Food wasn't bad. Delivery was fast but the driver spilled the container in the bag which was messy. I thought the pot stickers would have been better, pretty dry. I'm likely to order from here again to try other dishes. more

Went Veggie 8/3/2011

Tried to be healthy and go veggie. The food was pretty good, had the Rainbow Veggie, but it was over salted. The crowd was mostly students and parking was a little tough. If you plan to go AVOID at lunch and try an early dinner. more

I'm sure the people who run Veggie Heaven have good hearts, as they always have free rice for the many homeless people on the Drag, but they are not the bubbly, friendly, smiley type of people who serve you. That said, the food is great and decently priced. I've been coming here for 8 years and I will definitely keep coming back. Pros: yummy Cons: less than friendly more

This is my number 1 favorite restaurant in the city of Austin, as well as the entire country. They offer the BEST vegan food anywhere. They're food is super cheap and they're menu is huge. It's nice to feel assured that everything you're eating is vegan! EAT HERE. Pros: Food, price Cons: nothing more

Unassuming but excellent Asian vegetarian place! 6/15/2009

As a UT student, I walked past Veggie Heaven numerous times without ever trying it. Years later, I finally visited Veggie Heaven at the suggestion of a friend. What a surprise! What this meat-eater thought would just be ""rabbit food"" turns out to be the yummiest presentation of tofu and soy I've ever had! The oddly-named ""Protein 2000"" is like a very good vegetarian sesame chicken. The Four Seasons tofu is an excellent sweet and spicy tofu and green bean dish. Don't miss the kitschy $5 Veggie Heaven t-shirts if you want to show your love! more

BAAAAD 5/13/2009

I went to lunch with 3 friends. We ordered 3 different dishes - I ordered the supposedly spicey tomato dish #27 & one of us ordered the eqqplant & tofu dish - I can't remember what the other person ordered. All 3 dishes were virtually inedible. They had a really bad flavor like they had been doused with a sauce made from dirty socks soaked in water. My spring roll at least was edible, but very greasy. Best Veggie Food in Austin 2/17/2009

Try the protein 2000 and the chicken quesadilla! The pearl drinks are yummy especially the taro. I haven't found many things at this place that I didn't care for. Pros: The food comes out fast and delicious Cons: They really want to turn the tables over so don't plan on taking your time while eating more

I never write reviews of this sort, but I was galvanized to do so by reading the first review that I encountered on this site while looking for Veggie Heaven's phone number. All I would say to the vegetarians out there is that this restaurant is NOT a hip dining spot, at which you enjoy an aperitif while commenting on the flawless decor and charming waitstaff. However, if you are a vegetarian who appreciates great food, low prices, prompt service, and a menu that is composed entirely of vegetarian options, this is the restaurant for you. Additionally, their service is so expedient it is unlikely that you will have to wait on a parking spot for longer then a few minutes even during peak dining hours. more

Rushed service and TERRIBLE parking situation 9/11/2008

I just went to Veggie Heaven again today, and although their food is decent, I have to agree with most of the other reviewers that say the food is predictable. I have ordered several different dishes and they're right - one dish tastes like the next. And the next. And the next. But, predictability is sometimes a good thing - no matter what you order, your food will taste the same - and you can't beat the price. Pros: Predictable food. Cheap prices. Cons: Service is bad and parking is ridiculous! (Mgmt won't tow like they claim they do!) more

Great food! 8/20/2008

I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian, and I don't usually eat or even like tofu, but Veggie Heaven is my favorite restaurant by far. Whenever I'm in Austin, I must stop by Veggie Heaven. Their food is amazing! My favorite dish is the Four Seasons. I've brought friends there who have expressed their hesitation since they don't usually eat dishes that are vegan, and they all enjoyed it. It's truly an Austin-ish restaurant. Pros: Great food, close to the UT campus Cons: Parking can get full, close to the UT campus more

One of America's Greatest Vegetarian Resteraunts! 7/10/2008

I've tried places in New York and LA (and Houston, like that had much...), and Veggie Heaven is in a class of it's own. This place is certianly a dive, its extremeply packed and tiny. Staff are busy and fast! The menue is long, but it all seems to be variations on the same things. We ordered a steam bun, which was my first...and I loved it! It was doughy and delicious. I forgot the same of what I ordered but it had fried tofu, yam, and other veggies in a spicy sauce...which I ordered on the side (which came exactly as I ordered) It was a pretty simple dish, but good none the less. I've read that its dirty and what not, but If you are going to a tiny dive like this...you generally dont expect a sterile environment, to be honest. I didn't see anything abnormally dirty myself, however. I also got the brown rice, which had green things in it...lentils, i think. different, but good. Overall...i liked it and would go back. Cons: crouded, don't come here to wine and dine, so to speak. get in...get out. more

Fast Service, Good Food 9/10/2007

I have been here twice and have been craving it ever since! Very prompt service, but almost makes you feel rushed. Food is good, but can taste the same from entree to entree. One thing I like is that I feel healthy after leaving, not overly full and gluttonous. I reccomend this place for a quick, healthy lunch. Oh and did I mention that it's cheap too?? Nice! A True Austin Gem 6/20/2007

There are very few places in Austin family owned and operated. Veggie Heaven is one of Austin's best local restaurants. The food is fabulous, healthy, delicious and always hot! The variety on the menu is abundant and the vegetables taste as though they were just picked from the vine. I especially like the sauces and the chef will tailor the spiciness to my own taste. May and Stacey know me by name when I walk in the front door, greet me like an old friend coming over for lunch. I eat at Veggie Heaven almost every week.....my favorite dish..............the Lucky Seven!!! If you haven't been to Veggie Heaven you are missing out............my meat and potatoes husband loves it as much as I do....Voted Chronicles best veggie dish for many, many years!!!! more
