I woke up this morning…starving, as usual! And I am a ticking time bomb when once I’m up. Anyone and everyone knows that there is about a one hour ...

WoW... everytime I go to a mexican restaurant is the same menu... totillas, quesadillas, etc.... but now it was different....is the first time I enjoy a real mexican food..... Talavera changed my mind.... Now I know that the mexican food is not only tortillas..... Everyting there was excellent... the price, the food, the service, the place.... I'll be there again, for sure.... more

We've visited Talavera on many occasions and the food and service have been consistently good every time. It's moderately priced for the quality, the neighborhood and when compared to other fine Mexican restaurants. more

Went on a friend's recommendation and was pleasantly surprised with a true taste of Mexico. Good service as well. more

We went for the second time tonight. The first time we were not impressed but since the place stayed in business we assumed that it was probably improved. We were very wrong. The food is awful and far from being authentic Mexican food, extremely salty . Service is practically nonexistent. We will never come back! more

I had to write this review when someone said the guacamole tasted like lard and was pureed really fine. I've eaten many times at this restaurant and ordered the guacamole many times. It's delicious. The main ingredients are avocado and lime with some spices. Served with pork cracklings and little tortillas it's fantastic. The huerache that they are known for is also delicious. I've tried several of them and like the pork ones the best. They also have fantastic margaritas and enough vegetarian entrees to satisfy any vegetarian friends. The ingredients always seem fresh, the service is generally excellent, and the price is good for the quality that you are getting. I highly recommend this restaurant. Also, they have a great weekend brunch. more

This place definitely gets a 5 star review from me. But, don't come here expecting to order a burrito or a chimichanga, go to Taco Bell for that. This is true authentic, high-end Mexican cuisine! Just like you would eat in Mexico City. If you are experienced in TRUE Mexican food, this is your ONLY option in South Florida. more

Nice decor & ambience , sound level is a tad loud. Get an outside table if possible. Guacamole was good, served in a nice talavera bowl. I LOVE cevicbe but it was way TOO SALTY! I had the fish ceviche & every bite was extremely salty, I could feel a rush to my head from sodium overload! Don't know if it was an accident, can't imagine the chef making it that salty. Hubbie had a mixed seafood ceviche au natural, his was much bettet & lighter. The scalops tasted fishy and old but the rest of the seafood was good. He tried mine & agreed on the high amount of salt. After 4 spoonfuls i had to stop eating it, i already drank the entire bottle of water they gave us plus a raspberry margarita which was good. I am a mexican from California so I guess I should have been eating cuban food instead & leave the mexican food for the west coast instead ! more

Great Service, Friendly Staff Growing up in a Mexican home with Mexican parents and grandparents, I feel qualified to review Mexican cuisine, as my parents, aunts and uncles, were from south of the border. The food is great! Let me say that. I had tacos, and I have no complaints about the food quality or the service. Both were top notch. The only thing that I found out of place were the side dishes: white rice and black beans. Those side dishes are Cuban, not Mwxican. Mexican cuisine dictates only pinto beans and Mexican rice, which is rice sauteed in tomato paste then simmered. Other than that glaring error in autenthicity, great place. And if you like black beans and white rice, you'll love Talavera. more

This is my first time at Talavera and I couldn't be more pleased with the food, service and prices. The Queso fundido is to die for, it remainded me of the ones I used to have in Dallas at the Monctezuma retaurant; Camarones al ajillo and the special, pork chops, were very well executed; juicy chops and flawless sauce. Our server, Jose, was professional but friendly and described the dishes with knowledge and gusto. We had a wonderful experience and 'll be back for sure. more

I did not enjoy my meal at Talavera at all! It is amazing how one little ingredient can ruin a whole meal. I ordered the Tacos de Chilorio. The tortillas were fantastic, the pulled pork had good flavor, but it was way too salty, the beans and rice were neither good nor bad, the vegetables that came with my tacos were to salty to be eaten. Even the chips (as rjc mentioned below) were too salty.\r \r I will not be going back despite the professional wait staff and the quality ambience offered by this salty restaurant. more

The newly open restaurant TAlavera in Coral Gables is incredible, the food is scrumpcious but the best is the incredible services you feel you are in a five star hotel! We live in the gables and we have great choices of restaurant but Talavera has became our favorite for pleasure or when we are doing buisness! more

This was one of the best meals and dining experiences that I've had in a while! The service was outstanding from the bartenders to the wait staff. You really got the feeling that they were all passionate and excited about the place. We had several different margaritas and they were all amazing although my favorite was the cilantro (the bartender told me he has been making it for over ten years and is going to start marketing it as a lemonade first and then through Bacardi)...it was outstanding. The gaucamole was some of the best I've ever had and the homemade salsas were perfect. We had a strip steak from the grill section and the dinner special which was a chorizo stuffed pepper...the sauces here are so flavorful and really different. I can't wait to go back to try something new! It has been added to my list of favorite restaurants in Miami. more

A Coral Gables storm knocked out the entire block of power. No worries, the staff accommodated many guests left in the dark and no A/C. The reaction to the natural disaster was impressive. My fish in parchment was cooked to perfection. My husbands entree was just as delicious. I loved the guacamole and the innovative way it was served. The margarita drinks were sensational and the staff could not be more gracious. When something unexpected happens, a restaurant that steps up to the "plate," is one that will survive! more

In one word: disappointing.\r Its Gucamole with cheese and fried pork skin was terrible. It was like buying one at the local grocery store, mix it with cheese and open a bag of "chicharrones". Not at a restaurant level.\r The cheese with chorizo was decent, but it did not involved any special expertise or skill. Just put the ingredients together, put them inside the oven, and... voila!\r The Ceviche was fresh but, that was all. Nothing out of the ordinary.\r Service was good, but I am not motivated to come back to this place. It is not a big deal! more
