Tantra has an awesome vibe from the moment you walk in. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere, great music, great dancing, great eye-candy and much much more. Try the flavored tobacco in the hooka pipes, try the aphrodisiac shots. Romantic & sexy all the way! Amazing Creme' Brulee! GO AND CHECK IT OUT! It's pricey, but if you can't afford it, you shouldn't be in SoBe! I always recommend this place to friends from out of town, they always thank me after they've gone. It's a great place to go w/ a large group of tight-knit friends, you'll have a blast, keep the drinks comin' all night! Just as good of a night, if not better if your going with your honey. not worth the price! 10/1/2002

The service is marginal at best, the food was very disappointing, arrived over an hour after we ordered it, and came to our table luke-warm. The decor was nice, the music ok, but the prices were too outrageous for what you received. I bet this place doesn't get too many repeat customers. I know I'll never go back. Personally, I think the Outback serves a better tasting steak, at a fraction of the cost! Don't waste your time or your money on this place. The food could be excellent if brought to the table timely and HOT. The worst (OK, not the worst because the servers were nice, just incompetent) service for the expense. ENTICING BUT NOT WORTH THE $$$$$$ 8/23/2002

Food was very good, and the atmosphere fun. The decor is fantastic, and was the best part of the whole experience. The wine list was also detailed and extensive. The sommelier was nonexistent maybe next time. However, for all the great music, drinks, red plush velvet curtains, and amazing dessert, it is NOT WORTH $400.00 FOR THREE PEOPLE!!!!! I can name a dozen restaurants in New York City, with better fish, excellent service, and beautiful atmosphere, with much better prices than this. tantra is the ultimate southbeach scene. the music is always top notch, the drinks incredible, and the place is always filled with beautiful people. Make sure to smoke out of the hooka, its all part of the fun! By far the best place for a cosmo on the beach...but if you're looking for a good place to take a first date, try China Grill...it's a lot quieter. Pros: crowded, trendy, good music more

Prehaps all the hype surrounding this place made it seem like it would be something amazing and astounding, it was not. Overpriced, too loud and what is with the grass floor?! Looks better than it tastes... 7/16/2002

I took my sister w/friends for a birthday dinner. Atmosphere is a 10 - grass floor in the entrance, sexy lighting, nets on the corner tables and music that was flawless. When the party turned on later, the place transformed into quite the scene. Dinner service was professional and thorough and we didnt feel rushed in the least; the complimentary balloon bouquet for the birthday girl was a nice touch. The only disappointment was the food and how much it cost (most expensive meal I paid for in SoBe to-date). The entrees were very good, but I suppose I set my expectations with the price and frankly, I've had much better meals for less. Otherwise, the presentation was as good as I expected it to be; wine list was equally well done. All in all, Id recommend going at least once - the ambience is worth it alone. Exotic and tantalizing 7/14/2002

We had a really fun time. The atmosphere was the coolest thing about the restaurant. The food was definitely above average. The single disappointing thing was the policy: ""Each person must order their own entree/appetizer."" I was with a bunch of women and we were ready for a night out after eating very well throughout the day. It was rather rude to be told that we were not allowed to share. I think it was presumptious to presume that people who may share their entrees may be cheap. We ordered enough alcohol to warrant several entrees over! more

As Good as the first time 7/11/2002

Second time at Tantra. As good if not better than the first time. This time we went knowing when to go. The first time our waitress gave us all the info about when to go, according to what we were looking for. It was Tuesday night. We did not want to be rushed. It was perfect. Fortunately, the same waitress was working. She remembered us! Imagine that. Out of the people that go there! Again went with the recommendations and were impressed. We even got free champagne out of the deal. Yellow label! Thank you J-Lo. Keep up the good job. Tantra is for sure an institution on South Beach. Tantra's is really too good for description. It has to be experienced. Your dining experience actually begins when you walk thru the door. The Ambience and aroma set the mood for your perfect dining experience. Sit Back, relax and enjoy a Cocktail while you peruse the menu. Any selection you make will be exceptional both in Taste and Presentation. The Service is as Professional and excellent as the Food. Tantra is Very Expensive, and worth every Penny. Wear a red dress 7/1/2002

Tantra lives up to the expectation it sets, and keep that in mind. My guess is that you were interested because its hot, its happenen and it is (and you pay the price in money, crowd and press). The food is prepared very, very well (at least early in the evening). The service is good. But time of night has a big influence. 11pm is the (s)witching hour. Earlier and this is a very upscale, yet sensual restaurant that treats you well, but is very expensive. Later it is plain an simple party time and you will not (cannot) get the same type of treatment. So choose and go to fit. Crowd is mostly young, but 35-40s OK. It is sensual. An S&M Dining Experience 6/21/2002

Four times. That's right! Four times, they tried to clear our plates while still clearly eating and while we talked with our waiter. He even looked embarrassed. Make sure you DO NOT ORDER MAIN COURSES UNTIL YOU ARE DONE WITH YOUR APPS. The only way to garantee a reasonable amount of time between courses. Service was overly aggressive and inappropriate. Taking plates away, taking half drunk drinks away at $15 a pop made this trip to a waste of time and money. Highlights: The shared platter appetizer WAS fresh, unique and tasty but the main courses were far less interesting, flavorful or well prepared. Filet Mignon was overcooked and aligned with a miserable assortment of boring root vegetables. My wife's fish was bland, plain and simple. Not nearly worth booking a reservation 3 weeks in advance. I'll stay with Marks on Las Olas in FT.LA. anyday. Pros: Appetizer Cons: Everything, Else more

This place has mystic, charm, One of a kind. Will return again and again. The lobster napoleon is exquiste. Wine list recently won the highest award from Wine Spectator according to our server. Music was better than most clubs, We danced and mingled all night. Everyone was freindly not snobby!
