Editorial review from Citysearch 1/25/2013

Dr. Mott is a fabulous doctor. She is extremely thorough but does care about you and your health. She actually delivered me and she was my doctor up until I moved to Dallas. The practice is very popular, so waiting times can be long, but Dr. Mott does a good job of listening to you, giving her own feedback, and consulting with you on your visit and any next steps. more

If you're high risk go to an OB, if you're not, don't go! 8/30/2010

If you're not high risk, you're best of going to a birthing center or a home birth and having yourself a nice little water birth. It's great! The water, the other tools, and the staff/doulas work for pain management. Take a Bradley class or hynobirth class to help with pain also. This practice is not suited for normal births. One of my friends got a routine episiotomy there, is this 1950 for crying out loud? They always induce if you go over your EDD. 40% of inductions lead to c/s, and of those that don't, they lead to fetal distress because epidurals slow down labor. One of my friends had to get forceps to get her baby out, the other one's baby had breathing problems and had to go to the NICU. This shouldn't be happening, women are designed by nature to deliver babies! more

Get Ready to Wait 6/30/2010

My wife and I used the Women's Specialists for our first child because she was going to be coming to Houston very late in her pregnancy from out of state, and few people would accept us. We were very happy with our physician, but the wait times to get into to see her were just ridiculous. I don't think there was a single time that we didn't wait at least 2 hours from the time our appointment was scheduled.\r \r It became so unbearable that as soon as our baby was born, we switched OB/GYNs. I don't think we will be going back to them, because I can't imagine that a practice can manage to be that over-scheduled and not have the quality of its care negatively affected. In fact, there were a few occassions on which we had to get a procedure done at our OBGYN's request, and we ended up waiting an hour and a half after the procedure was finished just for the doctor to call and release us. They need to get their act together. Pros: Good Doctor Cons: Terrible Wait Time more

too much reliance on interventions 6/18/2010

Well, sadly, I was disappointed with my experience with the midwives. Everything was fine until the end when they insisted on inducing my labor. If I didn't agree I couldn't remain their patient. As is predictable, the induction, pitocin, etc., all led to a stuck baby and a c-section. Then when the pain from pitocin was just unbearably excruciating, I wasn't given an epidural when I broke down and begged for one. I really liked them and hate having to write a negative review. They didn't advocate for the type of birth I wanted and they went straight to medical intervention.\r \r Pros: kind people, good prenatal care Cons: not completely committed to natural birth more

Research these doctors 12/28/2009

I was formerly a patient at Women's Specialists and had an okay experience with Dr. Bobo. I didn't care for the way the office was run, with waits up to several hours long. I was hoping for a VBAC but ended up being induced 1 day after my EDD and had several interventions leading up to another c-section. I didn't feel they were as pro-natural childbirth as I had heard. I also had a horrible hospital experience with one of their on-call OBs who is no longer part of the practice. Many of my friends have loved Dr. Dryden. Unfortunately, we all recently found out that she is performing abortions at Planned Parenthood. I would encourage any moms who value unborn life, to research this yourself before choosing her as your physician. I would personally find issue with a doctor caring for myself and my own unborn baby after taking the lives of many unborn children. Cons: One of the OBs performs abortions more

The Midwives are Amazing! 9/3/2009

After finding out I was pregnant I decided to leave my current OB-GYN and find a practice that had more personalized care. I didn't want to spend my pregnancy seeing a Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant instead of my doctor and then to have someone else entirely deliver my child unless I pre-scheduled an induction or c-section. I was determined to find a Midwife after hearing how they have more dedicated, personalized visits and would be the person that delivered your child instead of some stranger who happened to be on call at the hospital. I ended up finding The Midwives at the Women's Specialist and they are amazing. They are all board Certified Nurse Midwives so they have gone to school for both Nursing and Midwifery. You spend your pregnancy seeing all 4 midwives so that when you go into labor, you are guaranteed to have someone that knows you, your pregnancy, and your birth plan. They share a practice with 7 OB-GYN's so in case your pregnancy ends up high risk they can transfer you to one of the doctor's. I appreciate that as a first time mother, they take the time to answer all my questions, spend as much time as needed with me on each visit and are on call 24/7. I often get asked if I'm going to be birthing at home or in water because I'm using a midwife. Contrary to popular belief midwives do work at hospitals and deliver babies with lower cesarean rates, lower episiotomy rates, and provide better support than a doctor who simply walks in to catch a crowning child. I have had a very pleasant, stress-free pregnancy and wish that all women were able to have this kind of dedicated care! Pros: Personalized care during pregnancy more

Dr. Kimberly Bobo--Excellent OB-GYN 8/10/2009

Dr. Bobo is an exceptional OB-GYN and I am so fortunate that I was able to find her. Throughout my time as her patient, she has been very thorough, informative and nurturing. She has walked me through every step of my pregnancy and has made it less daunting than I thought it would be. Her nursing staff is professional, warm and informative and the follow up is wonderful. In addition to that, she respects her patients' time. I've never waited any longer than 15 or 20 minutes to be seen by her and for me, that speaks volumes. I would highly recommend Dr. Bobo to anyone seeking an OB-GYN, but especially anyone who is experiencing pregnancy for the first time. Pros: Thorough, Excellent Bedside Manner, Timely more

impossible to get through Dr. Galati assistant 1/6/2009

Have no doubts, that Dr. Galati is accomplished specialist, however, I?ve had a real hard time to get in touch with him and his staff. Pros: Distinguished liver specialist with many accomplishments (according to research) Cons: Wasting time to get through all the phone steps, mainly due to unresponsive assistant more

Good Doctor, But keeps you waiting for results 12/11/2008

I truly like this doctor and the staff. Very down to earth and friendly. Dr. Galiti sits down and speaks to you like you are old friends. But, I had a liver biopsy done a month ago and I'm still waiting for the results. I have sent numerous emails and called and nobody will talk to me about it. Pros: Very good doctor Cons: I'm still waiting for results more

Wonderful experience! 9/29/2008

I transferred care to the midwives when I was 36 weeks pregnant due to my former physician scheduling induction at 37 weeks. I did not want to be induced and there was no medical reason for the induction. My first visit was with Titi, who spent more time in one visit than my former doctor had spent with us during the entire pregnancy. The midwives made sure that we met everyone before I reached 40 weeks, which was very nice. I ended up being induced at 41.5 weeks due to being post date and decreasing fluid levels. Titi started my induction and had a very good bedside manner. Theodorah was there for the rest of my labor and delivery. I cannot say enough positive things about her. I had a very healthy 8lb. 9oz. baby boy. I never had to remind them of my birth plan, it was followed very closely without me ever mentioning it. The only changes from it were either initiated by me or were medically necessary. I felt as though my husband and I were able to make decisions with Theodorah's guidance. She gave us options and let us choose. My labor progressed slowly and we tried everything to kick start it before using pitocin. I felt very comfortable with the care I was receiving the whole time. I would highly recommend using the midwives. Pros: Quality of Care, returns calls more

Best Doctor 2/12/2008

I love doctor Damla Dryden, she is very good doctor, amazing and taking good care of her patients any time.\r \r Thank you very much for taking care of mine more

Dr. Kimberly Bobo 9/18/2007

\r I'm patient of Dr. Kimberly Bobo for 8 month of my pregnancy.\r She is fantastic and office is great too. Thw waiting time is normal as for any other OBG offices. Things can get preaty chaotic scpesialy if the doctor is at the delivery and you had a luck to wait. \r Dr. Bobo is always organized and give attention, you have all the trime ask your questions as long as you have it. Just prepare them in advance and put them out on the paper. Even without waiting, you can forget what ever you came for sometimes. Depence where your mind is and sometimes it is very hard to remember when you are under the stress.\r \r I'm delivering with Dr. Kimberly Bobo, and thanks God, i feel so confident about her and her decision and tha she realy cares otherwise, by now, i will be lossing my mind over delivery. I will post further review some time after delivery. \r But the botoom line is Dr. Kimberly Bobo is fantastic doctor. I'm very glad that i end up with her...and office is VERY PROFESSIONAL And organize. It is a good feel to be there..... more

One of the best physicians ever! 7/11/2007

My wife has hepatitis C and we spent over 3 years being seen and treated by other physicians in and around the Houston area. None of them showed the expert care, and caring way that Dr. Galati showed to my wife and our entire family. We were very scared, and he was able to calm us down. This is a doctor that takes the time to explain things, and while he is very busy, you never feel rushed. He has a very nice staff, and they all seem interested in providing excellent care. The wait is very much woth it if you have any kind of liver disease. Pros: GREAT physician, caring, good sense of humor, talented photographer Cons: Parking more

Best OB-GYN! 6/5/2007

After discovering I was pregnant with our second child, a new friend of mine referred me to her OB-GYN, Dr. Damla Dryden. We were new to Houston and appreciated a good referal. When I called for my first appointment, the receptionist politely suggested another doctor see me since I had not had my first official pregnancy exam and I would have to wait a couple of weeks to see Dr. Dryden. Usually, I would comply. But something told me to insist on seeing Dr. Dryden, which I did. I did not mind the wait since I felt great and everything seemed to be going well with my pregnancy (I was approx. 10 weeks along). Somehow, we were able to get an appointment with Dr. Dryden within a week! The night before my appointment, I started spotting very lightly. Recognizing the symptoms, I immediately panicked because I had miscarried once before. While my husband tried to reassure me, I couldn't help but remember the agonizing experience. My worst fears were realized on the way to the doctor, when I started hemorrhaging. I waited a short while in the waiting room before being seen by Dr. Dryden and her medical staff. Unlike my first experience, with two agonizing emergency room trips, poor bedside manners and a DNC after all; Dr. Dryden showed compassion, professionalism and HEART! She performed the procedure right there and then, sparing me any further physical pain and discomfort. All the while, she and her staff were kind, helpful, compassionate and displayed utmost bedside courtesy. She obviously loves what she does and is extremely professional and proficient! I have since had several follow-up visits and each experience has been consistently excellent! She's the best doctor I have ever known!!!! Pros: Quality of care, friendly and caring environment, professionalism Cons: Waiting room time: but no worse than any other doctor's office - worth the wait! more
