Best

We've been going here for years. The food is always great and the service impeccable. You cannot beat the fish for preparation and freshness.

Worst

I felt the food was of the same quality as Red Lobster, but much more expensive. Pretty typical chain quality. And, the calamari wasn't light and refreshing, but quite heavy and...

Won't be back 10/5/2009

I can't believe how disapointed I was taking a client from our office at end of September. Have been there maybe 3 times in the last 4 years. Poor service by the waiter (Elias?). The manager was giving people a difficult time in regards to the quality of their meals. Two older ladies left their food on the table. I know I won't bring clients back here, Pros: Good Bartender Cons: Poor service & Quaity of fish more

Happy Hour Only! 9/30/2009

Our first anniversary on 9/29 and received a gift certificate. The waiter was Inattentive the busboy was great. Food was good at the bar but the dinners were NOT worth what we paid. Price of beers not on menus-should be. Could not get refills on all you can eat crab legs ($19.99). No waiter after initial plate delivered. Mahi Mahi flavourless, plastic cup of brown liquid on side! What gives??? After waiting and waiting for my wifes refill of crab legs and tired of hearing other guests at other tables complain about how bad the food was we decided to leave. Manager refused to accept the gift certificate unless we paid $29.99 for the one plate of snow crab legs. He said we could use it some other time as it was not good on any specials. Not wanting to spoil our first anniversary, I didn't argue. I would not recommend this place. Be warned of their business dealings. Gift certificates should be as good as money . If not they shouldn't issue them. Will NOT be back ever. The only reason they recvd. one star is the price of appetizers at the bar during happy hour. Pros: Good prices during happy Hour (Bar) Cons: Poor management & Business practices. more

The Fresh Fish Company Is Near Denver's Worst.... 9/7/2009

I had never been here before and I heard how good it was and that it was voted denver's "best", yadda yadda yadda. I figured I would try it. Everything was alright up until the food started coming. My salad out of three somehow didnt have crutons?? And the lettuce tasted cucumber skins, way to bitter. The calamari was no where near the best in denver, pappadeaux i.m.o. is. I ordered the crab legs after seeing the bluehair next to me complain about his lobster. When I get crab legs I typically expect to get the claws, well not here when I mentioned it they gave me some lame excuse that they use them for an appetizer. The legs themselves must have been missing a section or two cause they were TINY!!! As I broke into the first one all the meat was stuck to the shell a.k.a. over cooked. At this point I would have been happier with my Albertson's Market legs. I ended up sending the plate back and telling them thanks for trying but I'm good for now. No attempt was made to offer anything else more

A rude waitress- not a nice dining experience 8/25/2009

We dined there tonight. The food is just okay, but the service is definitely not okay- We had a very rude and abrupt elderly waitress -not okay at all more

Best Seafood in Denver 8/18/2009

The Fresh Fish Company is the best seafood experience I've had here in Denver. Who knew fresh seafood...in DENVER!!! I go often for their 50 cent oysters at happy hour but always love their wide arrange of fresh fish. They have an amazing staff and wonderful management who make you feel like you should be a having a wonderful dinning experience. I enjoy going back time and time again. I always let people who are visiting Denver know that the Fresh Fish Company is a must visit on their vacation dinning experience!- Melissa Pros: Excellent Happy Hour Cons: I wish I could afford to eat out everyday! more

Not what I expected 6/27/2009

My girlfriend and I went to the Fresh Fish company for our anniversary and it was an incredible disappointment. When we arrived, the atmosphere was very unlively even on a Friday night. Unexpected for a restaurant that is always spoken so highly of. Our food was awful. Both fish entrees (Mahi Mahi and Ono) were so overcooked that they lacked any flavor and were incredibly difficult to chew. Not to mention that the overall quality of the fish was anything but "fresh". We alerted the manager and he tried to explain to us that this was just characteristic of the fish. My girlfriend and I frequent fish restaurants on a regular basis, and know what it is supposed to taste like; this was by far the worst. We would have been much more satisfied buying frozen fish fillets at the grocery store. It is safe to say that we will never step foot in this establishment again. Pros: sincere service Cons: poor food quality, unknowledgeable management more

Decent 5/29/2009

The food is ok. Service is just ok. The place is clean. The atmosphere is not typical of a seafood restaurant. I know people who love the place, but I'm not one of them. more

Red Lobster is better 4/2/2009

Got taken here recently (not my idea) because it has never been a favorite. My X and I actually had a part time gig doing mystery "shopping" for the management team many years ago. Didn't like it much then and we were dining for free. Nothing has changed in the last ten years, including the decor which is in serious need of an update. I hate the canned recitation the servers are forced to deliver. Feels too "corporate". Actually, the only thing I've ever like is the calamari and it's still ok but at these prices everything should be flawless. Pros: calamari Cons: everything else more

Would Chose This Over The Meltingpot Any Day!! 2/13/2009

I had a wonderful experience here last night! I had practical, knowledgeable advice when choosing my wine, when my server pointed out a lightly sweet reisling. Very helpful and honest.Helped me avoid disaster while ordering wine. Blueberry lemonade was very tasty. I had the best crab legs that I have ever tasted. Also the Mahi was exactly as it should be, wonderfully grilled and slight smoked taste. Crab stuffed mushrooms, positively addicting! The sauce was just perfect! Pros: Friendly, knowledgable service. Amazing sea food. Cons: A lot of food. more

I had a WONDERFUL experience!! 2/12/2009

We went in for dinner last night to sample the preview 5280 menu that was emailed to us and had a wonderful time! It was a special treat for us to join the email club and get all kinds of various offers, especially this one. It was a great overall variety of items at a truly reasonable price! The waitress was one of the best I have experienced and we got a kick out of her seriousness about her position and her personalized pepper mill!! We will definitely be back! Pros: Wonderful opportuntity to get an overall taste!! Fantastic service!! more

Horrible Service 2/8/2009

Extremely Horrible Service, We tried to celebrate our 28th Wedding Aniversary last night as our waitress did know. My waitress pased us many times all night never asking if we were ok. I had to stick my arm out and ask for more drinks waving down our waitress. The fish portions were very small but tasty! The food was good but I do not recommend this place for a special occasion, I get better service at Denny's. Pros: Large fish selection Cons: Very small portion, Horrible service more

Fresh Fish Company 1/21/2009

I really enjoy their ceasar salad and pasta with shrimp. The atmosphere is pretty good, and I love all of the aquariums they have everywhere. A bit pricy but they have the best seafood in Denver. more

fishy 1/19/2009

This is a very nice place. Neatly placed by the dollar theater and the proof night club. The fish is great! so is the crab! The buffet is also very enjoyable. more

We visit often 12/12/2008

This is one of the best restaurants we like to frequent. The calamari is the best around Colorado and our service was great as usual. We were in for the lobster email special, my lobster was great and my wife's surf and turf was tasty and well cooked. Pros: Selection, service and surprisingly price Cons: Some seating not comfortable more

Absolutely horrible! 11/19/2008

I have been looking forward to going to the Fresh Fish company and after our meal I wish we had never gone! From the moment when we walked in the door and greeted by a very snobby hostess I knew it wasn't going to be what I expected. The dining area looked like an old casino buffet restaurant with tacky wall art and lights. Our server bosted about the fish special and pasta in which my boyfriend and I took his advice and ordered. Along with our meal I wanted to try "Denver's best" calamari for an appetizer. DEFINITELY not Denver's best!!! Sure it looked pretty but it lacked in any flavor in which they try to make up with their dipping sauce. The clam chowder was nothing special, very bland as well. Our main entree was even worse. I had a pasta with king crab and shrimp with a spicy tomato sauce. The shrimp were VERY small and I have never had crab that tasted so fishy. It was shredded in the pasta and almost tasted like tuna instead of crab. VERY dissapointing. My boyfriend's fish platter with 3 different types of fish was the same, very bland and had to be doused with lemon to remotely enjoy it. For a $70 meal it definitely wasn't worth it!!! Pros: Bussers were good about clearing plates. Cons: Bad food, snobby waitstaff, very fishy smelling restaurant more

great seafood 10/2/2008

I highly recommend fresh fish company. They have the best seafood around and it is truly a wonderful dining experience all around. Tell your friends to go!! Pros: great food Cons: none more

Avoid at all costs! 8/17/2008

Worst dining experience ever. These folks have fallen far. We have enthusiatically visited the Fresh Fish Company for many years, but last night's meal was a dismal experience and I doubt we will ever return. Among the litany of occurences -the seat of the booth was wet when we sat down -numerous waitstaff passed by our table as the empty dishes piled up -the promised fresh pepper for our salad never materialized and we had to grab a busboy -a request for water was never fulfilled - an ordered side dish was never delivered -presentation of the dishes was abominable, not even a sprig of parsley to liven up the plate -when our waitperson did surface, it was only because she was rushing somewhere else and seemed not to care about our responses There certainly seemed to be plenty of staff running around, yet the place was unusually sparse for a Saturday evening. The food was adequate, although my tuna was overdone. There are simply too many other similarly-priced restaurants around to waste time and money on what was once an exceptional place to dine. My condolences. more

purple/grey shrimp 6/19/2008

I had dinner last night at the Fresh Fish Company for my birthday, as I do almost every year. I ordered the coconut shrimp. When they came out, they were this purple grey color. It looked awful. The breading and the shrimp were this color. I asked the waitress and she agreed that they did not look right. She put in a new order. The second time, a manager brought them to me. He put the plate down and asked in an extremely rude way "Do these look better to you"? Well no, actually they didnt. They were still grey/purple, and now i was angry that the manager was acting as if I was being too picky. Sorry I don't prefer grey shrimp! By this time everyone else has finished eating, I am now eating the sides dishes, by myslef. When the waitress came back over I asked her if she could just send someone over who knew why the shrimp were purple. The same rude manager came over and went into this explanation that there is some sort of "deoxidation" process that happens and they don't know it has until after the shrimp are cooked???????? So they bought us dessert, and I got my birthday discount, but I will never return to this restaurant. I mean GREY SHRIMP? Seriously? more

Excellent brunch, great customer service 5/25/2008

Wanted to take my Grandparents out because both of their birthdays were last week. They suggested the Red Lobster, I wanted something different. Had never been to the Fresh Fish Company but had heard a lot of good things about it. I called and made reservations the night before for brunch. We got there and they asked if we knew about their birthday club. I said no. They handed us forms to fill out for my Grandparents. Discount being 1% for every birthday year. My Grandfather had turned 91 and my Grandmother 85. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they honored the discount - there were four of us and we basically ate at half price. We didn't wait a single minute to get seated. The food was great for Denver (not what you'd find on the East or West coast but terrific considering other options in Denver), prices were reasonable I felt for the quantity of food, the selection was great, and the wait staff was very courteous and friendly. On our way out, my Grandfather liked it so much he made reservations for us for Father's Day. I would recommend this place to anyone and I'll be returning for sure. Pros: Great value for what your getting Cons: The place fills up quick more
