Elegant ambience, excellent service and food 10/21/2010

I always refer my friends looking for an upscale restuarant in the Heights. I love the snapper! You guys are awesome and I just experienced the brunch here and although the portions are a bit small, the quality of the food and overall experience was just what I needed last Sunday after a long week. Will definately be back. more

Lived up to the hype! 7/10/2010

We finally made it to Stella Sola after hearing rave reviews from friends and family. We made a 9pm reservation, and arrived slightly late at 9:15pm and the place was humming. They moved us to the bar, where we were greeted by a warm and friendly bartender that poured us two glasses of house Pinot that was reasonably priced and very good. After a short 5 minute break we were seated at our table in the middle of the restaurant. The waiter was friendly and engaging, so much so we asked him to bring out his favorite appetizer and surprise us with his favorite main course. We had never done this blind order thing before, so it added some suspense to the evening. The appetizer that he chose was a meat plate with country ham (salty) and finally cut cured ham. Very, very good. The main course was steak strips in an interesting sauce of beans, mint, and something else. It was very good. The beef was slightly tough, but the flavor was exceptional. The only down side the place was that it was noisy. Not as bad as El Patio's acoustics, but bad enough to make it hard to hear someone sitting directly across the table from you. Over all experience was a good one, and the atmosphere was also excellent. Pros: Food and service Cons: Poor indoor acoustics more

Food was great, noise level was not 2/20/2010

My wife and I had reservations for 8:00 on a Friday night. When we got there we were sat right away which was great. Unfortunately we were sat in between the front door and the bar which proved to be a problem. The door was drafty and the bar got cramped for space as the night went on. On the opposite side of the dining room the noise was at a much more manageable level. We ordered appetizers the mussels and shrimp. They were both delicious but my heart belongs to the shrimp. My wife ordered the pork rib which was nice but not a cut of meat she was used to. I ordered the grouper and it was the best piece of fish I've had in some time, perfectly seared yet flaky. Pros: Food was amazing! Cons: The noise level was out of control more

Too expensive for what you get 1/23/2010

Stella Sola was a big disappointment. We went there last night, and had to pay for a valet because they wouldn't let us use their huge empty parking lot. The restaurant was pretty loud, so it was hard to hear what the person across from me was saying (not very romantic!). The entrees tasted good, but my fish was the size of the palm of my hand, and yet it was served in a giant bowl--why? I didn't want to eat ice cream, but for some reason almost every dessert contained ice cream. A little more variety would have been nice. For the price, I think I'll stick with Glass Wall, which is right next door. Pros: Good location in The Heights Cons: Valet only, loud, small portions more

Fabulous food! 12/14/2009

My husband and I had dinner here last weekend for the second time. The first time we dined was during mock service, and the menu is 100% improved since then. The red and green grape salad is the perfect start for a meal - something light and flavorful. The bucatini with crab meat is sure to become one of the favorites, it is a welcome spin to the traditional carbonara. My pork loin was prepared perfectly, and dessert was phenomenal (Caramel Turtle Affogato). The atmosphere is also nice and cozy. We will return many times! Pros: Diversity of menu Cons: Valet parking more
