was limited but that is common among bridal shops. Prices were comparable to other shops we looked at. The ambience is great, lighting is a little dark. In the end, we went to a different shop and found the perfect dress but were glad we went to Walkers. more

If you're looking for that bridal dress that no one else will have, then Walker's Brides Emporium is the place for you. They have a great selection of gowns for your wedding and formal event. They offer a number of different sizes for women of all types. They are priced just a little lower than some of the larger chain stores. They also offer alterations right there in the store. However do not buy any of their accessories such as jewelry or shoes they are way overpriced! more

When I was engaged, I did not live in Utah, but I was visiting for a week and went to Walker's to look for my wedding dress. They treated me like a princess from the minute I walked through the door! They helped me pick out several gowns in my size, and I got to stand up on a pedestal to "display" the different dresses to my family. After I selected my dress, they helped me choose a veil that complimented it, complete with a tiara! :) I also got shoes and my bridal jewelry there. They were able to perform the alterations on site. To this day I love my wedding dress and I look back on that experience with fond memories. The only downfall was when they actually shipped my dress to me. I waited for that day with a lot of anticipation and couldn't wait to show the dress off to my friends. When it arrived, it was someone else's dress!! I had to find out who they had shipped my dress to and ship her dress to her and wait again for mine to come! In the end, it all worked out, though. more

I was close to being engaged, and a friend was in the same boat. We decided we wanted to try on some wedding dresses to get a head start. We ended up at Walker's Bridal Emporium. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They seemed focused on making sure we found the dresses of our dreams. They did not seem rushed and took as much time as we needed. There were many modestly cut dresses (sometimes hard to find!) They were also very reasonably priced. Look here and you very well may find THE dress that will be perfect for your wedding. more
