Best

I used to study here while in Law School. great crowd, good food, love the outside patio!

Worst

Had our 2.5 year old who is great at restaurants, tried to order from the Kid's Menu a Turkey Panini, but asked them not to ""panini"" it because our daughter isn't really into me...

Great Coffee 12/9/2002

Not only is the coffee the best in the city but the food is great too. It feels like a little bit of Europe. I love to hang out here. It does take a few minutes to get a table some time, but it is really worth the wait. Pros: organic Cons: small wait more

Strong Coffee!!! 11/26/2002

There on a Satruday night, & thankfully found seats inside (twas really cold), though the place was packed. Wide array of teas and coffees, but not a lot of specialty drinks or desserts. I had the honey vanilla latte, which had just the right amount of bitterness & sweetness. Get the flourless choco cake--good & sinful (don't try to finish it alone!). Parking can be a hassle though, unless you wanna pay $3.50 for valet (for coffee???). Best draw is that they're all organic. Pros: Healthy, Strong Coffee, Yummy Choco Cake Cons: Hard to park, Can be crowded more

so lame.... 11/20/2002

I went to this place after hearing about what a great little spot it was...boy did I get bad information. It is a cramped noisy place filled with people chatting on cell phones or showing of the Botox they just had pumped in. It may be a fun place to go if you're with someone who's never been to L.A. and you want to show them how pretentious the city can be, on your way to somewhere fun. more

OVERRATED!!!!!!! 11/3/2002

If you're looking for a loud, tightly packed, disorganized coffee house, this is the place for you. After hearing rave reviews, we went for dessert one evening. After struggling to squirm through to the counter, we were able to order coffee and the least unappealing of the few dessert items: a piece of chocolate cake. We finally found a table in a tiny corner. While the coffee was delicious, although small servings, the cake was horrible: tasteless and textureless. Even the chocolate shavings on the top were nondescript chocolate! We attempted to have a conversation through the noise, which was nearly impossible. I would NEVER go back!!!! Pros: fast service, decent coffee Cons: crowded, bland food, noisy more

Best coffee in town 10/18/2002

Okay - get real people. This place has it ALL: perfect espresso, exceptional food, and some of the most beautiful - and beautifully dressed - people in all of LA, yet simultaneously it's cool, mellow and relaxed. Yet another great place for tiny kids and big dogs. If it was only easier to park, I'd try to meet friends every weekend. Breakfast pastries are some of the best in town. Pros: Inexpensive, Delicious, Relaxed yet hip Cons: Impossible to park, crowded more

""In-Style"" meets Restaurant Biz 101 8/15/2002

Urth Cafe contradicts so many stereotypes synonymonus with eateries in Los Angeles...except for one: the beautiful people. The food is always fresh, well priced and rather ecclectic. The coffee concoctions are not only tasty but beautifully presented with a whisp of decorative froth atop a bowl-size mug full of luscious java. The service is so prompt and well managed that tipping feels totally appropriate as opposed to obligatory. Dress code: anything that makes you look like you just came from a combination yoga class/Neiman Marcus makeover. Even the leashes for the dogs tied to the rails are designer. Pros: Service, Great coffee, casual atmosphere Cons: can get crowded more

GOOD, HEALTHY EATTING 8/14/2002

I've eatten at Urth Caffe many times, for lunch. My favorite is the 1/2 turkey sandwich, salad and latte w/heart shape. On the weekends it gets very crowded. The wait for an outdoor table is worth it for the sights and sounds of melrose. Pros: good food, latte, people watching more
