Thank you for the excellent emergency visit. Brought my mothers 11 year old poodle on a Friday night,, very professionally, reasonably priced and got a quick diagnosis. I'm going ...

This place used to be owned by the Dee brothers (all vets)., it was the best place in town.. Since VCA took over, it is ALL about money. Everyone works on commission. Take note; t...

HAH 3/26/2010

I am actually an employee of the hospital. Sometimes our clients can be a bit demanding but it's to be expected. Clients can sometimes be rude but we do the best we can while being talked down to as if we are idiots. Clients don't want to wait for doctors, want quality care but keep asking how long will it be before Ithey go in ? No hospital is perfect but we have just expanded our facilities and have been in business over 60 years, so what should that tell you? Either we are doing something right, or all of our clients are wrong, and obviously we care about our clients. It is not an animal spa but a hospital. Our primary concern is the health of your pet. So the experience is what you make of it. more

No time to go 3/20/2010

Ok folks. I just boarded my two dogs with HAH and I'm horrified. I dropped my babies off at 11:30 a.m yesterday and retrieved them at 8:45 a.m this morning. As soon as I stepped out of HAH's front door (my dogs who are completely house broken) took the longest pee and biggest dump I've ever seen either one of them take! I immediately asked them to provide the specific times in which my dogs were walked and no one had a clue. I later spoke to an attendant in their kennel area and I was sickened by her no care attitude. She explained that dogs that are boarded with HAH are walked in the morning (no time given) and at 2 pm. You're probably thinking what I'm thinking, Who walks a dog ONLY twice a day!?! Before boarding with them one of the many questions I had was, How many times will my dogs be walked? I was told their boarded dogs are walked 4 times a day, the last walk is just before closing, obviously I was lied to. I then asked the attendant, What times were MY dogs walked and she fla more

Simply The Best 12/14/2009

You'll have absolutely no issues with this animal hospital. They're always open, employ a huge staff of professional vets, and are very affordable. They service any types of animals and welcome walk ins. I recently brought my 15 year old dog in, and they did a full inspection, found a little skin cancer, and immediately removed it. He's doing better than ever now thanks to the Hollywood Animal Hospital. more

Read this review to save money. Watch your bills! Ask what is necessary. 12/9/2008

Definitely keep a copy of your estimate and compare it to your actual bill. My estimate for the "emergency visit" charge was $50 then they charged me $60! Maybe they didn't think I would remember because they showed me the estimate but didn't give me a copy. I will ask for a copy next time.\r Also! At a completely different visit, they shorted me pills on my dogs perscription. Maybe it was an accident or maybe they think people don't count their pills. I was shorted 3 pills. I feel like thats hard to mistake. I called and the doctor said they'd reimburse me for the prorated amount. \r Also! TRY TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! You are charged more when you go in without an appointment. Usually you can call and make a next day appointment. So if it can wait, call and save. \r Save money tip: If you can't wait to make an appointment, a nurse assistant told me to put your name down for a specific doctor when you sign in. She said that they charge more if you walk in and don't request a more

Had life-saving advanced surgeries from here, BEST SPECIALISTS AROUND!! 9/8/2008

I saw the other reviews, and how negative some of them were, which prompted me to write my own honest and positive review.\r \r I have an older small poodle mix, who at one point had a mysterious ailment that made her breathing difficult (at this point it wasn't her collapsing trachea). At one point I took her to the emergency room out west (can't remember the name), and they gave her a relaxant b/c they assumed her throat was only irritated. Later on I learned she had a blockage and the relaxant could have killed her because she did need to struggle to breathe. So there's one misdiagnosis that was a waste of money, and also a dangerous one done by one vet.\r \r Long story short, I had another primary vet at Emerald Hills animal hospital who ran tests and even did a surgery, and said there was something in her throat blocking her airway, and it was filled with air and he cut some away. She sounded better for a little while. Noisy labored breathing came back and I called around to many v more

Overpriced Animal Hospital 7/11/2008

I took my dog here because she was lethargic and not eating or walking, took her on 7/9 around 8-9pm and picked her up around 5:00pm the next day and had a $1400K+ bill. This is some bullcrap, I mean the Dr was really nice and all but this place is way overpriced. They wanted me to leave the pet in observation one more day, but at those rates I would have ended up paying 3k maybe? They administered stuff without asking me, when I checked the dog in they just told me that blood work was around $150 and $200 for an x-ray. NEVER SIGN any form from them authorizing them to do whatever's necessary to keep your dog alive, cause they will do anything that comes to their mind and bill you for it. Needless to say I took my pet home, and she is still messed up and might not make it. So I just spent an entire paycheck for nothing. I love my dog, but unfortunately, the american way is that if something brakes you buy a new one, and for the amount I had to pay I could have bought myself two brand n more

Do not bring your pet here!!! 2/12/2008

Last year I brought "a relatives" pet into the hospital, against advice from my boss whom has had problems here in the past. My relative was out of town, and the pet had eaten metal, and was hemorraging, so I brought him there. From the moment I got there I new it was going to be a problem. The pet is bleeding, can barely walk.. and we are waiting.. waiting and waiting...\r Anyways my relative called in gave a form of payment to see this pet, for that visit.. the surgery ... etc. Unfortunantly I was the one who brought in the pet.. signed the paperwork. Well.. it's over a year later I got a letter from their collections agency!?!? \r There is a major bleep on my credit report now?? Why...\r Well the dog had to stay for a week or so.. so my relative.. the one paying.. the owner.. who has been in contact with the facility the entire time... picked up the dog.. made another payment and set up a payment plan. As far as what my relative says.. they are up to date.. so we are not understanding more

TOO COMMERCIALIZED AND UNCARING 9/12/2007

Not only are the receptionists rude and unhelpful, you can't get a call back from a doctor. They overbook daily. Ridiculously long waits for a dr that spends 2 seconds with you. The vet actually HIT my cat because she had a malignant melanoma on her paw and as he scraped at it she hissed at him. I had to have surgery to remove my cat's toe due to cancer and when it came back six month's later I couldn't even get a returned call, let alone an appointment. This place is far too commercial if you are looking for a caring vet. I'm sorry I ever went there in the first place. I pray my cat survives despite their lack of care. more

Good facilities, but less than stellar care. 5/4/2007

I've been using their services for several years, both for my cat and for my dog. Overall, they're only OK for check-ups and simple procedures. I just have to pay extra attention and know what's being done and what needs to be done.\r \r And the reason I have to do that is because they just don't take the time to be the least bit thorough with each individual patient. Every time I go there I have to point out obvious things which the vet could easily see simply by looking at the paper he or she is holding. It's happened that I've stopped one of my animals receiving the same vaccination twice, minor procedures which I did not come in for (and were not necessary), etc. They also never know my dog's chronic condition, which is always written in the papers they're holding. For everything he's prescribed, I have to ask if it'll aggravate or affect his condition. Then they say "oh... he has that?" and finally look down to read the brief medical history.\r \r Also, the majority of the vets there more

Family business runs state of the art facility. 11/11/2005

Animals need care too! 9/5/2005

The Hollywood Animal Hospital is conveniently located on Hollywood Boulevard in downtown Hollywood. I've had many experiences with them over th years. I have brought my cats there for routine well care and, on ocassion, when they were ill. They treated my animals with respect and professionalism. Thankfully, I never lost a pet while receiving treatment there. I thought they were overpriced for the services they provided. On ocassion, the waiting room was overcrowded and the wait was longer than I would have expected. But, since they have people waiting, they must be doing something right. If you live in the downtown Hollywood area, I'd recommend you bring your pet in for a check up. Preventative care is encouraged by the Hollywood Animal Hospital and Well Health Care Center. PROS: Professional and friendly service. CONS: Long waits ocassionaly. A bit more costly than other animal care centers. more
