Odd/Poor Customer Service 4/2/2012

My 2 year-old daughter spilled some milk on our comtemporary sofa cushions which was purchased last year from a mid to high-end local furniture store. I had to take out the foam pad and interior liner out of the zippered cushion fabric to treat all components to prevent soured milk smell and stains. After treating the fabric, I couldn't get the foam pad and interior liner back into the cushion fabric without there being some minor bumps of the baffled liner. So I sought assistance with Upholstery Shop based on their longevity in business in order to get the cushions into a smooth state. Called them and spoke to Will and described my problem. He said it didn't sound like a problem and to bring the cushions in. When I arrived Will was not there and instead spoke to a fellow who listened to my issue. Upon hearing this story he started going into a wide-eyed diatribe about how some furniture is a mazda and some is a ferrari. And how some furniture is a straight vodka and some is mixed drink. He then started going down a verbal path about the type of furniture they produce which is decidedly traditional and that the cushions would be better stiffer and fuller. This was the exact opposite of what I requested and that we were discussing. I reiterated my need to not make the cushions stiffer and to work with what was there and that it simply need to be reinstalled with an installers knowledge rather than my non-installers hands. He just couldn't get his head around my request or they were unwilling to try. Obviously they are not flexible in the range of furniture repair assistance they can provide. more

Horrible 3/6/2011

Brought the couch to location and Peter looked at it and promised he could do a good job and was salvageable. This was a high end couch. Couch only 1-year old but was heavily damaged as a dog had a seizure on it (guessing). Was promptly called to come pick it up. Upon arrival they put it in back of my truck and could see from the showroom the piece had issues. Almost cried, the fabric I paid $530 was not even close to the color I ordered, had wrinkles all over it, seams showing looking like a Frankenstein and seams looked like they were going to rip at any second. Just horrible workmanship. Told Peter I would not accept it as is and he claims""some people like the wrinkled look"" Not me, have the matching Loveseat and they would not even look close. Now 3-months later I have not heard a peep after he promised to fix it. If it does not look a whole lot better if and when he calls then I will just tell him to junk it and not pay the remaining balance. Horrible... more

Fantastic work and great prices, too! 1/7/2011

Ineeded to get my sectional sofa recovered before the holidays. I selected the fabric from their stock and Peter promised me he could get the work done in time for my party. They did it in only two weeks from the time they picked it up and the work was beautiful. I had priced this elsewhere and was quoted double the price that I paid at The Upholstery Shop. more

Great service!! 12/23/2010

The Upholstery Shop recently reupholstered some family heirloom chairs - and they did a fabulous job. The chairs look better than they ever have. Great workmanship and very friendly, knowledgeable staff. The job was done quickly and very professionally and included lots of finishing details that we hadn't even thought of. We'll definitely be back. Thanks for a great job. more

The Best In Town!!!! 12/15/2010

I had a great experience working with Peter at the Upholstery Shop. I got an initial quote when i walked in to inquire about having an antique sofa reupholstered and refurbished. They picked it up and did a fantastic job within the price initially quoted, and they even did some additional touch-ups that really made it look sensational. Thank you so much for the GREAT work that was put into this and I am looking forward to show off my sofa for the holidays..Keep up the good work !!! more

Beware!! 132 days to get poor workmanship!! 11/28/2010

Not worth the frustration!! I placed an order to recover an arm chair and to have a matching custom built ottoman. I placed the order 7-9-10. They came to pick up the chair on 8-7-10. The chair and ottoman were delivered on 9-22-10. The ottoman was the wrong size. It came 2"" too high, wrong color legs, 4"" too wide. I returned it to the Kingwood location on 9-23. Ottoman came back 11-18-10 AGAIN the wrong size!! Now it was not only still 2"" too high but now 6"" too narrow. I had a square cube!!! The material was not on straight, the top cushion was very loose and also not on straight in relation to the bottom portion. It was a mess!! We received a full refund for the cost of the ottoman, as they no longer had any more of the fabric and just did not want to deal with it. We have our money back but we also have the worst looking ottoman in the world---we may give it away!! Workmanship on the chair is fair. Outside areas are ok....areas behind the removable bottom cushion are poor. Gaps are visible in the corners where they didn't allow for enough fabric. 132 days from the time I placed the order!! I will never use them again!! more

Simply the best! 11/16/2010

I have been a frequent customer of The Upholstery Shop since I moved from San Diego to Houston in 1999. I have experienced great quality work and even better customer service. They really go out of their way to make you feel like more than just another customer. more

The best in town 3/8/2010

They have a unique pricing policy that is all inclusive. When you pick a fabric from their stock, the price on the fabric includes the fabric and the labor. Very simple and easy on the budget. If you need reupholstery work, give them a try. Pros: Best prices and top quality Cons: I wish they were not so busy. more

Ditto - simply not professional 1/3/2010

I have had several pieces of furniture upholstered here over the years but they must not have the experts they used to have doing the work. Recent experience was awful. 5 weeks after my order was placed, Peter called to say the fabric was discontinued. I found another fabric and when the chairs came back, they were awful. Two identical chairs no longer looked identical as if two different people worked on them. I returned them to Peter and he made a note of everything that was wrong. When I finally got them back again (3 weeks), they had minimal correction - fabric still crooked in places, wingbacks didn't match. I didn't send back again - what's the point. Will never use them again. Cons: Not professional more

Simply not professional 6/20/2009

This was an really long and miserable ordeal. First I ordered a couch with material and after nearly a month I was told that they didn't have it in stock so I had to come in and pick out new material. Then it was completed after several prolonged due dates and many excuses and meanwhile I have no couch to sit on all summer. When it was finally completed, it did not appear full so I asked for another pillow since it was a one price (any couch and material) and I had a loveseat (smaller). Peter said he would do this; however on delivery it was not done. When I called he got mad and did take off a small amount (really I wanted the pillow). Overall, it took a very long time and it was not a pleasant experience. When I spoke to him later, he now changes the story and says I did not pay for a pillow???Uh???? more

Keep that sofa 2/12/2009

I can only say good things about this company, to begin the most important thing, ""They are honest"" if you have a peice that is not worth saving they will tell you instead of doing the work just to make a buck off of you. I love finding good peices in thrift shops and salvation army stores. I purchase a GREAT sofa couch and paid $10.00 for it and paid $250.00 to get it reupholstered. NOw tell me where could you get such a great deal. I have the couch in my game room for the children and they love it. I had a good set for 20 years and did not want to get rid of it. It now looks 20 years younger. Taking another chair down this week to match the sofa upstairs. Great place ,,,friendly people. Save some money and give these guys your business. Pros: great work..honest people Cons: they need a parking lot for the business more

Simply the best value in town!!! 1/18/2008

I have had several pieces recovered and custom built here. I was a bit sceptical when Peter Crocenzi the owner told me the cost for the fabric and labor. I got the sofa I wanted with the fabric for less than what I paid for the sofa originaly. I was very pleased with the perfect work that (Frank) my uppholster did for me. I highly recomend you go by one day to take a look around the huge selection of fabric they carry. But do it quick because they get booked out as far as 8 weeks! Pros: selection, price, personal service Cons: traffic can be heavy at times, long wait around holidays more
