Best Crab Cakes Ever! 12/2/2009

We have been to Oceanaire at least six times, and every time has been an amazing experience. Their food is excellent with our favorites being the Crab Cakes (seems like 95% crab with just enough filling to keep them together), and the Alaskan King Crab legs. Although there are times I enjoy cracking some crab legs, they offer the choice to have it fully shelled so you just get a heaping pile of steaming hot crab meat ready for dipping in butter. It makes it much easier to eat, and not as distracting to conversation. The service is some of the best we have ever had, and can be enhanced by a quick call to make a reservation and let them know about special occasions or requests. The staff greats us by name (even the first visit - good situational awareness given time and party size), and are attentive without being overbearing. An easy example of their training and attention to detail is that the tables are decorated with white linens, but if one is wearing black, they switch the napkin out to black. They accomplish this so smoothly most do not notice, thus preventing ruining a great meal by standing up to white lint on that pretty black dress! Make sure to call ahead to make sure they have the Alaskan King crab as it is not always in season. This is our favorite seafood restaurant in Orlando, and in the top 3 for the whole state. We have recommended it to many friends, and none have been disappointed. Other tips: there is free valet (make sure to tip), and it is easier to access when heading NE on I-drive. You will see the Capital Grill sign first, take the next 45 right entrance, and you will then see Oceanaire right after the Capital Grill. Give your waiter your valet ticket when you pay the bill, and they will have your car brought up to prevent a wait. Pros: Service, Crab Cakes, AK King Crab more

Glad I walk in... 9/24/2009

I am in Orlando, Fl with my job for 3 weeks. I just so happen into Oceanaire by accident. I had gone to another restaurant in the same center, and was treated so poorly, I got up and left. From the moment I walked into the restaurant, I was introduced to the host staff, then taken to the bar area to wait for my table and was introduced to the staff there. I wanted to sit on their patio, and enjoy the nice weather, and do a little people watching while I was at it. Mike, one of the bartender, was my server, and was absolutely AMAZING. I never felt uncomfortable that I was sitting there alone, he was very attentive, without being annoying. One of the managers came out toensur that I was being taken care of, and to make sure my visit was memorable. I am in the service business as well, and although the food was probably the best I have had while in Orlando, it is the service that will bring me back to visit. I have already told so many people about my experience at both restaurants tonight, they may not remember the 1st restaurant that I walked out of, but, they will certainly remember the 2nd restaurant, I will keep reminding them. I have colleagues joining me at the end of the month, and that will be the first place I take them, as well as my family when we are here on vacation in November! Keep up the great job of giving your customers the experience they deserve!!! KUDOS!! Pros: The service was been the best in Orlando, so far!!! more

Your fish smells 4/15/2009

found out they were sued companywide in late 08 by the Discovery Channel for claiming to serve ""Deadliest Catch"" king crab and charging gullible customers who thought they were getting real Time Bandit crab. Turns out their crab is from the same generic supply as everyone else sells in Orlando. Pros: Makes life good for Ocean Prime Cons: the fish comes from the same vendors as everyone else uses more

Very best seafood 10/28/2008

Went there Friday and Sunday night. Both times with 5-9 people.\r Some of the best seafood any of us have ever had.\r Fantastic quality and service.\r The blackened halibu served oscar style is amazing.\r \r Pros: everything more

The Best Ever!!!!!!!!!!! 7/21/2008

I love this place! There was nothing bad about it! The greatest service from Chaz and Maria. The managers treated us great. Now lets get to the most important thing. The food! It was the best food I have ever tasted. The sides were even great. It wasn't regular sides. The chef is great he took regular sides like corn and made it taste like the best corn in the world. It was the most fantastic food. I have two words for anybody that goes here. Crab Cake! That was the best! Best Meal I ever had! Pros: Everything! Cons: Nothing! more

Wonderful Dining Experience 6/14/2008

I wanted to find a special place for dinner to take my date, and this place exceeded all my expectations (and hers!), The staff was very attentive and friendly, and the food sellection was wonderful. Everything served is fresh and flown in each day. The selection of fish and wine is not to believed. You can see from the attitude of everyone, they wish their guests to have a wonderful dinning experience. I looked at some of negative comments made about this place and I can only say they must have been talking about another place! The only ""problem"" I had with the place was that with so much variety on the menu it was hard to decide what to order!! Pros: Great seafood selection. extensive wine selection Cons: None!!! more

Great Food and Service! 6/8/2008

The Oceanaire Seafood Room is truly a unique experience compared to all the Orlando restaurants available. It is the one place I can go and know when I walk through the door I will be greeted by the management and host staff as if I were family. The staff is knowledgeable on the drinks and menu to help you make the right choice of what to have. The atmosphere is like a relaxing getaway..I love the palm trees and oyster bar! The food is out of this world. I cannot go without having the fried calamari and lump crab meat appetizers! You really can?t ask for a better restaurant. It is the one that you will talk about after you leave wanting more. Pros: Great Location in Pointe Orlando- Good for a night out on the town for dinner and a movie. more

A real winner; superlative food and attentive wait staff, outstanding management 6/6/2008

Dining at the Oceanaire was truly pleasurable. Our party of six was seated promptly and treated royally. The manager and wait staff were attentive and solicitous. The food was superb. We ordered six different entrees and each was prepared perfectly. The portions were more than adequate and each entree was accompanied by some exceptional side dishes. The wait staff was especially helpful regarding side dishes and portion size. Topping it all of was some exquisite desserts.\r \r All in all, the Oceanaire is a delightful dining experience. I only get to Orlando two or three times a year but you can be sure that the Oceanaire will be part of each visit I make. I'd love to see one in Tampa or Sarasota in the near future. Pros: Superb food and quality service more

Mouth watering food and exquisite desserts; professional in every respect 6/6/2008

After visiting the Oceanaire Seafood Room in Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC, I was prepared for a quality dining experience. Orlando topped my expectations in every respect!\r \r The appetizers and entrees were superb and the desserts exquisite. The food is matched by top notch service that is delivered in a timely and professional manner.\r \r As far as I'm concerned, the Oceanaire is not only one of the best seafood restaurants in Orlando; it's one of the two or three of the best restaurants serving any type of food in the city. Don't mss it! Pros: ambiencxe, food, service more

Glad this place was recommended by hotel 6/5/2008

This place has a sturdy wine list and a wide range of entrees. Good place to bring a group, as everybody will find something to love. We had some special requests at our table, which were done happily by the kitchen. Very nice experience. Bring a jacket for the air conditioning inside. more

very good 6/5/2008

Very good overall food and service, nice wine list, fresh flavors, highly recommend this restaurant. more

Delightful 6/5/2008

What a pleasant surprise to find a top-notch seafood house in Pointe Orlando. I just thought I would go to the movies at the new theater there, and stumbled upon the best crab cakes and biggest martinis in town. The calamari was spicy and the gigantic warm brownie had puddles of hot fudge and hot caramel. I wish I had known about the valet parking (free) before I parked in the garage for the movies. Service was good, food was excellent. Pros: free valet parking, perfect cocktails more

Amazing Food and Atmosphere 6/5/2008

I heard this place was voted Best Seafood Restaurant in Orlando and I saw it on the morning news, so I decided to try it for a birthday event. Great bar, great appetizers, beautiful decor, the best desserts I have ever had. It was definitely a memorable event. It was too hot to go out on the patio, but we will try that at another time of the year. This place is like no other seafood place in town - very stylish and high quality. Pros: Free valet, mind-blowing crab from Deadliest Catch more

POOR SERVICE, AVERAGE FOOD 5/2/2008

NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. VERY POOR SERVICE. ALOT OF EMPLOYEES STANDING AROUND TALKING. FOOD WAS OK, BUT I HAVE HAD BETTER. Pros: FOOD WAS GOOD Cons: SERVICE more

great seafood, not so great managment 4/3/2008

My husband and I dined here for our aniversary. When we entered the restaraunt both the manager and host greested us, the manager said that it would be just a moment as he sent the hostess to set us up a booth, which was appreciated since this is what we would prefer. About 5 minutes later we were seated by the hostess at a table, not a booth. The hostess replaced my white linen napkin with a black one, as I was wearing a black skirt, what a nice touch and great way to add that little extra. Our server Alberto promtly greeted us and gave us an overview of the wine list and menu. A lady who was the service assistant quickly brought us water, bread, and a small relish tray. We ordered escargot as an appetizer, it was just okay, a lttle bland. I ordered the Salmon Oscar and my husband ordered the stuffed Louisana Redfish and a side of Asparagus to share. Our entrees were delivered to our table and our first bites were delicious and the asparagus was the biggest we had had ever seen. As we began to eat our entrees my husbands first 5 bites all had scale and bones in it. He would have delt with 1 or 2 but when you pay $30-$40 dollars for a peice of fish you would expect not to find any. So he told Alberto who quickly returned it and spoke with the Manager. The Manager did what I would call a ""walk by"" table visit and stated that sometimes this happens as the fish really is fresh and then appologized as he walked away. I finished my entree with only 2 bites that also had scales and shared a few bites with my husband. About 15 minutes later my husbands new entree was delivered, this time with no scales or bone. Overall the experience was good, the entress really were delicious and the service from both Alberto and the assistant was impeccable. We were just annoyed with the laziness of the prep work and with us having to eat our dinner seperatley. I thought that at least dessert or a round of cocktails would have been offered by the manager for this inconvenience. Pros: Service and flavor of food Cons: bones and scales found in a $40 entreee, managment more

Best Seafood in Orlando 11/23/2007

My husband and I eat out often and we are not too impressed with any seafood restaurant in Orlando; however, we walked out of the Oceanaire thinking it was one of the best meals we had ever had. I am a huge clam chowder fan and they had the best I'd ever tasted. The crab cake was almost all crab meat and full of flavor. My husband had the Swordfish served on top of carmalized onions - delicious! I ordered the Mahi Mahi with a Thai sauce served with sticky rice - delicious as well. We ordered two sides - creamed corn and spinach polenta with mushrooms. They were so good we could have had just the sides for our meal and been content! Everything from the decor to the service to the presentation of the food was top quality and worth every penny. I don't say this very often, but I don't have a single complaint about our experience at Oceanaire. The managers were pleasant and the service was spot-on. Orlando finally has a decent seafood restaurant!! Pros: Food, service, atmosphere Cons: Absolutley nothing! more

swanky! 11/20/2007

I was visiting on business for the Amusement Park convention last week and walked in without a reservation. I was seated within 15 minutes and had a great time! The waiter, Alberto, took great care of us and we will definitely be back! more

Crab Cakes are divine! 11/20/2007

Best Crab Cakes I have ever had! Great staff and service. Highly recommend it...be careful when big conventions are in town because they will be packed! Reservations are a must. more

Tremendous experience! 11/20/2007

The experience was exceptional. I truly appreciate the graciousness of the servers and bartenders. It was very evident the staff enjoys working there. Food is top-notch as well. Pros: Service, quality Cons: Loud more

The first review is a fake and a joke, read on and find out why. 11/17/2007

It is a funny thing indeed when the General Manager of what he claims is an excellent restaurant has to stoop to the low level of making a fake name and be the first one to post a bogus and very bias review of his restaurant. Clearly he knows and has no faith that the reviews will be the same unless he embelishes the reviews himself. Im talking about the first review on here for the oceanaire. It was posted by the G.M. to make his restaurant look good, quite pathetic! He even mentions to his employees to go on here and write raving fake reviews to make the restaurant look better, what a shame, it goes to show the lack of confidence and ethics the management staff of the oceanaire has. Pros: Conveniently located to an even better restaurant, Capital Grille!! Cons: very loud music, open floor is not intimate for dinning more
