Hi: I'm not sure if this feedback is for Stone Hearth Pizza or actually for Grub Hub. I have ordered several times now from Grub Hub and despite including instructions to the delivery person about how to find my apartment (up driveway, up stairs in back of house to third floor), the delivery person never seems to see (or heed) these instructions. As a result, each time the person ends up pounding on the door of the main house and then calling me in frustration because I am not answering the door. This time, this same exact thing happened and - not sure if it is a result of this, because it was a cold night, or perhaps other reasons - the pizza was cold when we got it. Note that the pizza was good, just cold. Not sure where the problem is? Thanks though, Fran more

A new local love 5/26/2010

Just got back from Stone Hearth and had such a great time! It is the perfect place for a couple or group to enjoy a delicious meal. I have to say that walking by, the restaurant is pretty unassuming, located on Mass Ave in Cambridge, it blends in with the restaurants on the block, but it is truly a unique place. The owner's dedication to local ingredients/farming is so admirable and the numerous gluten-free options for those with Celiac's or health restrictions (including gluten-free pizza!) makes this an absolutely unique and special restaurant. \r \r The deliciousness ranges from spicy banana pepper and homemade meatball pizza to a veggie veggie delight of ""farm fresh"" including tomatoes, peppers, artichoke hearts, arugula, onion, and prosciutto. Also of note are the local microbrews. I highly recommend ""Pretty Things"" or Allegash white ale for the beer, the arugula and portobello salad, and simple classic pizza.\r \r I look forward to the chance to go again soon! Pros: Delicious food, great for those with dietary restrictions Cons: So many choices to pick from! :-) more

A better way to eat pizza and drink beer 5/23/2010

Come hungry and with friends (especially the ones who've got ish with gluten) so you can try at least two kinds of pies. I was here yesterday with a group of five, and we ordered three pizzas: Margherita (gluten-free), Farm Fresh, and good old fashioned mushroom. There was nothing left to take home at the end of our meal. This pizza is GOOD. The crust is thin, the cheese is just the right amount, and the veggies are crisp. The Farm Fresh (which I strongly recommend you order) was piled on with an assortment of veggies that, put together, made for a surge of incredible flavor that will have you wondering what chemicals you need in order to start growing veggies this tasty. But here's the thing: these bad boys are organic. All the ingredients at Stone Hearth are organic, and, when they can get it, locally grown and produced. To supplement an awesome food menu, they've also got a decent selection of beer, including the locally brewed Pretty Things in 22 oz. bottles. A friend and I split PT's spring seasonal brew, Fluffy White Rabbits, a hoppy tripel with a kick of citrusy goodness. I definitely recommend a bottle of this to go with your pizza. So you've got your check list: Come hungry, come with friends, order the Farm Fresh, devour it, and wash it down with Fluffy White Rabbits. Then, commence food and beer coma. Pros: Fresh veggies, thin crust, knowledgeable staff Cons: Space is a bit small for parties larger than six more

Good pizza, awesome local sourcing 3/3/2010

Came here last night with a group of four. Ordered the seasonal salad, which was celery root and pear. It was delicious: romaine with sliced pear and shredded celery root in a mustardy mayonnaise-y dressing with toasted walnuts. We also got The Bean and the Farm Fresh on whole wheat crusts. Both were excellent topping combinations, but the The Bean was quite exceptional with a white bean spread topped with spinach and pesto. The crust was a tad cracker-like, which is unsurprising when working with whole wheat dough. But it was still very tasty. Skip dessert, we got the brownie sundae and it was pretty disappointing. Very dry brownie that they didn't bother to heat up, and strangely icey ""gelato."" Other than that slip up, I really enjoyed this place. Service was also super friendly and efficient. Oh, and the fact that they source a lot of stuff locally gets them way extra points in my book. Pros: Fabulous topping combinations, good salads Cons: Crust could be improved a tad more

Terrific GF pizzas with great, fresh tasty combinations. more

Not great value for money. Extras for $1.80 each were extremely small portions. And if anyone can tell the difference between the regular cheese pizza and the supposedly '4 cheese' pizza, they have a more discerning palate than I do. Pizzas were 'okay' but $25 for 2 x 12" cheese pizzas is pretty poor. more
