The new manager Barry Is never seen! Not like when Becky was mgmt. She was caring and a hard worker ! Too many non sensical new people there! Been a client for 15 years and very u...

THE WORST 3/1/2016

DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONES TO ROBERT'S ANIMAL HOSPITAL IN HANOVER, MA!!! If it wasn't necessary to hit a star for rating I wouldn't have. They don't even deserve one star. NO ONE COMMUNICATES THERE, EVERYONE IS IN THE DARK!! I will explain why and will make it as short as possible. Gonna be hard though.\r \r My dog went missing on Sunday 2/28/16 around 12:00 p.m. When he didn't return 5 min. later I figured he was taking a poop somewhere and needed privacy. Didn't start worrying until 15 min. went by.\r \r Lester is a 7 yr. old choc. lab weighing in at 130 Lbs. and if you know labs at all they are extremely loyal, he doesn't leave my side for more then 5 minutes EVER. So when 10 min. goes by I go outside to start looking for him.... 30 min. goes by and I'm walking up and down the street whistling, clapping and yelling his name.. You get the picture...\r \r It's now 6:30 P.m. and we are freaking out because now it's dark and this is so out of character for him and so mind boggling for us. more

Don't go to Roberts VCA! 6/17/2010

DO NOT GO TO ROBERTS!!!!\r I am a dog walker and have been to many vets. Unfortunately, this time around I had a rescue with diabetes in really bad shape. The doctor was so persistent on SURGERY on a dog in a ketonic state which would've killed her. After much thought and questioning, he finally had an ultra sound. Turns out NO infection and NO surgery needed, but by the time he addressed the diabetes, it was too late. We had to put down our little girl. He was so preoccupied with money. He threw the costs down my throat. At the point of putting her down, he even had the audacity to ask how we were planning on taking care of bill(money had already been taken out of my account before care!)\r $900 later our little lady was gone. DO NOT TRUST DR. JOSEPH COSMAN!!! All he cares about is money. more

Expensive but quality care 6/5/2010

They are a bit pricy and I am annoyed they no longer have emergency care however I feel very comfortable with the way they are with my pets. When my puppy broke her paw they were so good to her. Whenever she had to stay a few hours for her new cast to dry when one of us went in to pick her up she wasn't in a cage somewhere the receptionist had her sitting in her lap while doing her paperwork. Also when my cat was having chronic diarrhea and losing her fur they somehow figured out it was an allergic reaction to flea bites, nothing serious (and I was damn convinced she was deathly ill) and were able to solve it with a stronger flea prevention. Excellent vets, assistants and supporting staff more

I want the old Roberts Animal Clinic back 6/3/2010

Have been with Roberts Animal Clinic for many years.\r \r Since they got taken over by the VCA group, their services diminished (like their emergency services) and their rates skyrocketed.\r \r I moved three of my pets to a more rural affordable and more service-oriented independent animal clinic and only go here for a specialist, not for routine work. more

BE CAREFUL 2/11/2010

I wouldn't take a pet spider there..I brought my\r new puppy there at 1:00 in the morning he seemed very sick to me, after running my credit bill up to $5,700.00 without my permission, I told them at 7:am\r pack his bowl I'm getting him out of here, they still had the nerve to charge me almost $700.00 I wonder how he could be in the hospital and the emergency room at the same time..turne,s out he was just little confused being in a new home more

Worthless, expensive 10/17/2009

I have a constipated dog and took him to the VCA. 2 days and $2100 later I still have a very sick and very constipated dog. They didn’t do ANYTHING except run a bunch of tests, hold him for two days, increase charges, and administer TWO Enemas a day. The things they were charging for were ridiculous! $85 dollars to administer shots. Not counting the price of the medication that was being given. $40 for an IV dispenser rental. That’s right; they charged me a daily rental fee on the bag holder for my dogs IV. Unacceptable. This was one of the worst experiences of my pet owning life. I feel used and fully taken advantage of. I will forever and always recommend against the VCA to everyone I meet from here on out. Greed in your moment of weakness is their business plan. Pros: NONE!!! Cons: Worthless, expensive more

Our cat almost died 9/1/2009

I wouldn't recommend bringing your animal to a VCA in general. They run unnecessary tests and fleece you for thousands of dollars. The young vets are overworked and don't call back within reasonable times (one call was returned 8 hours after I called!) It's disconcerting there's no other emergency service around the south shore. The VCA is a corporate machine that uses 29 year old vets fresh out of medical school. I feel their vets misdiagnosed our poor cat who ended up in their ICU on and off for two weeks. They need more seasoned/experienced doctors. Pros: Their doctors are available 24/7 Cons: Inexperienced and charge way too much. more

Our cat almost died because of their incompetency 9/1/2009

Our cat ate a poisonous plant and I rushed him immediately to a VCA in Hanover. Instead of flushing out his kidney and putting him on IV, they ran bloodwork and did an ultra-sound! They told my husband and I that he was anemic and they were worried he had LEUKEMIA! They released him and he kept failing. Six days later we rushed him to the South Shore VCA when he stopped eating and they force fed him. They ran even more tests and told us it might be Pancreatitis). He wasn't recovering so we brought him home to do the feedings ourselves. He wasn't responding so I told my husband that unless a miracle happened we'd have to put him down. We made the appointment for doing this. They took out the feeding tube and brought him to us. He was perky and alert. The doctor still thought we wanted to put him down! We brought him home and hand fed him. Two days later - we had out cat back! The only call from one of the 29 year old vets was to chastise us on giving Buddha a lick of pizza crust (his favorite). They almost destroyed our cat and they're reprimanding me?! (I already mentioned to the doctor before bringing him home was that he liked pizza crusts!!) Pros: None!! Cons: Inexperienced, arrogant and charge A LOT of money!! more

DON'T bring your animal to either the Hanover VCA or the Weymouth VCA... they run unnecessary tests and fleece you for thousands of dollars. They're rude, they don't call back within reasonable times (like 8 hours after you call!) I hate this place. It's scary there's no other emergency service around the south shore. The VCA is a corporate machine that uses 20 something "doctors" to just pick your pockets. HORRIBLE!! Our poor cat, and us, suffered so badly and he's having nightmares for the first time in his 6 short years!! (I wish I could give them "negative stars"!) Pros: None!! Roberts Costs and Care out of Control -- Bring lots of $$$$ 2/7/2007

Last night I called Roberts to get advice on how to treat my dog's diahrrea. I had foolishly changed her dog food and she had had a bad stomach for 2 days. I was hoping for advice on food or drugs to help her.\r \r I was told to come in (preferably before 8 because then the emergency room costs jump to 125.00). We got there about 7:50, waited a bit, and then were seen.\r \r The dog was obviously not sick--she wagged her tail, played with the staff, was bright and alert. However, the dr. decided to do tests, etc. just in case which is good care I agree, however, one hour later and almost $400 later, we left.\r \r Yes, it's my fault for being dragged through this: 1) I knew the dog was really OK and that she was sick from the food change 2) I brought the dog in (oh and they charged me $125 even though we were there before 8) against my better judgment, 3) I DID NOT ASK WHY THEY WERE DOING TESTS AND HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST.\r \r So beware, the next stomach ache your dog gets may cost you $400 and more

The best animal care 10/28/2005

This is the best place to take your pets. The staff is very friendly and caring. They truly care about every animal that comes through the door. They also have all the pet products you need. also they are very moderatly priced. They do a good job with senior pets, and send reminder's for all check-ups. more

I recommend Doctor Went 9/4/2005

We have several cats, and we take all the males to Roberts. We have some rather old cats, our oldest was 21, but we have an 18 year old now. Doctor Went is very good with geriatric cats, and seems to care very much for her pet patients. You can see the love in her eyes when she is examining your pet. Our 21 year old 'Grant' loved her, and would purr loudly and butt her face as she valiantly tried to examine him. This is not to say that the rest of the Veterinarians are less qualified, we would take our pets to any doctor working there. The support staff is also wonderful, and caring. They are available 24/7 making it the only veterinarian you will need. more
