Best

What I like most about these cupcakes is the buttery flavor of the moist cake, and of course the generous slathering of frosting. \r \r They are not inexpensive by any means, ...

Worst

I gotta say, these cupcakes are not special! at $3 and up, they are ALL about the hype. They're good, sure, but so are the red velvet cupcakes from Ralph's. Not worth a long line ...

Delicious and Cute 11/20/2006

Mmm.. i love Sprinkles cupcakes! My favorite flavors are their vanilla, milk chocolate, peanut butter chip, and banana. The vanilla isnt too sweet, and has such a fresh vanilla flavor and is always very moist. The milk chocolate is one of the best because the frosting has cream cheese in it - everyone i know LOVES it. The banana is moist and tastes just like banana bread.. and if you like PB, you'll love the peanut butter chip! My only gripes are the prices and the insane line out the door! i prefer the quieter OC location. Pros: cute, perfectly frosted, yummy flavors, quality Cons: prices, long lines more

good cupcakes. but small cupcakes. 11/14/2006

i came here looking for cupcakes, because im a big cupcake fan. the first time i went, they were really dry (probably because i came around closing time) they werent as good as i expected. but they were good enough. i love their interesting flavor selections (they change daily). more

eye candy 11/13/2006

I'd been wanting to visit Sprinkles for some time now - just to find out what it wa all about. My first attempt was thwarted due to the long line and lack of parking... But that only helped the anticipation grow. The displays and the presentation were such a delight - the modern decor was so original and everything looked enticing. The Lemon cupcake i sampled was quite delicious... (after having read so many negative reviews, i didn't know what to expect). Yes, the prices are pretty high - but well worth it for the quality and the presentation. Pros: the cupcakes! Cons: the long lines. more

Absolutely and completely overrated gave me a sugar headache 10/26/2006

I bought three cupcakes today at Sprinkles ( waited in line 20 minutes for them because of how slow the service is) and they were so terrible that I literally fed them to the pigeons hanging around outside my bank which is across the street. I bought a strawberry cupcake for my 3 year old daughter- horrendous with no flavor at all and sickly sweet frosting and she wouldn't eat it, a caramel apple which was again, incredibly sweet, and finally a vanilla with milk chocolate frosting- this is the one the pigeon preferred. I just don't get the hype. The store is designed beautifully and the boxes and utensils are very funky. Maybe that's the draw because it isn't the cupcakes or the service- a woman behind the counter kept yelling at people to keep the door closed and either wait inside or out in line. She didn't even attempt to be polite. I bought three mini doggie cupcakes for my dogs and they liked them. Total for the order was $18.00- a complete waste of money Pros: nice utensils and boxes Cons: too sweet, cake has no flavor, rude & slow service more

Yummy Cupcakes. Revolting Prices. 10/24/2006

How can they get away with 3.25 a cupcake? Because they're in Beverly Hills, and they were on Oprah. The cupcakes are good, but I was disappoint at the cupcakes offered on the day I went. Be sure you check the daily flavors online before you break the bank for some sugar and flour. more

Overrated is right 10/23/2006

I know they are trendy and they look cute, but the cake flavors are pretty bland and the frosting is too much. I have purchased these a few times but have been underwhelmed... more

Best Cupcake in the World 10/7/2006

The cupcakes are expensive, but out of this world. There were so many flavors to choose from, that I had to buy a dozen for me and my dog... They're the best!!! Pros: Great Place Cons: Parking and Small Location more

overhyped average cupcakes. 10/7/2006

Sprinkles is seriously overrated! They're cupcakes are alright but they're not mind blowingly phenomenal. The frosting is too sweet and way too thick. Plus, three dollars for a cupcake? I'm sorry but I could buy two for that price in NY!!!!!! I'm guessing that celebs love this place because its right in their neighborhood and since they're drowning in money they think this place is such a bargain. Also, its pretty lame how they don't offer all their flavors everyday. My friend and I wanted to try the chai latte one on Saturday but they weren't offering it. Pros: service, ambience Cons: cupcakes, price, parking more

not impressed. 9/24/2006

is it just the location? or the publicity? granted, everything looks great, but we tried three different cupcakes - the cake was pretty bland on all three, and the icing was so sweet it made my teeth hurt. people wait in line and double park for that? i don't get it. more

TOO EXPENSIVE. 9/10/2006

I believe Sprinkles has just raised their prices to $3.50 a cupcake! That is just too much for a bunch of flour and frosting. Seriously, folks -- that's $14.00 for 4. And normally you want to eat two. There are many other options out there in Los Angeles. I do think Sprinkles are good and will continue to get them on occassion, but that's all. more

overpriced, overrated not worth your $ 9/9/2006

I went to go try it out today after reading so many rave reviews! are you kidding me??\r or all you people all brainwashed because of the location. I was looking forward to having my cupcakes experience like the ones in NY (cupcake cafe on 9th ave/hell's kitchen) what I got was overpriced, overrated cupcake that didn't even come close to my expectations itself ! \r I could not believe my eyes, the shape of the cupcake was odd, it had a huge mound of icing & what looked like cheap sprinkles like the ones from the supermarket, it looked ugly..after I bit into it, I got a mouth full of icing that was pasted on so thick that I almost threw up..I took the icing off with a plastic knife & hoped that the cake itself would save the day....I was disapponited...the bread tasted like something out of a box of cake mix. I did not have a satisfying experience. I will continue to search for my cupcakes in LA that could even pale in compariosn to the one in NYC. SAve your money & the trouble, it's not worth it more

Good Pr doesn't equal good taste 9/5/2006

Heard about Sprinkles, so I went to try it at the location in Newport Beach. Wow, very very blan tasting. The $3.25 cost per cupcake is absolutely not worth it. Yes, they look pretty, but not something I couldn't do myself. I tried the black and white, red velvet and the pumpkin. They must have really good PR otherwise they wouldn't be all over tv. Oprah and all the celebrities that claim their cupcakes are fabulous really need to get their taste buds checked because they taste as if they came from a Betty Crocker box from the grocery store and the frosting is just as bad. Food is meant to be eaten and enjoyed, not just looked at...save yourself the $3.25 and make your own cupcakes or a whole cake for that matter. Or, go to a better bakery that offers cupcakes or cakes that are exquisite and something you couldn't make at home, which is the whole point of purchasing a product. Try Portos, Bristol Farms, Katella Deli, etc. Happy eating! Pros: store has a nice ambiance and clean Cons: mediocre flavored cupcakes more

Good cupcakes, but for a price 9/4/2006

I'm not going to lie here; these cupcakes are delicious. However, for $3 and up for EACH cupcake, they're on the pricey side (this is partly due to the fact that they use a special vanilla that costs over $200/gallon!). I wouldn't say parking is a problem--there are metered lots along Santa Monica Blvd--but if you're with someone, it might be easier to have someone jump out while the other drives around. Again, these are good cupcakes, but I don't think I would ever go back due to the prices. Pros: Good cupcakes Cons: High prices more

check your order! 9/2/2006

The cupcakes are delicious, but make sure you check the box before you leave. I ordered 4 cupcakes after waiting in line 26 minutes, and since my meter was expiring in 2 minutes, I just paid and left. It wasn't until I got to my car that I looked inside, and saw that they may as well have chosen them at random. They only got 2 of them right. Mind you they check off boxes on a little card as you order, so that in theory they would be sure to get it right. Even still, the cupcakes are great. I'll definitely go back. more

cute store and cute cupcakes 8/12/2006

after visiting Magnolia Bakery in New York, i couldn't wait to check this place out. i'm not sure if it was the selection or taste, but i enjoyed the cupcakes at Sprinkles more than its East Coast competitor. the bakery is contemporary cute, and although my pocketbook would disagree of me making a habit out of coming here, i think it's a great thing to check out at least once. but please be mindful that trendy can be expensive, and you're looking to shed $3 something for one little cake. Pros: cute little cakes Cons: pricey little cakes more

good cupcakes but not great 8/10/2006

I would say the cupcakes are good, not great. Moist, yummy, lots of frosting. I like Magnolia Bakery in NY a lot more! Pros: yummy Cons: VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!! more

Heaven found! 8/8/2006

I love this place...I always try to buy a cupcake or 2 (or a dozen) whenever I'm around Beverly Hills...the daily cupcakes are divine--especially the red velvet cupcake...the specials are also good...I find one cupcake is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth...my dog also loves their doggy cupcakes...overall this is a great place to satisfy a cupcake craving Pros: yummy cupcakes, friendly staff, animal friendly environment Cons: parking, small area designated for eating cupcakes more

Best Red Velvet in the city 8/7/2006

I'm so sad Sprinkles is all the way on the Westside... but it's worth the drive from Echo Park. \r \r Their red velvet cupcake is AMAZING... I get at least one every time I go... and then dream about how bad I want another for weeks. The strawberry flavour is pretty great too. \r \r However, I was disappointed in the black and white--I found it too dense and heavy. Also the chai latte flavor is terrible--don't waste your money! Pros: Red velvet is amazing, addictive, plenty of parking just north of Santa Monica Cons: Chocolate cupcake is too dense, too far away from the eastside more

Very Busy Cupcake Joint 8/4/2006

I went in this morning to pick up a cupcake for a friend's birthday. It was very busy which I took to be a good sign. I purchased a banana cupcake for myself, a chocolate cupcake for my roommate and a peanut butter cupcake for my roommate and for the birthday girl I got the red velvet cupcake. Our cupcakes were delicious, however the service was not so hot. For someplace on the Rodeo shopping route you think they would be more on top of things. They asked if I wanted something to drink. I thought about it and said a bottle of water. I paid for it... Got in my car and while eating my scrumptious banana cupcake I needed a drink of water... No bottle of water in my bad. Bad service like that will keep me from going back. Pros: Scrumptious Cupcakes Cons: Check your bag before you get on the highway. more

delicious! 8/2/2006

I've tried Black & White, Red Velvet, Banana, Carrot, Coconut, Strawberry, Milk Choc, and Peanut Butter Cup. All were yummy except for Strawberry... don't waste your $3.25 - it's disgusting. My faves are Black & White and Red Velvet. Pros: good selection, nice packaging Cons: line continues outside and moves too slow; expensive more
