Horrible Customer Service (Johnathan is the worste server!) 4/3/2011

Please do not expect to get good service from Johnathan if he is your server at this restaurant. He will tell you that you do not want what you ask for and go out of his way to make sure you know he is in control and you, the customer, have no ability to ask for what you want. He is rude and would rather have a whole family leave than to be nice. Also, if you want to get your money's worth for this expensive dinner....go to the Littleton location. I ordered the vegetarian which cost the same as the other meals - he brought me two very small triangles of tofu, three small asparagus stalks, two slices of a mushroom, two very small cuts from an artichoke that came from a jar and two tiny raviolis. Everyone at our table was shocked at the small portion he brought me, especially since the cost was the same as those who received shrimp, chicken, steak, and salmon. I recomment the Littleton location, but if you have to go to Littleton, ask for James as a server and leave if they offer you John or Johnathan. more

AVOID! Worst service in Denver metro area 1/9/2011

We had a reservation but still waited for 2 hours from food to arrive after being seated. The waiter was at first apologetic and explained that they seated his entire section at once even though the dining room wasn't even half full. Then the manager (Samantha) came over to apologize and said they were short a busboy to let her know if there were any more problems. There were - one of the burners were broken and had to be switched out resulting in half our party finishing eating before the other half even started. Drinks were empty and not getting refilled. It actually seemed like the service was getting worse. We asked to speak to Robin again and this time she came over and told us to finish our food and leave !? Apparently she was embarrassed and didn't know how to handle the situation. It was crazy and disappointing as we'd been eating at the Littleton location for years and always had a pleasant experience. more

Horrible Experience 12/17/2009

I have been to The Melting Pot on a dozen or so occasions and this was my fourth trip to the Louisville location. Normally a great place to eat, I consider it a special experience as I rarely can afford to drop $120 on a meal for two. Tonight I had my worst dining experience ever at The Melting Pot in Louisville. We arrived on a Thursday night at 7:00 and were told there would be a wait due to earlier reservations that had priority, which was fine. We took a seat at the bar for what turned out to be 40 minutes as they seated three tables of people that trickled in. After 2 drinks and finally seated, we see that the restaurant is nearly empty and wonder why the hell we just waited for almost an hour. The first course came out fine and the cheese was good. However the server brought our oil and set the temperature, then another server came by and turned it on high; the oil began to turn our food into charcoal. The broccoli literally crumbled and it ruined nearly every piece of meat. Our original server then turned off the heat completely and the oil cooled too much so it started soaking into the food, very nasty. The burner was then turned back on. The server then started to cook our last few pieces of meat (LOBSTER & FILET MIGNON) that we didn't want to ruin on the table behind us in a new pot of oil. At this point I asked for a manager. She informed me that she would be happy to cover our few drinks that we had while we were needlessly waiting at the bar for our table. We miserably sat through the dessert, which was mediocre at best, because the burner could still not regulate the temperature. I can't believe I drove to Louisville and spent $120 for a two and a half hour ""experience""; and on top of that, the manager was not willing to rectify the situation. I enjoyed my drinks... It was the meal I had a problem with! more

Amazing experience! 10/11/2008

My husband and I went here for our 5th anniversary, it was AMAZING! Excellent food, great service (Adam was our waiter I think) Nice atmosphere, a very, very good experience. We ordered the Cheddar cheese fondue (Amazing), the salads with the raspberry vin. (didn't like it, too sweet), I ordered the Vegetarian, and my husband ordered the sirloin and shrimp, with vegetable broth ( VERY good), and for dessert we had Milk Chocolate fondue, flambeed. (AWESOME!!!) Highly recommended to anyone looking to have a fun time...make sure you count on staying for a while, we had all 4 courses and it took about 3 hours. and make reservations!! Pros: Great food, ambience, service, fun! Cons: expensive more

Great experience with terrific food! 12/31/2007

I went here for a bachlorette party for a friend and had a wonderful experience full of ambience and tasty food! I went here again for a new Year's party and found the experience to be as wonderful as before! This restaurant has the best fondue and great service. I would highly recommend it though it is probably better to go to this restaurant for a romanic meal rather than a family dinner. I would suggest making reservations and the meal for two people will likely cost you over $100. more

Awesome Date Restaurant 12/22/2007

I have to say that I was quite surprised to see the reviews written for this restaurant. My husband and I will find any excuse to go here. We have always had great service and the food is excellent. They have a great wine selection. With regard to cooking times, the food does take a bit longer than the wait staff tells you, however, the times they give are general and can vary depending on cooking style. Plan to spend a decent amount of time at this restaurant, as it is more of an experience than a regular restaurant. The wait staff has always been very attentive for us and are great with leaving us be for a while after bringing out our food. I have heard some people complain about this being slow service, however, it is all part of the atmosphere as this is rated as a romantic/date type restaurant. This is not a place I would recommend brining kids. This is very much an adult restaurant. We've come to this restaurant so much, we have developed favorite fondues. We love the ever changing menu. While most of their menu stays the same, they have different themes every few months. They bring in a new cheese, sometimes new meats, and a new chocolate for their theme. While these themes don't stick around long, I think it's what keeps this restaurant very unique. Sometimes with their changing themes there are meats we would prefer not to have and they are great with letting us substitute for any other meat at no extra charge. Our first visit, the manager was going around and looking for first time diners. Out of all the first time diner's, he chose one table in which their meal was at no charge. Our bill would have been $130, but our table was the one chosen. We went their the night we got married and the manager paid for the roses at our table. Great restaurant. Never had problem with cleanliness or service. I would highly recommend this to any couple looking for a romantic spot! Pros: Great food, great service more

Food good, service poor 7/13/2006

The food is really great. The service is not very good. All three times that I have been here the servers left us hanging at the end of the meal. Also, the last time I was there the bathroom was EXTREMELY dirty. Which makes you wonder what the kitchen looks like. Usually the bathrooms have been clean though. Expect to spend at least $100 on two people and expect to be there for around 3 hrs. Pros: Food delicious Cons: Service generally poor more

Food and Service... is just okay! 1/30/2003

I had heard that the Melting Pot was a romantic resturant with just the right atmosphere for what I was looking for. Needless to say... we were disappointed. The food was okay. Not great by any means. The food takes much longer to cook then the wait staff claims (average 5-10 min). Service is eh... to say the least. Plan on spending several hours there. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Food, Service more
