Tantra was a joke. Service was slower than slow (a least 10-15 minutes after we were seated the server came by our table and it was a SLOW night) . Everything is overpriced. The worst dining experience I have ever had! 3/21/2006

I don't have a single positive thing to say about this restaurant. I had a reservation and had to wait an hour to be seated. Our waiter only bothered to come to our table to take our order and stand over my friend as she signed the credit card bill! Failed actors or not, the wait staff is extremely rude and not at all familier with the concept of a service-oriented industry. The food was over-priced and not very good. I wasn't prepared to pay $69 for risotto! Apparently it takes a miracle to get a glass of water...because you won't be asked if you would like one! I could get a better meal at taco bell! The first time I went to Tantra was on tuesday night. It was quite, sultry, exotic and TASTY. Perfect for a first date. The next time was on a saturday eveningagain with my boyfriend. we sat at 9:30pm. It was much busier, however our dining experience was perfect. Around 11pm the music picked, lights dimmed and the dancing began. I have gone many times since. I love the place. WORDS TO THE WISE: if you want a quite dinner (sit before 8:30) ORon a night that does not have a party. PartyNights: are the GODDESS party on MONDAY, ENJOY friday and LUST saturday. Other days are relaxed, more for the couples less for the singles. Tell the reservationist what you expect and they will recommend when you should come.LARGE GROUPS Iprepared a bachelorette-party FOR 30women, they can accomodate large parties. Great Food but the place is a dump 9/11/2005

The food was great however the fit and finish of the restaurant is below expectations. A $250 meal with a waiter's butt in your face is below what I expect in any restaurant. Great decor, very happening scene, beautiful helpful staff. The aphrodisiac menu is one of a kind. Not inexpensive but portions are large. After dinner we did not want to leave so we danced for hours and ended up in the VIP hammock sipping cognac until they closed. The wine list was extensive and our waiter really nice - but I was flabbergasted at the $48 pork chop. They also heavily pushed the $32 appetizer. I live in NYC and I will pay for a great meal, BUT even I think $80 before you even add in drinks is down right ludicrious. Tantra is at the top of the list for A-list celebrity sightings in Miami and the food and uniqueness make it a Miami must-do. They are known for Aphrodisiac cuisine, a live grass floor, awesome martinis, beautiful people and the biggest party in Miami on Monday nights. Don't go to Miami without checking this one out. Great scene, so-so food 5/8/2005

I don't mind the prices because the atmosphere is great, but the food here is just not all that good. The salmon was dry and overcooked, the lobster was also overcooked and the risotto stuff that came with the lobster had a taste that was just too wierd. The foie gras starter was nice, and the bread and sundried tomatoes went great with the drinks. All that said, I would still reccommend at least one visit to this place as it is the coolest designed restaurant I've ever been too. When you walk in you will see it is a nice restaurant, trendy crowd, when you sit at your table and open the menu....that's when the shock sets in. I could not believe these prices, way over priced. I've had great food on Ocean Drive for a fraction of the cost. If your on a limited budget this is not the place for you. My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here while on vacation. We live in L.A. We wish there was a restaurant like Tantra at home. Tantra was the most exciting and romantic time we have had since our honeymoon! Attentive service, beautiful and friendly staff, the food was absolutely over the top! Fresh lobster, Organic meats, succulent seafood, my wife's Sea Bass was like butter, I could cut my New Zealand Grass-grazed Filet Mignon with a fork! Tantr: worst restaurant in South Beach 5/19/2004

I paid over $1,600+ for dinner for 5 people. When we asked the waiter for additional food to go for a friend at home, he replied, ""There is someone waiting for your table and I can not serve you anything else..."" Visiting Miami, I took a couple people I met there for a great night at Tantra. I live in L.A. and Im used to the loud, having to shout over the music to hear the person next to you kind of atmosphere. Thats exactly what I was looking for and what it was. Very good food. The service was great once it was obvious I was spending money. Good but overpriced wine list. And over $50 corkage fee is absurd. But overall, a great night out. Tantralizing Hype 11/17/2003

Tantra claims to be a restaurant with exotic Middle Eastern decor, sensual music and serving aphrodisiac cuisine; focusing on maximizing all of the five senses sound, sight, smell, touch and of course taste. Although it does try, it doesnt quite live up to the hype. Although the music was good, the decor funky, I wouldnt classify the cuisine to be more aphrodisiac compared to most places. Instead what you will find is with the theme comes a very nice price tag. Seared tuna will run you about $40 and a steak at least $60. Also, our dinner experience was maximized by the sight and sound of the squeaking bathroom door which opens every so often allowing diners in the intimate room a bright view right into the stalls. The beauty of this restuarant is the unique atmoshere, however there in one aspect that is typically South Beach, BAD SERVICE!!!!!!!! However there is something we can do about this, we have the power to tip or not to tip. Although tips are almost always included on the bill, you have the right and a duty to modify as you see fit. The restuarant is way too expensive to for the bad service. If you want to send a message, don't send a tip. To be honest I feel guilty, if and when I have to do this, but then again, I work too damn hard for my money to give it away. Pros: atmosphere, food Cons: service, value, attitude more

Yeah grass on the floor as you walk in, when you can walk in. Door attitude can be a serious problem. Staff are model wannabes or washed up actors. Really bad. Music is WAY too loud for a conversation across the table. While food is good (not great but good) it is expensive. If you're going to do this place come Monday nights just for drinks and take in the atmosphere. Shame on CitySearch for giving Tantra such high marks on food though. I flew in from out of town with the most beautiful woman in the world, who I knew I was unworthy of. I took her to Tantra and the atmosphere melted her. We sat in an unusual place...I can only describe it as a cross between a bed and a fireplace. It was dark, warm, romantic, and beautiful with suggestive art all around us. Both of us thought it was the best we ever had. The service was there whenever we wanted it, and was gone whenever we wanted to be alone. The best aphrodisiacs were the music, the dark and the martinis. We arrived at 8pm for dinner and it was NOTHING compared to how alive it became around 11pm. It really is the most romantic evening I've ever known. If you're in my situation and she's beyond you, bring her here and you may have a chance.
