Literally probably my favorite place to eat on the drag. They cook the tofu PERFECTLY. The waitresses hardly speak english, so that's difficult if you have questions. Otherwise, g...

I just went to Veggie Heaven again today, and although their food is decent, I have to agree with most of the other reviewers that say the food is predictable. I have ordered seve...

Great place for non-vegetarians too 4/15/2007

I love meat. I love meat. I love meat. That said, I went to Veggie Heaven with my vegetarian friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. I ordered the Protein 2000 and a Thai dish and they tasted great. Boy were they fast to serve too; it was out in no time. My friends probably won't convert me to becoming a full-time vegetarian but eating at a place like this lets me know how it's possible. Pros: Fast service, quick to get the food out, good parking for the Drag more

Unique vegetarian sushi 2/21/2007

Stopped in for lunch. Their lunch menu is quite heavy - it seems to be the same as their dinner menu. This isn't good if you're looking for lighter fare. Pros: Prompt service, good vegetarian fare Cons: Lack of noticeable ambiance, lousy wine list more

Great-tasting, filling and all vegetarian!! 12/27/2006

For me, a trip to Austin is not complete without a trip to Veggie Heaven. I asked a random salesperson for a vegetarian restaurant recommendation on my first trip there and Veggie Heaven is where she told me to go. I always get the Protein 2000 which ends up being enough for two meals. Also tried my Mom's Veggie Chicken Bowl a couple days ago and found it to be very tasty as well, with a slightly sweet flavor to the ""chicken"". Even my dad (not a vegetarian) enjoyed his meal! I definitely recommend it for the reasonably priced, great-tasting, filling, healthy vegetarian food! =) more

Yummy! 8/19/2006

I haven't been to veg restaurant in a long time and I couldn't wait to try this place. After reading the reviews here I decided to check it out last night. Wow! It was so fast (10 minutes)and delicious. My husband had the spicy friend mushrooms (name of the dish I can't remember). Very hot and spicy but I couldn't help but try his dish. I had the 7 meatball thing that others have mentioned. So good. We went at around 6:30 and got a table right away. By 7:00 the placed was pretty full. I thought the service was great. We had three different people waiting on us - one to seat us, one to get us drinks and food, and another to take our order. A gem of a place. Pros: Food was unquestionably great Cons: Not the prettiest place inside more

Those vegetarians sure are crafty. 7/30/2006

Don't let the exterior fool you. Inside this cozy little restaurant are cooks and waitstaff slaving away to bring Austin the tastiest, predominantly Oriental-style vegetarian fare. Eliciting the highest remarks are Protein 2000, Lucky 7, Veggie Quesadillas, and a wickedly delicious plate of fried mushrooms ""dancing"" in spicy tangerine sauce. Pros: Uniquely Austin, great for carnivores as well more

magical 6/18/2006

Veggie Heaven is magical. The 2 ladies that run it are great (nice, welcoming, are familiar with you without being in your face about it). The food here is special and has its own kind of perfection. I want to try everything on the menu, but almost always end up getting the ""Lucky Seven"" .. which features 7 very tasty 'meatballs' that will satisfy any meateater along with delicious veggies of course in a very 'special sauce'. If you are eating at the McDonalds behind the place, and not here, well then shame shame (and ill health) on you. Pros: good for you more

Great Healthy, Vegetarian Food 2/1/2006

It was fresh, fast, and healthy! Great Job. I would definatly recommend it to my friends. Pros: Food, Price, Service more

not very creative 9/18/2005

I went to Veggie heaven for the first time and thought the food was decent. However, it seems like they use all the same ingredients in every dish. The food was cheap though, but the service was not so great. more

So So Good 8/3/2005

I am not a vegetarian... but this place has the best food. I love their tofu, in everything. Their different sauces are absolutely tasty. I like #31 (which I don't remember what it is exactly) and my boyfriend loves the Protein 2000. We actually got all dressed up to go out for our anniversary, and we ended up eating there because it is so so good! This is a must try restaurant. The servers aren't professional and barely speak to you, and the place is very small and kind of warm. BUT the food completely makes up for it! Pros: Wonderful Tofu, Wonderful Sauces, Wonderful Veggies Cons: customer service, small restaurant more

healthy food 5/23/2005

veggie heaven rocks Austin. I hope everyone give it a try even if you are meat eater. Pros: fast service, healthy, large selection more

The best resturant i've ever been to! 1/2/2005

the food is supurb, the service is great, portions are large. Anyone will love this food but a vegan or vegetarian will want to dine here everyday! Pros: wide vegan selection, good prices, service Cons: , only one location more

oh so good 7/7/2004

We drive an hour to get there and it has never disapointed us. Everyone loves it kids and all. The menu gives everyone something to love, the orginal review calls it mind boggling I call it comprehensive. Protien 2000 is a chewy, garlicky delight. I can't get away without one of the steamed buns. Tofu balls are delicate and delicious not dense like some places. They offer the best choices of any veggie place I have ever been to. Setian, Tempeh, Tofu, Fried Tofu, or Wheat Gluten combined with wonderous sauces and perfectly cooked vegetables. Veggie ham and veggie shrimp are some of the more unusual choices. They also added bubble teas last year if you just want a quick pick me up. Pros: delicious, Inexpensive, Parking more

Don't pay attention to the waitstaff... 1/15/2004

I've been going to this restaurant for years, and though the hip Austinite kids are gone as the waitstaff, the food has kept me a loyal customer for all this time. Hawaiian Luau is great if you're looking for something sweet, Hawaiian Taro is great for the spicy kick, curry buns for a meal to go... There are so many things to pick from, everyone will have a favourite. It's small, but comfy. Pros: fantastic food, big portions, variety of options Cons: small, parking is sparse more

This is vegan? 2/20/2003

I have never had such good vegan food (I am not vegan but my b/f is). They have a lot of variety too. Loved it. more

Jump on the veggie train! 1/22/2003

This one is soooo good. Great fried vegan spring rolls. You can even pick a dish at random and be sure that it is fantastic. You will not find a single bit of meat at this place. Almost all the dishes are vegan, and there are a few vegetarian dishes too. They give you TONS of food and you can easily make 2 meals out of most dishes. Their brown rice is excellent too. Their tofu balls are yummy. :) more

Veggie Heaven is HEAVENLY 1/9/2003

Being a vegetarian isn't the easiest thing in the world...food is always overpriced, it is always bland and people look at you funny in Texas when you don't order steak. NOT HERE. The food is amazing, I haven't had a bad dish ever, the service is great and the owners are friendly and get to know you. I reccomend it to anyone- even my meat and potatoes daddy loves it! Pros: Delish Food, Close to Campus, Inexpensive Cons: small more

A Great Place 12/15/2002

Really great for veggies and non-veggies. I would absolutely recommend it to everyone. Definitely try the Protein 2000. Pros: Amazing Food, Enough Parking Cons: Limited Space, Poor atmosphere more

2 legs good, 4 legs bad (to eat) 12/6/2002

V.H. has a very special place in my cholesterol-free heart. It's so hard to find vegan food that's 100% right-on, all the time, and this place definately pulls it off. Curry City with white rice, #1! Tofu and Mushroom, also #1! On the downside, a couple flavors of their bubble tea can flush out your system like upper tract Drano, so choose wisely. Oh, and don't try to order any of the cats in the back of the menu. Apparently, they're not part of the cuisine. Pros: Vegan, hot food fast, vegan bubble teas Cons: ugly as hell, little parking more

yum! 11/22/2002

while the seating is crowded and the waitstaff is ... less than impressive, the food is wonderful. the things that they can do with soy protein and TVP make me so happy -- if i knew the recipe for Protein 2000 or the tangerine mushroom dish, I'd make them at home for myself every day. Plus, the menu and decor ... well, if you're short on conversation, Veggie Heaven provides! more

even my carnivore dad loves it! 8/20/2002

i've taken several meat eaters to veggie heaven, one of my favorite restaurants and they've all been pleased. i recommend the protein 2000 dish and the bun appetizer. yum! Pros: Vegetarian, Friendly, Tasty more
