So yesterday we came home and found that our beloved parakeet had passed away while we were gone. A parakeet that we had gotten from pet warehouse. This is the fourth parakeet t...

Cute animals, horrible employees. 8/18/2012

This store would be so much better if the employees weren't so horrible. Maybe all of them aren't bad but from what I've seen they are. Last time I was there, one of the employees was cleaning the puppy cages, she would leave the puppy's in the cage while she lifted up the floor grate. The puppy's would have to cling on to it and be squished against the wall. She was so nasty to the puppies and just threw them around like they were dolls. Also, we played with one of the puppies, and it stepped in its poop. Another employee just put it back in its cage and left the poop on its foot. Gross? The birds are also an issue in my mind. They cover the cages so no one can play with them. Then by the time they uncover them the birds are unsocialize. All the kittens usually look sick and sometimes too young to be sold. They have very cute animals, the employees just don't seem to have the patience or care for the animals though. more

Their puppies are in good condition and so are their kittens 5/30/2012

I don't understand all the negativity. My husband and I bought a Golden from this place about 6 months ago and we paid 600 for her. She is amazing!! The staff has its moments but what place doesn't? And considering individuals who have no intentions of buying an animal are always harassing the animals and letting their children play with them I would be pretty pissed too. ITS NOT A PETTING ZOO!! Their puppies are in good condition and so are their kittens. They are well fed and healthy. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. more

I purchased our first pet from the place 5/23/2012

I have been going in and out of this store since 2004. I purchased our first pet from the place. I was lucky to have bought a dog that was bred by one of the store personnel. Great temperament with Champions in the bloodlines for the last three generations. The perfect addition to our family. The staff are nice and I have not encountered any rude members as of yet. more

This store has very polite and helpful employees 5/17/2012

This store has very polite and helpful employees. I have a ferret that I bought from them almost 4 years ago. I have been taking her there almost weekly to have her nails trimmed. They don't require me to make an appointment to do it, and it doesn't matter when I get there, as long as I get there before it closes at night. more

Salt Water Tank 5/8/2012

I first started my salt water tank on a whim, and with the Pet warehouse's knowledgeable team I was able to go from a small ten galleon salt tank to a 25 gallon to a 55 gallon. Thanks to Chuck and his team in the fish department even though we have moved all over the place! Including Texas where we are now stationed. I still call them for advice on anything Saltwater. I'm not a pro by any means, but at least if I don't know what I am doing, I can always ask Chuck and his team for great advice. The knowledge of corals and fish are great. I had purchased a Orange Tree Coral, one elephant skin coral and one snowflake moray eel. With there help i had orange coral ALL Over the place! It was great and exciting. Thank you so much! With there help I am as confident as ever. Thank you Chuck! more

I have had nothing but outstanding support 5/4/2012

I am a proud owner of an Argentine Red Tail Boa, a Columbian Red Tail Boa, and a Corn Snake. I go to Pet Warehouse every Sunday to purchase feeder mice and rats. I have had nothing but outstanding support from the reptile department. I bring in my snakes from time to time to address health concerns or just for general suggestions and advice. I have never been turned away and the service has been extremely professional. The mice and rats have always been free of parasites and they've kept my animals healthy. I recently brought in my Imperator to get examined and the whole process was timely and FREE. more

Staff was amazing 4/24/2012

We purchased an African Red Bellied Parrot recently, and the staff was amazing. We were not sure that we could afford such an expensive pet, but they let us put a deposit on the bird and kept him there for one month, which was totally against their policy. They said the only reason they were holding it for us was because they could see it was going to a great home. They obviously care where the pets are going. They also said that if they get any negative feelings about a potential customer that they will try to deter them from buying a pet at there store to prevent it from going to a crummy home. So maybe they were rude to all these folks who wrote bad reviews b/c you gave a bad impression. They even had other potential buyers of our bird come in before we put in our deposit and they told them it was sold. They wanted to ensure the bird would make it to a safe home, and they chose well. Our bird Manny (Emanuel Pigford The Bird) came home happy and healthy, and has continued to bring fun into our household. World class pet store. If you go there you should be prepared to sell yourself not them try to sell to you. Or you could go to a chain and support puppy and cat mills if you like, search puppy mills and get ready to be horrified. Go Pet Warehouse! You do a great job! Screw these bad pet owners. more

Very knowledgeable and eager to help 4/18/2012

The management and sales people at Pet Warehouse have always been very knowledgeable and eager to help me.Since moving to this area over 2 years ago, I have taken my ""high fear"" Shih-tzu regularly to their groomer. I did ask about the collar used to restrain ""Misty"" and was told, ""It is a humane collar used by trainers & groomers so dogs do not jump out of the tub or off the table and hurt themselves."" It looks like a choke collar to someone who does not know, but IT IS NOT!I have seen the groomer gently guide the larger dogs into their kennels with her foot. I have always noticed they hold the smaller high fear dogs in their arms. The groomer patiently and gently worked with my dog, who is very skiddish, bathing and clipping. ""Misty"" now gets excited, wagging her tail when I drop her off and pick her up.I have recommended Pet Warehouse and their groomer to 3 of my friends who also have become regular customers. more

HORRIBLE PLACE 3/19/2012

If it wasn't required I'd give this place no stars at all. I bought my puppy here $1235.00 and I was not informed that it had a genetic defect. One of the males testicles will not decend which the vet said will not could will cause cancer. Also there was smaller things that the so called breeder should have done for the puppy. This place had the worst customer considerations, lack of professionalism, and poor resolutions. For my yorkie to be okay I have to have him fixed they are only willing to pay 120 of s $450 bill. Won't by again.... BUYERS BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. AWFUL!!!! WON'T EVEN ISSUE A REFUND FOR A NEW DOG. more

a satisfied customer 10/5/2011

This store has very polite and helpful employees. I have a ferret that I bought from them almost 4 years ago. I have been taking her there almost weekly to have her nails trimmed. They don't require me to make an appointment to do it, and it doesn't matter when I get there, as long as I get there before it closes at night. There has been 2 occasions where my ferret had an accident on the way to the store and they didn't mind bathing her for me, and with a reasonable fee. I asked if I needed to pay for the shampoo they used and they said I didn't, even though I saw them pull it off their shelf just to use it on her. I haven't had any bad experiences there and I've been going there regularly for 4 years. When my ferrret was sick I asked their advice as to what they think would help her. They told me about an over the counter medicine I could try for her. They didn't have the product in their store at the time, so they couldn't have told me about it just to make a sale. I did go more

Diseased Pets and Disrespect 1/29/2011

I bought a mini-rex rabbit from them and it was a horrible experiance. He seemed fine at first but then suddenly fell ill and started to have seizures and couldn't stand up. He died at the pet store when we tried to take him back. They said they couldnt do anything for us but give us half off on another bunny. Then they accused us of not watering the bunny properly and said he was dehydrated when I watched him drink water all day. Whenever we tried to talk to them about it they kept trying to blame us. They never once said they were sorry about it. Then they told us that they could take him and bury him on a plot of land they had. Does this happen all the time I wonder???? The one lady was very rude and tried to compare the bunny's condition to a human and when my hubby said that wouldnt even make sense (he is a corpsman in the Navy) she just blew him off. And when the next sales associate came up she told her that she was done talking to him because he was a corpsman. What the heck is more

lied to, and a sick pup 12/13/2010

I bought a puppy there about a year and half ago and was told she was a pit bull, when i went to purchase her one of the ladies at the counter said "oh the pit mix" and was hushed by the other lady working there saying no its a pure pit, looking at the puppy you could tell she was mixed but i fell in love with her anyway, they couldnt have just told me the truth they were so rude, on the same day my friend bought a puppy too and within weeks found out the poor guy was extremely sick and had to be put to sleep. those poor dogs are in horrible living environments and are in such bad shape, i have no problem buying food and toys there but they need to stop selling puppies!!! more

Wonderful place ,exceptional people 11/15/2010

I live in Wilmington, which is about an hour from Jacksonville. I Own large Exotic birds and find it difficult to find toys of the appropriate size for my birds at any local pet store. I was excited when my Neice ( who was stationed at Camp Lejune ) told me of this great place with large bird toys. So I took the trip to The Pet Warehouse. I was amazed at all the stuff they had and took great pleasure in socializing with the birds. I purchased a few large toys for my birds and proceeded to the checkout. The women at the register was quite nice. It was months before I had to go back.however when I did return I again had a wonderful experience. The women at the register did remind me that I needed to use hand sanitizer before I touched the birds. She was very polite about it. I think it is great that they keep such watch over the interaction with the animals. I could see where some might take this as them being rude , but would you want the animals to die because someone brought in a di more

Get a life 10/13/2010

OK First of all if you are going to write crap on here learn how to Fu***** spell. Second You have no idea where these dogs came from so do not assume that they are from a puppy mill. and third if you think it is so bad you don't have to shop there go some where else and stop your Complaining. If you think the pound is so much better go there then. And some people should have to take a test before buying an animal cause there idiots. And for rude employees if you had to deal with ignorant people like you all day you would be rude too. more

Needs a new staff 9/2/2010

I spend a lot of money in there for my dog and fish. the groomer there is awesome and the peeps who handle the fish r awesome. but the check out lady is very very very rude. she almost makes me want to take my money else where. it would be a wonderful place if there were some changes in the staff that is there. more

I had a good experience 6/6/2010

I bought my beagle here about a month ago. She is healthy, active, and very sweet. She's been hard to potty train, but that's a beagle for you. She was not overpriced, but some of the puppies there are. \r \r I wouldn't just go by these comments to decide if you want to shop here; if I did then I wouldn't have my sweet puppy (whom is barking at me as I type this). The lady that was working with the puppies the day I got her was really nice... but there are some not so friendly employees there also. The girl with the black hair and peircings is nice, and so is the red haired lady. \r \r My experience was good, just remember that the puppies you get have not been trained in any way... so it will bite, bark, and go potty everywhere until you train it. That is not the store's fault. more

Not a Great Place 6/4/2010

I have lived here for 11 years and have gone many times to pet warehouse. Depending on the worker and the day depends on your experience. The fish people seem pretty knowledgable, but the fish are way overpriced, and you have a 0-7 day warranty on them. You can go right across the street to PetSmart and pay 1/2 the price for a 2 week warranty- no questions asked. Unforunetly they don't sell saltwater fish over there. Anyways, years ago I had a snake and used to purchase my food from them. One day I went to go get 2 mice, and one of the mice jumped out of his hand and onto the floor. He proceeded to stomp on it and leave it twitching on the floor. I was really in shock and horror. I know my snake was going to kill it in a few minutes, but somehow that seemed very different than this guy stomping the mouse in front of the customers, some who had kids. I also know for sure they do not test their cat for anything, as I know for a fact they sold some w/ feline leukemia. So while this is not more

If you don't have the money you don't deserve the pet! 3/22/2010

First of all I think people need to learn to do research-if you are told an animal should only weight this or that much and it goes over or something-think about it-ALL ANIMALS ARE DIFFERENT-you just might have gotten one that is so different its a lil over the pounds- the fact of the price is a GOOD THING-think about it if a person is willing to spend that much money that shows they are willing to TRULY take care of the animal. If you're willing to put that much money aside for the animal you are also willing to get it help if there were an emergency and not wait simply because you don't want to spend the extra cash. An animal, pet, should be no differently treated than a child-meaning you'd do and give anything and everything for it! Most people don't so they rat and rave about the prices and such. If you don't have the money for the animal then you most likely wouldn't have the money to take care of it or get it help if there were a problem. \r Not to say there are rude emplyees here- more
