DO NOT BUY FROM THEM PLEASE LISTEN TO EVERYONE! 3/14/2008

I purchased two small kittens from the Petware Warehouse in Jacksonville, NC both were tabby cats very cute. I was told they were dewormed and had shots.\r \r I didn't receive any paperwork saying they had shots and I didn't realize it until I got home.\r \r Once I got home one of the kittens started vomiting blood and long round worms!\r what the hell?\r \r So I took them both to the vet and the vet said they had all 3 types of worms and were going to die.\r \r I went back to the warehouse and I demanded my 150 dollars back!\r They said i'm S O L I can't get my money back!\r \r I still have those sweet kittens they are well taken care of now but DON'T BUY FROM THEM! more

I have been going in and out of this store since 2004. I purchased our first pet from the place. I was lucky to have bought a dog that was bred by one of the store personnel. Great temperment with Champions in the bloodlines for the last three generations. The perfect addition to our family. The staff are nice and I have not encountered any rude members as of yet. There are a few that are experienced with the specimins they sell and then there are those that are there because it is a job.\r Being one of only a few shops where the local community can aquire instant gratification when it comes to purchasing a pet, I would advise anyone to do their homework first. This is just being smart. If you run out w/o doing so and you bring home a animal that suddenly isn't the cute little baby "doll" you thought it would be, it is as much your own fault as the pet stores.\r This store does sell most of their dogs from Kansas brokers, which in turn aquire the animals from kennels in that area. Don't shop here!!!!!!! 10/16/2007

I went to the pet warehouse on 10-13-07 with my daughter. She had seen a little shih tzu and wanted me to see her. The puppy was very skinny, and she had no teeth. I told the worker the puppy had no teeth and how was she eating hard dog food? The employee said she was eating fine. I wasn't going to get the puppy, but on my way home I felt like if I didn't purchase the dog it would starve to death. This was Sat. night at 8:45, I turned around and went back to the pet store. The puppy was purchased for $600.00, they told me in order to have the warranty I must purchase a bag of the hard dog food she was supposedly eating, so I did. When I got home I tried to feed her and she wouldn't eat. I tried her on several kinds of soft dog food, I put water on her hard dog food and she wouldn't eat anything. Finally, on Sunday I got her to drink a little milk and eat about a thimble full of soft food. I took her to the vet. monday. After examining her he told me her glucose level was at more

Please don't support puppy mills! 10/16/2007

My husband and I did the unthinkable - we actually bought a puppy from a pet store! (The Pet Warehouse). We are responsible people, and we know that buying directly from a breeder is the way to go.....but we fell in love with one of the puppies. I can't say that I ever regretted buying our dog because she is such a special part of our family; but there is no doubt in my mind that she came from a puppy mill. When we received her papers a few months later, they indicated that before she even arrived at the pet store, she had been to two other kennels! That means that before the age of 8 weeks, she had been shipped all over the place. She is from Kansas, which is notorious for puppy mills. I don't wish that we had never visited The Pet Wharehouse because I love our puppy with all of my heart.....but I will never ever patronize their establishment again, or any other pet store that sells dogs. So please, help shut down puppy mills and DON'T buy from them. more

Please seek a reputable breeder for your pet purchase!!! 7/16/2007

PLEASE Do NOT purchase a pet form this store. They support back yard breeders who have no idea what it means to properly beed an animal. Animals that are bred should be bred to improve the bloodline of that breed not to make a buck. Reputable breeders breed for the love of the animal, they often don't profit from the sale of thier pups because they put so much into them and producing a quality healthy animal. All sorts of health issues can arise from inproperly bred animals and you end up with a sick pet that ends up being given away or worse put to sleep. \r \r Don't throw your money away on an animal from this store. And don't support what they are doing. more

Nothing but thieves and liers 2/12/2007

I have recently puchaced a puppy from these people. I originaly bought a cocer spaniel. I was buying this dog for my family expecially my two small children. Before buying the puppy we had a lot of questions. My main concern was if this dog would be good for my children. The staff assured me that this puppy and breed would be great. so we bought her. Then after 8 days of owning the dog she visiously atacked my 3 year old for no reason at all. then bit my husband when he pulled the puppy off of my daughter. We immediatly called the pet shop. The Pet shop then told us that our 7 day warrenty on the puppy was up and we were S.O.L. Outrages enough by this time I then asked for the owners phone number. The girl who worked thier would not give it to me. I had to search via internet. that night I left messages for the owner. He called my husband the next morning telling him that they would take the puppy back but would only give us store credit for $524.99 when we paid $599.99 for the puppy o more

Don't buy from this pet shop 1/15/2007

My son is in the Marine Corps and visit this store several times to purchase a puppy...he and his fiancee had talk extensively with the workers and visit numerous times this store until deciding to buy a pet from them...not only that they assure about their reputation, but how their animals where well taken care of, and had their shots and were all healthy and after purchasing their pets that we could take them to a vet to verify their word...two days after having the poor little dog he was having some problems with their movement so they took the pet to the emergency veternarian hospital ...the vet told them the poor pet had three types of worms, and that he was even surprised if he even had his shots or they didn't know if they said they take care of their animals...when we call their manager ...they just argue with you, and make you the liar instead of paying for the emergency visit...or saying, I am sorry...my son couldn't handle and didn't want to return the pet ...we figured that more

Always Professional,Knowledgable, CARING & HELPFUL!!!! 11/28/2006

When I noticed the FALSE, slanderous opinions mentioned in Denna M's review, I just had to speak out and voice my very positive experiences and remarks. The management and sales people at Pet Warehouse have always been very knowledgeable and eager to help me.Since moving to this area over 2 years ago, I have taken my "high fear" Shih-tzu regularly to their groomer. I did ask about the collar used to restrain "Misty" and was told, "It is a humane collar used by trainers & groomers so dogs do not jump out of the tub or off the table and hurt themselves." It looks like a choke collar to someone who does not know, but IT IS NOT!I have seen the groomer gently guide the larger dogs into their kennels with her foot. I have always noticed they hold the smaller high fear dogs in their arms. The groomer patiently and gently worked with my dog, who is very skiddish, bathing and clipping. "Misty" now gets excited, wagging her tail when I drop her off and pick her up.I have recommended Pet Warehouse more

The Pet Warehouse Groomers 10/3/2006

Where does one begin but to say, "Stay Away." Our English Bulldog was dropped off after speaking with the groomer that morning. Upon dropping her off, the groomer immediately placed her in a kennel (kicking it). She wore at the co-worker regarding holding a dog being groomed. Once we arrived to pick her up, she was not done, she had a choker collar around her neck and leased to the door knob. I spoke with the manager and she said she would check, gave all types of excuses. Each being our dog was bad. The co-worker said she was not, a happy dog. If you wish to have your dog in an area that is unprofessional, yelling at your pets, abusing them then take them to the Jacksonville, NC Pet Warehouse. People like her, should never be allowed animals! PROS: None CONS: Rude, obscene language, unprofessional and abusive to animals. more

Not a dime of my money! 9/18/2005

I visited the Pet Warehouse and talked extensively to the manager about the way his dogs were obtained. He assured me that they didn't come from puppy mills but from local breeders. Do people not realize backyard breeders are just as dangerous as the large puppy mills? REPUTABLE breeders DO NOT sell to pet stores. It's a known fact. Until people educate themselves, animal negliect and abuse will continue. The smell from the PW would be enough to keep me from making a purchase, but the selling of animals will definately keep me from spending one single dime at this place. PROS: None CONS: Backyard Bred Puppies sold without care for who's buying them. more

Great place for a little bit of everything 8/2/2005

This store has any pet supply a pet owner could need. They also have dogs and cats from local breeders so you do not have to worry about it being from a puppy mill. I purchased my latest puppy from there and the puppy is very healthy. I have also purchased kittens in the past. They have a small fee for kittens. They state the fee is to make sure you are responsible with the kitten. Their puppies are on the expensive side, but like I stated before, they are not from puppy mills. All the animals sold, come from respected local breeders. They also have fish, birds, reptiles, rodents, and lots of other pets. When you enter the building it has a funky smell, but it is to be expected when there are so many animals inside. PROS: Almost any supply you could need for a pet CONS: The funky smell inside the store. more
