I don't go for ""fine dining"" I go for the best Vinnie Pie 2/16/2012

I was introduced to Vincent's Pizza when I was just a little girl around 9yrs old. I would fight my older brothers for the pizza! The size was enormous to me! I had never been to any place like this before. From the outside the curb appeal is well NOT GOOD...when you get inside you don't know what to expect. I come from Beaver county where everything on the main street is for the prissy people and we have the best of the best! We have lines of people dying to get a table for Mario's pizza and I'm like hey I'd like to eat there but I'd much rather have a Vinnie Pie! I don't go there for atmosphere, or great customer service I go to eat and have good pizza. If you are the kind that doesn't like a little dust on your table or you like a great dining experience then I suggest just getting takeout! If you don't want alot of saltyness do not order pepperoni for your first pizza...get mushroom or extra cheese. Plain chees is amazing. I don't know what that person was saying about mushrooms from a can! I've had Vincen's pizza recently and I know for a fact that these mushrooms are NOT from a can or jar! The ingredients are all real and they use block cheese and shredd it themselves. Everything is fresh and quality. If you are a health nut...this is NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU...the pizza is delicious but greasy and full of toppings and they serve very large portions. The crust is hit and miss, you either like it because you are a crust lover or you don't because there is too much for you. This is a place for people who care about the PIZZA PIES AND NOT THE DINING EXPERIENCE...Not for the people who want a nice quiet family dinner or romantic place to go. More like a place to kick back with friends and have a beer. Best pizza I've ever had! Hands down Vincent's is the best I've ever had! more

What a let down,,,really terrible, 10/10/2011

My husband and I were taking my 8 year old grandaughter home last Sunday and thought we would stop and treat her to some Vincent's Pizza. We stopped at the Forest Hills restaurant. We ate Vincents before, but not at this location in years. The first impression getting out of your car--is the fear of falling because the outside entrance is in bad shape. We ordered a large pizza with mushrooms. When it arrived--I had to pick the food off my fork from the previous customers..(yum). The pizza had huge crust--which was very doughy and under cooked. The mushrooms were from a can and all the juice from them were under the pizza. It was so bad. When we left, my grandaugher told us that the pizza wasn't very good. 8 year olds review was right on. We took some of the crust out to the car and my dog wouldnt even eat it. We will never go back there again. Save your money---go to another location or another pizza restaurant. Oh..the place is dirty and dingy on top of the nasty pizza. more

When it's good it's fantastic, when it's bad it's horrible! 7/23/2011

I've been going to Vincents since 1976 and my parents went there when they were dating. I usually go to the Plum Boro location (up on the hill behind Burger King) however I prefer the Forest Hills location. I still remember Vince covered with flour tossing pies in the air with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth. Forest Hills location used to have an hour or more wait Friday and Saturday nights but you waited because it was the best pizza you could find anywhere. No longer, when Vince franchised out and quit working the store, the quality and consistency went downhill fast. I still go to both outlets when I'm in the area but I no longer drive over an hour just to get a pie. The service is bad at both locations but good customer service as a standard business practice no longer exists in most retail businesses. The Plum Boro outlet is more family friendly than the Forest Hills location but Forest Hills has better pizza. The ingredients are still consistant but the assembly of the pie's and amount of each topping has dropped. At both locations your pie will either be overcooked or undercooked (overcooked is better). Both locations as a rule have better pizza's than we have in Indiana Pa. Even with over 10 pizza shops in a college town, the best pizza we can get is still Vincent's, although I do make a pretty good pizza myself at home. But if you are looking for a good pizza and are in the area, give Vincent's a try. more

Pizza at Vincents 11/4/2010

I went to this place thinking will have a good pizza. But my expectations were all gone downhill. I ordered for a 6"" pizza. What I got was a pizza pie with very salty toppings. Saltier than any of the other places I have ever had. In addition to that, the base of the pizza was soaked in water. I never had such a terrible pizza in my life. Staff service was also not good.I will never go back there. Its just a waste of money. more

GREAT PIZZA - Try the Green Pepper, Onion and Mushroom! 12/28/2008

The photo for Vincent's does not do the place any justice as the building has been painted and does not look that badly. There was only one waitress in the dining area, but an off-duty cheery employee decided to help out since she was there to watch the game. The pizza is excellent! Period. We went to eat great pizza and that's exactly what we got! Great pizza and not so bad service for only one waitress on duty. If you want to experience an awesome pizza, by all means, GO! Pros: Fresh dough and tons of ingredients on the pizza Cons: Not a source of DIET FOOD more

End of an Era.... 10/23/2008

As previous posters have related, Vincents' in Forest Hills has completely fallen apart since Vince stopped running the business. The young guy (Vinces' son???) who answers the phone and makes the pies is just the worst kind of person you would ever want fronting a business. Where Vince may have had comtempt for his customers (as most owners of restaurants do...believe it) he concealed it....mostly. Vinnies replacement doesn't hide the fact that he hates what he's doing, hates you, would rather be doing anything that what he's doing and thinks you're a pathetic, mouthbreathing tard for bothering him, which is fine if you work for the County, but when you're the face of the business, its fatal. As a result of the recent spike in the price of, well, everything, the size of the pies has shrunk along with the amount of the toppings. A little tip here, don't mess with a successful product. Raise the price and know people are willing to pay for quality no matter how much they whine about it. Now where was I...horrid attitudes, declining product....oh yeah, I would highly recommend getting your pie to go. If the funk don't freak you out, the fear of the building falling down while your eating could be distracting. I got 100 bucks that says there's no way, NO WAY, the business passes it's next visit from the Health inspector......I'll always argue that Vinnie made the best pie in Pittsburgh history. Unfortunately, that's all it is...history. Pros: great memories Cons: see above more

What happened? The dirties place I have ever been to! Wow. 10/7/2008

The pizza is still okay, but the place is so dirty you can no longer eat there. It smelled so bad last time we had to leave. First we moved to a different table thinking it was a bad spot but, then we just left. The pizza was good but, it will be our last trip there. I have been going there since the 80's. Vincent wasn't exactly a clean place ever, but a sewer smell is too much and it is way more dirty now than ever. What a shame. Pros: Pizza okay Cons: Filthy! more

The Children of Vincent running his business will crumble it just like the crust 7/28/2008

SInce Vincent the owner retired the place has gotten bad an worst every day. Its ashame because when Vincent was there the pizza was out of this world. Now its being run by his children an its terrible. they dont give a dam attitude will bring what Vincent worked so hard for to nothing. I know Vincent personally as a kid growing up an seeing Vincent when i would deliver newspapers . That was back in 1972.. Now the kids running the place are ignorant B I T C H ES and B A S T A R D S.. The dirty f u c k e r s are destroyin what Vincent has made a historical place of Pizza....... The spoiled badly greedy kids of Vincent who run the place will choke on their greedyness an soon Vincent will be a memory......What took Vincent almost 40 years to create will be gone in 3 years Pros: able to leave Cons: Stinky,,, s h i tt y service,,pizza nasty.. kids terrible more

FILTHY>>>FILTHY>>>FILTHY 6/2/2008

I have been to Vinny's many times and I used to enjoy their pizza but lately its been on the unedible side, it's been burnt or there is so much cheese (which sometimes is a good thing) but it doesn't seem cooked. Next is the cleanliness of the Pittsburgh establishment. The dining room floors are filthy and the bathrooms, let me just say if your're going to eat there DON""T go to the bathroom before you eat. You will lose your appetite!!! The toilets are always clogged which results in an unpleasant odor, if you catch my drift. Stay away.... Cons: Bathrooms, Service more

Great Pizza WOW 5/12/2008

We had heard of this pizza from friends, so we decided to try it out. My whole family loved it, there was so much, toppings pizza, everything. even the salad. I read on the reviews to make sure shelly was making the pizza's, and she was. Just great. great service too. and man was that place busy. We will be back again, that's for sure. more

Very Poor Customer Service 5/5/2008

I'm very tired of spending my hard earned money in establishments that are less than coutious and unwilling to make amends when the give poor service or a poor quality of the product they sell. I've experienced this poor service at multiple McDonalds, KFC's, and Rita's Italian Ice establishments. This evening I yet had to go through it again with Vincent's Pizza Park in Pittsburgh. I called to order and the order taker was very SHORT and acted as though I was bothering him. I still put my order in because I really enjyed there pizza, BAD MOVE!!! My sister and I went to pick up the pizza and still experienced this less than courtous employee who again, acted as though we were 2nd class citizens. We took the pizza home and it was one of the worse pizza's i've had. Now mind you, Vincent's is known for their pizza, it's a very good pie and is known for being very greasy, a eat at your own risk type of food. Well, I knew this because of eating there in the past but again, never really had a problem and really enjoyed the food. Well after being so upset when we got home and started eating the pie that tasted like it had been cooked and then re heated and sold, the pepperoni was chewy as though it was old. I called back and got the shift supervisor. He was basically just as short as the order taker and agrued back and forth with me saying what do you want me to do about it. I told him that I'm calling to make you aware of the poor experience I had after buying his product and that i wasn't trying to get a free pizza. It's like that was supposed to be the band aid to cover the wound. I'm sick of spending my HARD EARNED MONEY in establishments that treat you like a 2nd class citizen and don't even try to apologize but, will be quick to give you an excuse. Please, someone tell me what happened to think customer 1st or the customer is always right because lately i've been made to feel that I'm wrong for asking for quality and courtious service. more

Best pizza. Ever. 10/21/2007

I grew up going to ""Wednesday pizza nights"" at my grandma's house with Vincents pizza. Nothing in the world compares to it. I usually eat healthy, but this is one exception I am more than willing to make because it is worth it. If you haven't been there you HAVE to go!!! I can't say enough good things about the pizza! Pros: Everything!!! The best pizza you will ever have! Cons: none. more

Best pizza anywhere 7/7/2007

I've been to Vincent's and I've loved it every time. I've been living in Los Angeles for the last 11 years and they have no idea regarding good pizza. I'll write more soon, but I want to know, how can I get a pie delivered here? Someone mentioned that in her review, but I can't find an official website for Vincen't so I can do it too. Help. It's what I've been craving forever! more

The Vinnie Pie...Best in the Universe 7/7/2007

When I was a high school student in the Cleveland area in the early 1980s, a group of friends of mine and I would pile in a car and drive to get a Vinnie Pie, then pile a bunch of half-bakes in the trunk for the return trip home. The Vinnie Pie was the best ever. Dial ahead to 2007 and we'll keep the enthusiasm short and sweet...NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!! It's still the best pie ever, even if Vinnie isn't slapping 'em out anymore or adding the extra ""ingredient"" of the end of his cigarette. To those who would dump on the place for being a dive I would say this...get over yourself. The place is refreshingly low brow. The decor hasn't changed since the first time I had a Vinnie Pie. And who gives a hoot if you stick to the seats, the pie would be a bargain at twice the price. I've felt the Vinnie Pie has been the gold standard of pizza for the last 25 years...here's hoping for at least another 25. Long live the Vinnie Pie!!! Pros: What else...it's a Vinnie Pie Cons: Whatever cons there are, don't be a jagoff, just enjoy the pie!!! more

Never had a better pizza 2/4/2007

I only get to the Burgh about once a year since moving to Miami, and I have to tell you that this is one of the first stops we make. You have to make at least one trip to Vincent's while visiting. The pizza crust is thick and chewy, the sauce is excellent, and the toppings. . . .oh, the toppings! To watch them make this pizza is a wonder. Handfuls - literally - of everything you order go on the pie. Fresh mushrooms, sliced pepperoni piled high (not the regular round cut pepperoni), huge pieces of sausage. . . and never mind the need to order extra cheese. Everything is extra here! A medium pie will generously feed 4 people and leave you stuffed! It was a challenge for me to eat 1 1/2 slices of this delight. And the price is more than reasonable. Unlike some pizzas, this is still great microwaved later, but you must get it fresh to experience pure pleasure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. . . Vincents is a dive and doesn't look like much from inside - or out. But what they lack in atmosphere, they more than make up for in the greatest pizza on earth. You realize that if you call a pizza place and they say that your pizza will be ready in 10 minutes, something has to be wrong there - just another assembly line pizza ready to be downed and forgotten. This is a pie you will definitely remember. more
