Seafood Lovers, This Is Your Place! 9/23/2007

The Oceanaire Seafood Room has only been open since Memorial Day 2007. It is right next to Capital Grill on International Drive in Point Orlando (where FAO Swartz use to be) and is not really showing up in the reviews much yet. It is an exceptional dining experience. Their Ultra-Fresh Seafood is well prepared which is not always easy to find in Florida (go figure). The Wahoo was exceptional as was the Marlin and Swordfish. The Shrimp and Grits appetizer was notable as was the crab cake. The Baked Alaska was fun to see presented and even better to eat. The staff was personable, well trained and paid attention to the details. We were celebrating a Birthday and my mother really appreciated the menu printed in honor of her special day as well as being presented with a card signed by the staff. Just made it a memorable night. Even the bathroom is fun to visit with several jars and containers of lotion, makeup aides and mouthwash made available. These people really know seafood, so if that is what you seek, you can not go wrong here. Loved the music playing in the dining room. There is complementary valet parking that did not pose much of wait even though it was very busy when we left. Only constructive criticism I could offer is I feel the key lime pie missed the mark a little in depth of flavor but I am a bit snooty on the subject, having grown up on the treat right from a little place on Islamorada on our way back from fishing trips. But it was close. {smiles} Side portions and desserts are LARGE and we felt the meal was well priced. Pros: The Seafood, The Staff, Ambience, Valet Parking, Baked Alaska, Shrimp & Grits Cons: Really none to offer except a little weakness on the Key Lime Pie more

Oceanaire Restaurant - Full Steam Ahead 9/6/2007

Upon first entering the doors to the Oceanaire Restaurant, I was greeted with a friendly smile. There was no wait for a table as my arrival was closer to the end of the evening though. The decor was clean and simple yet elegant and inviting. Replicating an ocean liner's dining room, there was even a hint of background noise which resembled an engine. Great music from the 30's and 40's were also in the background.\r \r Our waitress was welcoming and very knowledgeable about the menu. I had the Salmon ""Oscar"" dish that was surprisingly filling even though the amount wasn't a lot. A salmon fillet on a bed of asparagus and covered with King Crab legs. Excellent!\r \r The dessert was ""To die for"". I ordered the Creme Bule, which was big enough for my partner and I, and the taste was right on.\r \r I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody that enjoys a slower pace dinner experience to get away for a few hours from the fast paced tourist city. Though the price is a little high, it is something I can deal with for a dinner that makes me know that there is a place where I can sit back and enjoy all aspects of a true dining experience. Pros: Ambiance, Service, Decor Cons: Price more

Very Classy 8/31/2007

Lets start with the vitals. First the average plate here is between $20 and $30 dollars. They have a broad selection of wines so take your time it?s worth it.\r \r As for attire, while they accept casual attire, you?ll probably feel out of place if you go too casual, because the Oceanaire and its staff are setup as a formal dinning experience. The service, is second to none, they are attentive and responsive, but not in an overwhelming manner, they just make sure you?re needs are being met, but give you space to relax and enjoy your dinner.\r \r Portions are large, so bring your appetite. When you order your meal, you are probably going to have leftovers. The sides can be shared since they are really large and can easily be split between two people the Oceanaire encourages this practice.\r \r The appetizers are excellent and are also large portions.\r \r If you?re looking for a place to impress your date, the Oceanaire will do it, but it comes at a price so keep that in mind. For couples and family the Oceanaire caters to both, so don?t be afraid to bring the family. Pros: Great service, presentation and seafood more

Phenomenal dining experience! 8/14/2007

I live in Orlando and try to stay clear of I-Drive. However, I took the risk and found this experience to be truly worth any inconvenience I-Drive may offer. There was a warm greeting at the door, including a handshake and a smile. I was greeted by name at the table and was even offered a black napkin (nice touch!). the food was superb and the service was attentive, engaging and never pretentious. Youcan tell the employees are happy to be there. I told the Managing Partner (Dory) to remember me when they are packed every night. What a great and necessary addition to the area! Pros: Great service, great food, lush decor, fun atmosphere, complimentary valet Cons: Can be loud when busy, I-Drive traffic more
