Best

People have been telling me to check out The Spanish Kitchen for a while and I finally did. The food was really good! I had the lobster crepe as an appetizer and then the spicy pi...

Worst

I wrote the first LA Best Margarita artcile years ago. Now, this one is NOT it. Okay, but nothing special. The sour mix is simply not up to the task of the better liquors. Surpris...

Unworthy 10/10/2005

Probably the most overpriced eatery in Los Angeles. Management operates as dogmatic and heavyhanded. Alcoholic mixed drinks were skimpy, at $10 each, with heavy ice. Service was noticeably slow. Upon voicing dissatisfaction, staff sentiment turned antagonistic. An unpleasant experience and rip off taboot! Steer clear if possible. more

Great Atmosphere, Absolutely Horrible Service 10/10/2005

Beautiful restarant, could be so much more! Didn't have reservations for the 2 of us and was told that it would be 45 minutes (understandable on a busy night). After 45 minutes, was told it would be AT LEAST another 45 minutes. Complained to the hostess that if I was told that it would be over an hour and a half I wouldn't have stayed. Was seated 5 minutes after complaining. Food is expensive for what you get ($8 for chips and salsa!). To top it off they screwed up our order and brought out the wrong food TWICE! Tried to use cosmo card (printed $15 discount), but was told that they could only give me 15% off. Got the bill and apparently they can't do math either because I got $6 off a $70 bill. Great margaritas though. There are better mexican restaurants in LA! Pros: Atmosphere, Drinks Cons: Horrible Service, Average food, Expensive for quality more

Don't count on your reservation! 9/15/2005

This place is near my apartment so I thought it would be a fun place to take a bunch of friends visiting from out of state. I made a reservation for nine in hopes of eating dinner and heading to Prey (down the street) around 11. When we arrived one there was one hostress that gave us an attitude and had us wait for over 45 minutes for our table. Once seated the food was mediocre. The wait staff was surprisingly pleasant. The drinks were over priced but good. I'd try it out again, but I would not come back with visiting friends. This place made me embarassed of my quaint home of West Hollywood! Pros: Mojito with Champgne, Good looking people Cons: Food, Wait time, Management more

BAD MANAGEMENT!!!!! 7/21/2005

Completley disappointing and unfortunate for the person that hired the manager to represent this resteraunt The food was okay. We visited this place because the CosmoCards avertisement of the place was fresh and intriging. So at the end of our dinner I present my $15 off Cos Card and credit card to our waiter. He comes back with the check that was 15% less the bill. He sends the manager over. DOOM! The manger basicallly told me that the computer was computerized and there was nothing he could do about the $4 dollars extra that in my opinion the rfesteraunt should honor. Mind you it's not about the money. IT'S $4!!!!! AGAIN HE MADE ONLY A FEEEBLE ATTEMPT by offering non-drinkers a drink. After declining he said sorry and walked off dressed ratty shoes, dirty jeans and a t-shirt . They hired this guy to represent their establishment? BAD! more

Overly Priced and Noisy 7/10/2005

We find the Spanish Kitchen to be over priced and way too noisy. They do make fantastic (but expensive) margaritas, though. The food is a ... more

Way too costly ... service poor. 6/13/2005

Food not Spanish at all ... A charge for chips & salsa. Never been to a Mexican restaurant and had to pay for chips and salsa!!! No refills on the chips & the salsa bowl size was small .. very small. You do not get a lot for your money. The portions are very small for a mexican restaurant. We were even charged for hot sauce. Will never go back there again and will never recommend anyone to go there either. Valet parking prices were also high. Our waitress was a ding-a-ling. NEVER. Pros: Decore Cons: Too Pricey, Service Poor, Parking more

NO food! 6/9/2005

I was part of a party of 10. Our food took over an hour to be served to us. Different people kept bringing our food out until they were done serving....they forget my meal and no server came to our table again until everyone else was done eating. They took my meal off the bill, which deserves no praise considering it was never served to me! Poor service, poor food, high prices. NOT RECOMMENDED. I've eaten here once before and was not impressed by the food. That experience followed by my experience tonight means that I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE SPANISH KITCHEN AGAIN! Too bad, as I heard in their day they were really good. Cons: Slow service, NO service, NO consideration! more

Great Everything 5/16/2005

The Spanish Kitchen is a resturant you should go to if your in the mood for people and socializing. It's great to go in with a big group, though make sure you make reservations. This way your table can order a whole bunch of group food, keeping the bill resonable. They have the best tequila selection in LA, their food is tasty and not the usual "mexican" food you can get at any Baja fresh. They have good looking help and a great atmosphere, equiped with great lighting and music. Pros: Food, Great Service, Cool People Cons: Busy more

Overpriced & bad valet experience 5/13/2005

La Salsa fajitas are cheaper and taste better than the fajitas at the Spanish Kitchen. Drinks are way overpriced and not that great. The ambience is fabulous but try to sit in the back patio if you are looking for romance. Otherwise you feel a little like you are at an upscale frat party. Also, the valet broke my car key in the ignition. They paid for the locksmith to come get it out which was good but it was really inconvenient. Pros: decor, bathroom is lovely Cons: OVERPRICED, Average food more

UNBELIEVABLY RUDE HOSTESS 5/5/2005

The restaurant, food, ambience, waitress, etc. was great. However, the hostess was extremely rude. It completely brought down the experience. Other than her absolutely rude attitude, the night was ok. Pros: ambience, food, margaritas Cons: RUDE HOSTESS more

good atmosphere, bad entrees 4/26/2005

loved the atmosphere - the lighting was dim but perfectly so, and the crowd was fun. the appetizers were good - the entrees were horrible! i ordered a fajita platter, supposedly made with filet mignon, but i could hardly chew it - it was so tough. my friends and i joked about how our jaws hurt after chewing so much. Pros: atmosphere, appetizers Cons: overcooked meat more
