Buyer beware!!! 8/10/2018

You just have to Google all their poor reviews to see how shady this company is. They have owed me a refund since December of last year and I can never get a straight answer out of them. They don't answer phones, return phone calls, or let you speak with the owners. I have them on multiple recordings telling me "your refund is on its way" "it's in the mail" etc.. We are new in town, but our neighbors and the locals told us this company is corrupt and has no integrity at all. It's just a matter of time until they get into trouble (again) for this pathetic behavior. more

Despicable Service 1/2/2018

I personally dropped them years ago! However, my 68 year old mother-in-law still has their tanks, and their non service! We are now in negative 0 weather conditions, my mother called them over 10 days ago, left messages for days.( at least 4 messages because they will not answer the phone) I personally called the Somerset office, finally go through on Friday and was told that they would get out on Tuesday. In the meantime, my mother is out of propane, we have 3 electric heaters running in a house that was built over 50 years ago!( very unsafe conditions) this is not the first time my mother has had non service from this company. They are despicable, you can not get them( main office) to answer the phone or return calls! My mother has a 2800.00 dollar credit on her account. (2800.00) There is always an excuse as to why that they cannot deliver but the fact of the matter is that they do not employee enough people to meet their demand, they are more concerned with building their bank account then provide the quality service that they say that they provide on their website! Do not use this company, you will regret it! Oh, I would not rate them with one star but it is necessary to create this review! more

Rip off read all the reviews wish I had 8/7/2015

Long story short they have our money because we prepaid they will not return our calls when they say they will. This company lied to us during the open house day at Equality, IL. The process of getting a refund looks bleak. They did cancel our contract. We have not got any gas from them yet they have our money. No one can tell us or are willing to tell us about a refund. No gas and no refund. Does this sound like a company you want to do business with? more

THIEFS! WORST company ever! PLEASE get your propane from "ANYONE" but them. 1/31/2014

1 star because I had to! Customer of Southern Propane Gas -aka- United Propane Gas for 15 yrs. July 2013 Pre-Booked 500 gal. of propane from Southern Propane Gas. Took a partial delivery on 10/21/2013 (307.59 gal.). Called on 01/17/2014 and asked for delivery of the remaining 192.41 gal. No indication given that there was a problem honoring our request. 2 weeks today, still no delivery. Called all day 01/27/2014 no answer, no message and no way to leave a message. Called again on 01/28/2014, after sending an email to Ken Walker, Manager at UPS (pleading for his help as my family is dealing with the flu and we've already turned 1 of our 2 heaters off to conserve) we were able to finally reach someone at the Columbia, TN office. Was told by Amanda Sanders the driver would be in our area either 01/29/2014 or 01/30/2014. 01/29/2014 came and went, no delivery. Contacted both the Columbia, TN office and Mr. Ken Walker via email on 01/30/2014 wanting confirmation of a 01/30/2014 delivery. Received this email from Amanda Sanders (Columbia office) at 3:30 pm on 01/30/2014 ... "I’m sorry that I haven’t got to return your call do to high volume of call orders coming in . The driver was going to come out your way yesterday when his truck messed up and he had to come back into shop. We are trying really hard to get to everyone and I want to apologize for the inconvenience. I know that when I talked to Mr. *** Tony did tell me he would be there either Wednesday or Thursday but since that happen with his truck I’m really not sure at this moment when he might be in your area and I don’t want to lie to you as soon as I find out when he might be in your area I will give you a call or a email whichever you would like. I would like to Thank you for understanding in this matter. Thank you , Amanda Sanders STAY AWAY FROM UPG ... find a HONEST, REPUTABLE company to purchase from. Arrogant, Uncaring, Billing Errors 9/14/2011

Good: Nothing I thought I would like having a local office but found that they control everything from Paducah and that the low paid employees they have serving as a front have no authority and don't really care if you have problems or not. Bad: Thebillilng was never correct I had four deliveries last winter, none of which were billed correctly on the delivery ticket. I guessed at the correct amount using the rate I was quoted for the first two deliveries On the last two deliveries, I waited until I received my statements from Paducah Even though I paid these each within two weeks or less of receiving the statements,I got a letter from their local "Office Manager" concerning my continued delinquencies. Improvements: Since I have switched to another propane supplier, I do not care what they do.. Other: They seem to think customers are less than a dime a dozen Perhaps time will teach them to appreciate what they had And I do mean HAD because people do not have to put up with their lousy customer service. more

The worst company you could possibly do business with! 6/8/2011

How an irresponsible company like this can stay in business is a mystery to me. They delivered propane to the wrong address, then expect me to pay for it. No apology, no nothing, just an arrogant letter saying it was delivered to a property I own and I must pay for it. The fact that they delivered it to a house that has been empty for 3 years seems irrelevant to them. This company is dishonest, irresponsible, arrogant and inept. Don't say you weren't warned! more

Totally Unresponsive 12/18/2010

Good: Their service here in Dayton, Tennessee, used to be topnotch and fairly priced so I switched to them from another local company who has the same troubles delivering gas that UPG now has. UPG is unable to deliver after several phone calls over two months, so go elsewhere if you need propane in the cold weather. I always pay promptly so I do not know what their problem is.... Bad: Unfilled promises instead of blunt honesty. If they would have said they could not take care of me this time around for a lack of a driver, no fuel, or whatever, I would have ordered elsewhere and later called upon them again. I am a reasonable person. I understand bottlenecks, employee absences, mechanical problems, etc. They never called me and they never delivered anything either in over two months. They are undependable and very poorly run. No way will I ever order from them again!. Improvements: I really do not care anymore what they do. If they really are in the propane business they should run theirs like one, and "furlough" their office help who cannot be honest and upfront with the customers who really need propane deliveries in the cold weather!. Other: Save yourself the time, money, and shivers because you will need to have a good woodstove by the time UPG in Dayton, Tennessee, gets around to you.. more

The Horror of Propane 12/27/2006

The UPG office in Paducah located at Cairo Road has a long reputation of being unco-operative and rude to its customers. As a result of their irresponsible behavior and lack of concern for my safety I am ending my business relationship with them. Ken Walker has issued a termination of services here in the middle of winter, because I complained about a tank which belongs to UPG and the fact that it has been leaking for two years. I am concerned they took my safety and my monetary loss so lightly. Numerous phone calls were placed regarding the tank and phone calls were never returned. One of their drivers caused the tank to leak by adding an additional gage to the tank and breaking off a bolt. I was not informed of the problem. Upon seeking a replacement tank and asking for compensation for the loss of gas Mr. Walker said he was cutting me off and picking up the tanks. I have extensive property damage because of the tank incident. I am seeking alternate heating here in the middle of winter because of Mr. Walker and the staff at UPG in the Paducah office. Others whom I know have ended their business transactions with UPG because of the same things happening to them. Susan Hines more
