I gotta say, these cupcakes are not special! at $3 and up, they are ALL about the hype. They're good, sure, but so are the red velvet cupcakes from Ralph's. Not worth a long line ...

Great to give to clients or bring to the office 5/24/2007

Sprinkles cupcakes are perfect treats to give to clients or bring to the office. Clients are always happy to get them. Each cupcake is fun and has a delicious flavor. It is much better than donuts. Once in a while, I also recommend getting a dozen babyblonde waffles. more

I've found Cupcake Heaven at Mrs. Beasley's 5/18/2007

My husband and I had heard about Sprinkles and figured it was worth checking out when we visited LA last week and saw the line outside. Turns out everyone else in line was a tourist too and heard the hype. The cupcakes were ok but nothing to wait in line for. A lady in line told me about Mrs. Beasley's also in Beverly Hills. OMG!! They have these gourmet cupcakes and say ""it's all about the frosting."" I say it's all about loving cupcakes!! They had many more flavors, three inches of frosting and a fabulous mini cupcake they call a Popper. Wow!!. And no line! They also said I could order online have them shipped to me. I'm in sugar heaven!! more

Good Reputation does not equal good cupcakes 5/8/2007

We had a really great cupcake shop where we used to live. I had heard rave reviews of Sprinkles so I was excited. The price was high but close to what I'd expected. This isn't a low rent district after all and these are a specialty item. What disappointed me was the taste. We bought a big box with assorted flavors for a dinner party. Not one adult there liked them and none of the children even finish a half of one. My daughter said she likes the ""grocery store kind better."" Good for me. I can buy 6 of those for what 1 costs at Sprinkles. I do not consider her as having an expert palate; however, as I said the adults didn't like them either. Many of us ladies cut them up in quarters and shared so as to try different flavors and there wasn't one that was good. I have heard the red velvet is to die for and they were out of those but the rest they could keep. I was so happy to have another cupcake shop nearby but I won't go back. What's worse is the place is like the Seinfeld episode with the soup ""place"" (Citysearch won't let me use the word that really belongs there). It's almost laughable. Best part of the experience for my husband was seeing Charlize Theron in the parking lot behind Sprinkles. Pros: Celebrity Sightings Possible Cons: Bad Cupcakes (so why go?) more

What is all the hype for? 4/17/2007

I keep hearing about Sprinkles Cupcakes and I can't seem to figure out why. Besides being EXTREMELY expensive, the cupcake's frosting was not creamy and the cupcake itself was not moist. There are MANY other cupcake places serve better cupcakes in L.A. Don't waste your time or your $$$ Cons: Price/Cupcake more

Puh-lease! 4/14/2007

Like so many others, I had heard all of the rave reviews about Sprinkles and had to check it out. After waiting in line for 20 minutes and making sure I stayed outside of the door until the workers behind the counter found me worthy enough to enter; I must say the sweet smell of the store gave me hope. But, I found myself quickly disappointed. The cake, which for me is the best part, was dry, dry, dry, dry. It seemed all of the attention was put upon the thick frosting, which I had to scrape off in order to even attempt to enjoy this establishments medicore product. Who is their publicist? Trust me, without all of the hype, this place would not have the long lines outside the door. Instead, stay home, save the $3.25/crapcake. more

Below expectations 3/31/2007

I walked in on a Saturday after hearing rave reviews about this place. I wasn't even shocked by the sticker price of 6 cakes - $20, so approximately $3.50 for a cupcake. Hey, they have to pay the rent right? The cakes were too sweet, the cake was slightly dry and the frosting rather tasteless. Given the price, it wasn't really all that great. I think its a hip shop, and the cakes are aesthetically pleasing, but a better cupcake is to be found at Buttercup on Pico. \r \r Too bad, I was really looking forward to finding the perfect cupcake. Pros: Pretty cupcakes Cons: Tasteless, dry cupcakes for $3.50 a piece. more

disappointed 3/28/2007

I work nearby and used to visit Sprinkles at least once a week. The quality of food and service has really slipped and now I buy baked goods elsewhere. My most recent (and final) visit: \r \r I waited in line for 20 minutes to receive unfriendly service once inside. Served a cold, acidic cup of coffee after discovering that they were out of milk. Three of my four cupcakes were overcooked and extremely dry. \r \r Either the owners have sold the business or national growth plans are taking their toll. Pros: nice design Cons: poor execution more

Nothing beats sprinkles! 3/27/2007

i just dont understand where these nay sayers came from. if you dont like cupcakes you shoudlnt be eating them. if you like cupcakes you WILL love sprinkles. they are the best. not to mention totally adorable! they are not cheap. they are so sweet. they are decadent. i reccomend sharing them because one is too much! get the red velvet ones! or the pumpkin ones when they have them. to the person who commented saying they taste like theyre from a mix... please tell me which one tastes that good hahaha. im serious, you would have to not like cupcakes to not like sprinkles cupcakes. they are so cute and tasty. my friend and i threw a surprise party where we had sprinkles cupcakes instead of a cake. its a great idea and cool alternative to a cake (or substitute a few cupcakes instead of a small personal cake for a co-worker). also sprinkles sells a funny little tiered stand to set them out on so that theyre in the shape of a tiered cake. so cute. they were a HUGE success! so fun so yum! Pros: best little red velvet cupcakes more

So over-rated. 3/24/2007

I've heard so many raves (including Oprah's) about Sprinkles I decided I had to finally check it out. I have to admit I was a little disappointed. These cupcakes aren't great by any means. The Red Velvet was basically tasteless. The vanilla wasn't much better than that. These cupcakes are way overpriced for what you end up getting. I'd rather buy a dozen at the grocery store. This place is lucky for all the buzz that has helped make this one of the most overrated places in L.A. If you want a truly delicious Red Velvet cupcake, drive a few miles over to Sweet Lady Jane, theirs in the best in town. more

overpriced and over rated 3/10/2007

If there is one thing everyone knows or talks about in LA it's sprinkles cupcakes. Each cupcake costs $3.25. I thought after hearing all the raves and seeing the cost that these had to be good. They were only average. While the variety is impressive, the icing is often way too hard, the cake part often dry and overall they taste stale. I have tried multiple flavors and specialties at different times over the past year and still have yet to be wowed. I even went first thing in the morning to get some for an office party, per my coworkers request, thinking the fresh baked ones would taste better and I found no difference. In fact my coworkers suggestedthe next time we plan on buying cupcakes I go to another local bakery where we have found amazing cupcakes. In my opinion these are overpriced and over rated for cupcakes that are only so-so. There are plenty of other bakeries in town that serve cupcakes that are much tastier and worth the $3.25. Unless you are having an emergency and need a cupcake and a sprinkles cupcake is all you can get, I wouldn't recommend it . Pros: nice variety Cons: value, often taste stale more

overpriced but pretty 3/7/2007

WHen I went to Sprinkles, I had high expectations because of all hype. The store was adorable, though I'm not sure why someone would want to buy their dog a cupcake. I ordered a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting, and it tasted pretty mediocre because it didn't taste like it was straight from the oven. My friend got a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting, which tasted better simply because it was actually soft and warm. I'd rather make them at home for a whole lot cheaper. more

I can't stop thinking about it!!! 2/11/2007

I recently moved to LA and have heard some hype about Sprinkles. I must say that I am a cupcake connoisseur- I have been to many cupcake shops and tried a variey of cupcakes. Sprinkles is the absolute best, hands down. Yes, the cupcakes are spendy, but worth every penny. The girl working the register even remembered me when I came back one week later for more. I recently went on a Saturday afternoon and the line went down the block...it went quick and was most definitely worth the wait. RED VELVET is my favorite flavor. I can't stop thinking about those cupcakes! Pros: flavors, service, amazing taste Cons: parking more

Heavenly cupcakes! 1/24/2007

Sprinkles cupcakes are amazing and the flavor selection is unbeatable. The cupcakes are not too dense or big, and the sweet frosting is balanced by the lightness of the cake. Even friends of mine who are not into sweets think they are amazing. Each flavor is better than the next: my favorites are pumpkin, carrot, and vanilla, and they are all cutely decorated. However, they are definitely overpriced ... but you would probably pay almost the same amount at Starbucks for a pastry half as good. They are great gifts to bring places in lieu of flowers. Parking in this area is a huge headache. Pros: delicious, great selection Cons: price, parking more

Better than most, which isn't saying much 1/18/2007

Ironically I'm writing about Sprinkles because I've just been to a different cupcake shoppe and have come to the conclusion that all of the places excel in presentation and flavors, but never quite compare to what you'd get using mix + a tub of frosting. I've sampled the breakfast cupcake, strawberry, red velvet, vanil/milk choc, choc/coconut, pb/choc, pumpkin + lemon ginger at Sprinkles and although the ingredients are quality and the flavors are great (pb/choc, red velvet + pumpkin are standouts), the cupcakes themselves are kind of dry and definitely overpriced for what you get. Sprinkles is better than My Little Cupcake (very dry), Yummy Cupcake (strange muffin-like texture), Leda's Bake Shop (airy cake, but frosting is whipped + frothy rather than dense, their cookies are amazing though) and Mrs Beasley (dry cake and a mountain of sugary, flavorless frosting). Joan's On Third seems superior but only for their homage to the hostess cupcake. Overall they're impressive as a gift, or if you're pining for an exotic flavor beyond your culinary abilities, but for your own indulgence you're better off baking them yourself. more

Definitely not worth $3.25/each 1/15/2007

Like others I wanted to see what the big deal was so I went on Sunday to avoid the parking issue and the crowds. The cupcakes were OK. I got the 'black and white' and the 'carrot.' They both were VERY sweet and I love sweet things. Suprisingly, I preferred the carrot. I had to drink two bottles of water with them though. I think the packaging of the cupcakes were cute considering how much I paid for them. Would be a good idea to give to someone as a small cake on her bday. more

BOO! 12/28/2006

totally bland tottaly boring tottally blah. wasn't worth the money or the time i spent there - the associates weren't all that friendly and there was def no parking available in the area - go somewhere else in west hollywood Cons: boo! more
