I had a lovely experience at Unruli. Rachel gave me the best facial I have ever had. All the staff was very helpful and kind. I don't go to salons very often, and I rarely get my haircut, so sometimes I feel like a fool when I walk into a salon. But everyone made me feel welcome and at ease. They also serve comforting hot tea as an added perk. Pros: local, nice people more

This place is amazing. You completely forget that you're downtown Franklin. I travel a ton, sometimes out for a month at a time, so from time to time I have to find a salon on the road. I've been to some great places but these guys are my favorites. Korie and Lauren are both fantastic at funky guys cuts. My hair is not easy, but no matter what ideas I throw at them they knock it out of the park everytime. Just had my first facial this morning with Rachel. Couldn't have made me more comfortable. Just had my first experience @ Unruli. The first thing you notice is the great atmosphere. Even on a gloomy day I just wanted to sit and soak it in. Had an appointment with hairstylist Lauren Phelan. What a talented and fun person to work with. I have lived in Franklin for 5 years coming from Southern CA. I've been through Brentwood Salons, Franklin Salons and have not been able to find a place that could give me just the right cut. I've been burned, had my hair pulled, left with uncolored roots, and looking not much different than when I arrived or worse. I've listened to hairdressers tell me about their trips, how wonderful they are and their not so appropriate love lives. I just wanted a good hair cut. I'm a performing musician and can now be assured I'll look great playing my guitar or singing my brains out. :) I can't wait to have my first color done there. I moved here from Los Angeles and had a really hard time finding a salon I love and would be comparable to what I had back home. I tried almost all the salons in the Franklin area and even in Nashville and Unruli is by far the best. Lauren is my stylist and is fantastic. I've never left there without loving my cut. Valerie does my color and is so incredibly knowledgeable. I've never had someone color my hair and know what types of dye to use in order to get the most out of my hair type and still keep it incredibly healthy. I recently had the pleasure of trying Unruli for the first time. Haircut by Lauren--Fantastic---Color by Frazier--he is incredibly talented and a really nice guy and even the customer service from Kerri-Ann was wonderful--really helpful and well educated on the Aveda product line. What the heck was the writer below saying??? How rude can one be?? Just wondering if they have truly been a client of Unruli?? I have had the best experience in Uli's salon. The staff is friendly, professional, and they in fact ALL know how to hold scissors!! The setting is relaxing, and it almost seems like a little "get-a-way" while getting my hair done! Frazier educated me to the straightening product Brazilian Blowout in a professional manner. My hair was very curly and frizzy, taking more than an hour to dry. After Frazier completed the process it is straight and looks more healthy than before. I can now dry my hair with little trouble and time. Uli cut my new straight hair with his talented and artistic flare. He also spent time educating me how to style my hair. I am now learning how to fix my "new do" in all of the many choices that I never had available to me before. This is a product that wears out after a while and I will definitely continue with the salon to keep repeating the process. With this product your hair gets more healthy the more that you have it applied. Great for color treated hair. The salon staff were great teaching an old gal some new hair tricks! My stylist, Korie, has been excellent every time I've gone to her! She is very knowledgeable about current styles and trends. The first time I went to the salon I got a cut, color and highlights. And, while they advertise that you can get a women's cut starting at $35, it cost me just shy of $200 for those 3 services! I almost fainted. I never spent that much on my hair before, but I loved the results! Great salon. I recommend it if you're not on a strict budget. more

I am so thankful to have come across Unruli! I have been salon shopping for quite some time, and my search is now happily over. My hair was cut by Korie, who not only really listened to what I was hoping the cut would be, but actually executed it. I have given the same explanation to the last few stylists I have seen, however she has been the only one to really get it. Frazier colored my hair beautifully. I had decided to go darker...which I have never done before...and the result is better than I could have imagined. The consultation with him was great. He listened and offered great suggestions on how to make the finished product what I wanted. He even customized shampoo for me! Korie and Frazier both were kind, interesting and approachable, as well as clearly skilled in their specialty area of service. The overall feel of authenticity and friendliness was not limited to my interactions with them, however. Each staff member at Unruli that I had contact with held these positive qualities. The salon itself is warm, inviting and uniquely designed. It is a stylish feel without a note of pretension. I found Unruli on Citysearch, and I tried it for the first time today.... I loved it!! My stylist was Lauren, and she was so friendly and gave me a great cut! Her consultation was thorough, she listened to my requests, and gave me great advice about my hair. The salon is stylish and sophisticated, but not pretentious. I have to admit I try to be a loyal salon goer but its hard these days when you can't just call and get an appointment! This salon is different. Its more than just a place to get your hair cut or colored you really do end up walking away feeling like you spent the afternoon with your friends. The first time I visited Unruli I called at the last minute and they got me in on a saturday within 2 hours of my call. Lauren and Valerie are amazing! I never felt out of place and I'm not what you would consider Hip and cool but they instantly become friends! I received an unbelivable hair cut and out of this world color that I love!!! I have returned several times and cannot imagine going anywhere else now. I love getting my hair colored while I overlook the backyard/deck. Just very relaxing and fun environment. I love the iced herbal tea they serve too...try it! I'm surprised to see there are any negative reviews I would recommend this salon to absolutely everyone...young and old, cool and not, conservative or liberal. I feel like a million bucks. I LOVED IT!!!! I am s salon hopper! That is I find it hard to commit to any one salon....but I left yesterday and thought "IAM HOME!" Not only was the haircut FABULOUS...my color is like a Rock Star...and believe me I feel like no rock star during the mundane of my daily activites but when I left I felt like a funky rock star!!!! Lauren cut my hair and she does it right! She is so creative and knows how your hair should work with your face and with the texture of your hair! (EDWARD SCISSORHANDS I must say)Frazier did my color (Have him wash your hair and make sure you get a hand massage!!!) He and Valeri took the time to check my skin tone, look at my eye color and then discuss it with me. My color was picked for what would look best on me! I did not just get the same o same o"nashville higlights that I have received from many other salons in Brentwood and Nashville. I even got my brows done,,HUGE difference! Bottome line...they were fun and entertaining, the space is beautiful, the sylists are knowledgeable and current and my hair looks GOOD! more

Unruli is *the best* salon I've ever walked in to. I have visited many salons that were not welcoming and Unruli definitely breaks that mold. The atmosphere is great and the staff wonderful. I walked in with a brassy, over processed, terrible mullet of a haircut and the staff at Unruli not only welcomed me, but fit me in to a very booked Saturday and I left feeling more beautiful than I have in years. Everyone there was polite and courteous to both my husband and I. Uli, the owner, actually did my cut. He was absolutely fantastic. He listened to my concerns and asked about what I was hoping for, then explained what he thought we should do with my hair before he cut it. Frasier did my color and he was just as wonderful. He also listened to my preferences/likes/dislikes and then had great recommendations for me. I could not be happier with the end result from either of these two sweet professionals. I would HIGHLY recommend going and have already booked my next appointment, because although they were able to fit me in today, it seems that Unruli takes care of a LOT of happy clients. I had the best experience at Unruli!! I had to wait just a few minutes past my appointment time, so the owner had one of his staff give me a massage while I waited. He took so much time with me and really wanted to give me the look I was hoping for. I have never been somewhere that took so long with me and made me feel like the most important person in the day. It was a fabulous experience and certainly worth the money. I wouldn't normally spend that much on a hair cut, but I would prefer to only get a hair cut a couple of times a year just to have that kind of service. more

I have had my hair cut from Dion's to Trim to Fruition. I have paid every price, but this is the best haircut I have ever had. Top that with excellent service and it's the perfect place. Uli, Lauren, a member of his team, literally are their to please the customer. They are willing to do whatever it takes to serve you. The salon itself is beautiful and everyone working their friendly and in the southern tradition "make you feel right at home." They make it their business to know me personally, my likes and needs. I rec'd a complimentary consult, cut & style recently and went in to this new salon in Franklin, TN. I decided to pay for a color/highlight since I knew the other items were free; indeed, I was treated like a VIP!! When I first stepped in the door I was greeted with warm hospitality, and a very feng shui? environment - it was immediately pleasing and made me relax. I was so surprised when the owner, Uli (pronounced "you lee") came over to introduce himself and consulted with Amber (my colorist)...I did not expect this at all! He pointed out my prior damage to hair and assured me that even though I was a "forty-something" I could still enjoy my long hair !! I showed him some magazine pictures and suggested color highlights, but said to follow their expertise/judgement...I trusted their process TOTALLY and was amazed at the results. They explained the color-product they would use for my hair was primarily ORGANIC in nature and would not harm my fine hair, as "other" bleaching/highlights I'd experienced at other high-end salons. Uli cut my hair himself and I got exactly what I wanted - a versitile "long cut". Thanks to my experience, I am going back next week to enjoy a facial from Rachel, (she waxed my eyebrows BEAUTIFULLY!) I was especially moved by Uli's sensitive manner in which he handled disclosure of prices...I VERY MUCH APPRECIATE knowing who charges what for services and also, the prices are BASED IN REALITY! I even decided I could afford purchasing a shampoo & conditioner from Aveda to protect my new color! The prices for salon items are clearly marked on the shelves - there is no need to discreetly turn the bottle over and "gulp" at the prices, as I used to do at "other" high-end salons in the area. I will be passing along the good news of this Unruli Salon - they RULE when it comes to managing this country girls' "unruly" hair!! THANK YOU!! From the moment I walked into Unruli, I felt like the staff really cared about me as a person and that this was a place to be completely at ease. Uli listened to what I wanted and addressed some Hair "issues" and problems that were in evidence due to a bad experience elsewhere. He talked to me about the long term plan and the short term plan and that the ultimate goal was healthy hair. Valerie is a genius with color and I really have enjoyed our conversations. Rachel is fabulous and has finally tamed my brows and I look forward to having a facial. My sister and other family members also to to Uli and Shane and have had great experiences. I feel that Uli and the rest of the staff truly care that I am happy about my experience. Perhaps the people who feel that the staff are "stuck up" need to address some personal issues because that was definitely not the case for me or the rest of my family. I have found a home for my hair, color, makeup and facial needs. If you want a haircut that fits you and your lifestyle, Unruli is the salon for you. Simply said, "I love them." Frasier and the staff at Unruli, you are amazing. I can't get over how straight my hair is. This Brazilian keratin stuff (forgive me for not knowing the proper terms for it), has done an incredible job on my hair! Once again, I've waited a couple of weeks before posting this review . . . because I can't believe how it continues to work! Having tried various relaxers in my hair before, I prepare myself to be disappointed after a few washes . . . not with this! In fact, Frasier and Unruli have been doing my hair for about 2 years and it keeps getting better and better! I also appreciate the friendliness of everyone there.
