First of all, the place was cold. The service was okay. I was really surprised that they had a list of 20+ sauces but no one mentioned anything to us about picking sauces. Howe...

amazing food 3/16/2008

Vesta has somenthing different from any other restaurant.\r The food is diverse from other restaurant.\r The dipping sauces are a great idea.\r The service is above average and the atmosphere is vibrant.\r You will love it. Pros: very different more

Loves it! 3/13/2008

I have been to Vesta numerous times and the food is always fantastic. I'm a big fan of the samosas for appetizers. The corn dipping sauce that comes with is delicious! Highly recommended! more

Good food, but you're really paying for a trendy atmosphere 2/27/2008

The food is good, but not $25+ per entree good. This is basically a typical Lodo restaurant where they have an upscale/trendy atmosphere so they can get away with over-charging. While the food is good, you can easily make anything on the munu better than they do if you know how to use a grill. I suppose it's a nice place to take groups who want to be entertained and feel like they are being trendy. But if you're looking for a great meal of grilled meat, just stay in and do it yourself. Pros: good for people who like to be trendy, good food Cons: overpriced, food good but not amazing more

incredible dining experience on all levels 2/25/2008

I am very picky about food. I won't say that I'm like Anton Ego from Ratatouille, but I will say that I don't bother to eat something that isn't worth the time to taste. Also, since we don't have a lot of money, being able to go out to eat is a luxury that we save up and plan for, and we better find the experience as a whole worth the expenditure. I want to be catered to, and treated well. On both of these counts, I have never had a dining experience better than I did at Vesta Dipping Grill last night for Restaurant Week. I had the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Salad, with the Grilled Hangar Steak, and Chocolate Cake. The chocolate cake had ancho chili in it which was surprising, spicy and oddly nice, the salad was rich, salty, and still ""healthy"" for certain definitions of healthy (my definition), and the steak was tenderloin quality, with spinach so good that I will have to redefine my view of vegetables. In addition to the quality of the food, I also liked the Chef's Taste at the beginning, sort of a little mini appetizer to tempt us into coming back to try all the things that weren't on the menu for the night. Finally, and I cannot say enough about this, the customer service was incredible. I had made reservations through OpenTable and, perhaps owing to my being an idiot on the computer, the reservations, for whatever reason did not go through, which I learned when I called to confirm. Not only did the manager come on the phone and correct the situation the night before, but personally took care of our table the following night, in addition to the regular wait staff who were also exemplary. Not only did we not have an empty glass or plate the whole time, but they took care of my 2 year old, making sure that her meal came out at the right time to prevent tantrums or toddler boredom, which any parent out with a child can appreciate. We will be returning to the Vesta often, and I would and will recommend this restaurant to everyone I know in or out of town. Pros: FOOD, FOOD, FOOD, Customer Service incredible, ambience was really neat too more

WAY over hyped, decent food, kind of cramped seating 2/18/2008

We read that this place was *SOOO* great, and supposed to be really romantic, so we decided to finally check it out. I don't know what I was expecting, but the food was decent, really nothing spectatcular. The website makes the restaurant look bigger and better than it actually is. The seating is a bit cramped, and it isn't as cozy as you think it might be from the photos you'll see online. \r \r Maybe it was way too hyped for me? If you really want an extra special evening, this isn't the place. Its fine for some good food maybe pre-baseball game, but nothing spectacular. Pros: Good food Cons: Small spaces to sit (except if you get a booth), way over hyped as trendy more

Good Ole Vesta 11/27/2007

We have been going to Vesta for years and it is always excellent. The roasted chicken is fantastic and all the sauces are so much fun! This is a great restaurant to bring out-of-towners or just have a nice evening out yourself! Pros: Sauces, overall quality of the food, drink options Cons: parking, can be long waits without reservations more

Great Food 9/22/2007

The food was great and it was fun for a group of people. We really enjoyed the different food and the varied menu. more

Fantastic! 9/21/2007

I have been coming to Vesta for about 2 years now and I have never been disappointed, not with anything, so I figured it was about time that I shout it from the rooftops! The superior seared Ahi! The succulent venison! Everything on the menu simply melts in your mouth and makes for one of the best meals you will ever enjoy. The atmosphere is trendy, but not too pretentious. The location is excellent, even though parking can be a challenge. The wait staff is composed of very highly educated and professional people who are always pleasant and accommodating. The last time we dined at Vesta Rob was our server, and he was such a wonderful addition to our experience. He was informative, very personable, highly skilled, and seemed to be a sincerely great person. We have also had the pleasure of being waited on by Chris and also Kyle, both of these gentleman are just as spectacular, so pleasant and personable! Thank you Vesta, for always being on top of your game. Your chefs are excellent, your servers are perfect, and your atmosphere is light and fun. These guys really know what it takes to make a fine restaurant and a perfect night out. Denver's best! Pros: Everything from beginning to end! more

Great service as usual, great handsells 8/20/2007

I have been going to Vesta for several years to enjoy dinner or the special occasion. On my most recent visit with my girlfriend, we started at the bar where we always receive prompt and doting attention. Many of the bartenders have been working at Vesta for years and one of them, Kari-I believe-immediately recognized us, which was surprising because we're not exactly regulars. We didn't have a reservation and the wait for a table was about an hour, but we didn't mind because hanging out at the bar can kind of be a warm-up to the main event, enjoying an appetizer, cocktail and conversation with the bartenders. We tried the vesta roll-an old stand-by-and the new rock shrimp tempura, both were great. We were showed to our table where our server mentioned that in addition to the wine list, there are often handsold bottles of wine available. I asked about them and from a list of diverse offerings, I chose a unique Pinot Noir from Santa Rita Hills, CA. The wine paired greatly with the venison and flatiron entrees we enjoyed, but tasted that much better with the knowledge that we were drinking a special bottle from two young winemakers I had read about. I would definitely encourage anyone to ask about the handsells... Vesta has always impressed us, but it seems that there is always something new to get into there and that's nice to know when a dining experience can often just be business as usual. One secret that I don't mind mentioning is that while we were in the mood for a table on this visit, my girlfriend and I often opt for dinner at the bar where the action and people-watching provides quite a deal of entertainment. Thanks Vesta! Pros: Upscale casual dining without an attitude. more

I love Vesta, so it really hurts me to say this... 7/16/2007

It broke my heart not to be able to give Vesta all 5 stars...\r My husband and I have been dining at this great place for a few years, actually we met there, so it's a very special place for us. For years we've received above stellar service. We've dined in the dining room and at the bar, and have always been treated like royalty by the entire staff. We never worried when we saw new faces because we were sure Vesta only hired the cream of the crop. A few weeks ago though, we went in for dinner and sat at the bar. We've never, ever had such a bad time at this restaurant. We left disappointed withough complaining because maybe it was just an ""off"" night. We came back the next week and again the bartender, a man with a dark beard and tattoos, gave us the exact same treatment. He completely ignored us, and instead focused all his attention on a group of single girls at the end of the bar. He was slow to take our order, we felt like we had to flag him down to get his attention. When he finally brought us our mojitos, a common drink, they were terrible! We ended up with a glass of wine and a beer instead. Our food was delicious, as always, it almost made up for the rest of the experience. At the end of our meal we decided to give him another chance and ordered two lemon drops - drinks we've had there before and enjoyed, and again, a very common drink. It was almost comical how long it took for him to make them, and with all the effort they were just so different from when we've had them there in the past. I think the rudeness of this particular person left us with an overall bad taste in our mouths.\r \r This is oddly uncharacteristic of this restaurant, and I'm sad to even be complaining. Normally, Vesta offers service that surpasses any I've experienced in my travels around the world...I hope these two experiences are not a sign of where they are headed.\r \r As always the food was phenomenal. We are seriously considering ordering our food to go in the future.\r \r :(\r \r more

Denver's Best Fondue Restaurant! 6/29/2007

Traveling with a group? This place is a sure bet! The best place to have a 2 hour long dinner with friends, family, business...etc.. The extensive wine menu helps alot. The dessert menu is Top of the Town! more

I love Chutney ! 5/30/2007

I love ethnic food and I love different kinds of chutney. But you can go to Little India for about 1/4 of the price and get the same type of food. This place is loud and ridiculous. The service is fine and the food is okay but I wouldn't waste your time or money unless you are a ""scenester"" from the suburbs and feel like ""going out in the big city"". Cons: loud, scenesters, more

Great Date Night 5/8/2007

Me and my wife went here last friday. The food was amazing!! I loved the sauces and will be back. I did not have any dessert. more

Sauce Heaven 3/23/2007

Though it was the middle of the week we were having a girl?s night out. We were all pretty indecisive about where to go until I suggested Vesta. We arrived without a reservation and had a little bit of a wait in the bar. We had a round of drinks, with some very helpful wine suggestions from the bartender. We were finally sat and everything from then on was great. Our server was on point that night, she was full of smiles, had great knowledge and very good timing. We skipped appetizers, to save room for our favorite apple dessert, and went straight for dinner. We all tried to have something different but there were a few tunas around the table. We did agree to try several different sauces so we all ordered something different with our meals and there was about 20 sauces being passed around the table. I highly suggest the sweet chili ginger and the pepper aioli, they were the favorites. For dessert we of course had an apple but we also tried some gelatos, what great flavors and we also got sauces with dessert. Vesta came through again, what a great start to our night. Every time we eat here we always end up asking each other why we don?t come more often. Pros: Great food, fun atmosphere Cons: usually a wait if you don't have reservations more

Great food, poor service 3/17/2007

We had dined at Vesta for our belated Valentine's dinner. This was our second visit to the restuarant and had enjoyed our first experience. This visit however was less then memorable. The food we ordered was delicous and very enjoyable, unfortunately the service ruined the dinner. We were seated promptly but then waited ten minutes before being greeted by our server and then waited some more for our drink order. When drinks arrived my wine was warm, and our server dropped it off and was to be seen another several minutes later to take our order which we had to call him over to ask if we could place our order. After that we never saw our server again and when we did he approached us in a ""did you need something?"" manner but never asked or checked to see if we really did we always had to call him over. The restuarant was not busy at this time at all and the only thing that keeps this review afloat is that the food was wonderful. I am not sure how eager we will be to return since the service towards us was so poor we can go without the great food. Pros: Food the unique style of the restaurant Cons: Noisy, poor service more

One of the favorites 1/19/2007

Vesta Dipping Grill is one of my favorite restaurants in Denver. I love the deemed lights and the candle light without the white table cloth. The inside of the building is very contemporary and unusual in a funky king-of-way. The wonderful presentation, yummy dishes and the combination of sauces make the food taste like something out of this world. Before dining at Vesta, I would have never thought of dipping my venison in a Dried Berry Chutney and Smoked Pinaple sauce, but now I can't get enough! Pros: Everything more

Best Food and Service Combo EVER (period) 10/17/2006

I travel a lot for work. I also tend to pick where the staff and I will eat after a long day's work. We've all eaten at some very fine places in the past few years of travels to just about every major city in the US. \r \r Our experience at the Vesta Dipping Grill was the apex of our experiences thus far. Arriving with all of our gear and no reservations, we were treated well from the start. We sidled up to the bar and were served with vigor and a smile - very promptly. We were seated in about an hour. just as the host promised - not bad considering the size of the establishment, which has the feel of an urban studio - rustic brick walls, low light, and eclectic modern styling - plus a ""semi""-performance kitchen that wafts some wonderful smells and sounds from the rear of the house.\r \r Once seated, our waiter Josh, was informative, and most pleasantly, paid full attention to us - not looking around the room as waitstaff often does. His demeanor was calming - and relaxed us all. Even the person that explained the sauces gave us a good vibe. I would hope that whatever they teach the staff at the Vesta Dippping Grill could be taught as a college course! The host even offered to take some of our gear and stow it for us. \r \r I know...what about the food! Well, It was fantastic! One of the best things was the grits and roasted corn that came with the bass. The miso dipping sauce was very nice. There isn't anything on the menu that we found not excellent! \r \r Keep up the great service and the incredible food - and thanks for calling the cab for us! Pros: Service is unparalleled more

Not that great 10/9/2006

I went here expecting the ""best restaurant in Denver"" and it was far from it. I got the half chicken which was already soaked in too many spices and flavors that there was really no point in dipping it in anything. It was just a little too salty for me. Overall, this place is too expensive for what you get. Pros: Cute atmosphere Cons: small portions, icky food more

No major complaints. 10/3/2006

Me and my wife ate here for one of our honeymoon dinners while we were in dinner. I chose this place because of the unique dipping sauce idea that I read about, I'm a MAJOR dipper. We were quite impressed by the ambiance, lighting, tables, etc. It was quite a long wait to get our entrees, at least 45 minutes. Our service was decent, nothing spectacular, we didn't really receive that much attention I guess since we only ordered waters (we did apps and drinks next door before hand). I was quite excited when we recieved roasted garlic with our pre dinner bread, something different, but it wasn't that exciting. I ordered the flat iron steak, my wife odered the chili seared tuna for entrees. My steak was quite good, but I wished I had chosen my own dipping sauces rather than the ones suggested in the menu. I actually liked my wife's tuna more, which was very good! I guess overall it was an impressive meal, but as far as the food, it was nothing that left me wanting to run out and reccomend it to people. Pros: Dipping sauces, ambience Cons: Long wait for entree more

Consistently good food 9/25/2006

Have been to Vesta many times, date or big celebration. The service is always great and so is the food...not that Vesta needs another good review. Very good food and very good service...rare to find both at one place. Pros: Great food, atmosphere and service Cons: Can't think of one. more
