A Joke Split Second Towing Is\r \r I do not understand how a company this illegitimate and poorly managed has remained in business. \r \r The owner of this tow company is a thief. \r \r The company will tow cars they are not authorized to tow \r they will tow cars with out stickering or providing warning first\r they will tow cars from handicap parking even if you have proper handicap identifaction displayed\r they will tow cars late in the night so no one can see them just like thieves\r they will tow cars from private property in which they have no permission to even be on\r I have found dozens of reports of them illegally or improperly towing cars and in some cases them even having to admit to it and return the car or release it at no cost. \r \r all these things sound like fraud to me. I will be sure to see my concerns reach the proper county regulations departments I am not your average consumer or college kid you oh so much like to steal cars from as the reviews depict. I will not be contacting the BBB or usual means of attorney, bad reviews etc. I will be presenting legitimate evidence to the DOA of improper and illegal business practices maybe if you are lucky this will not become criminal and they will only close your doors and fine you. In all honesty either way it turns out you will lose money and time and we all know those are the only things that matter. Ignorance is bliss.\r \r \r Example please tell me what professional company in any world addresses their consumer/customer with this manner and I quote:\r \r ""awesome service – first off bit** .. if u would have put the sticker in the right place than ur peace o sh** wouldnt of got towed.. and if u would have called nice you would have been treated nice.. and maybe if u werent to busy about stuffing ur face at golden corral maybe the person on the other line can understand you.. you were the one that was wrong putting your sticking under your car isnt right.. if u call split second rude than u will be treated rude... so whos the pig now""\r . more

Ok so, I realize most people reading reviews will be like ""eh, it can't be THAT bad...these people just have a bad attitude!""\r In this case...it's that bad.\r \r My vehicle was improperly and illegally towed from my apartment complex a few weeks ago. After hours of discussing it over the phone and getting my property manager involved, they said they'd tow it back free-of charge. (Originally, I would have to go get it with something like $150 IN CASH.) Ok, awesome! The hour goes by, my car isn't back. Go to the property manager again. They call; towing company changed their minds so now I need to go pick it up. (What?) I explained I didn't have a ride, so they grudgingly sent someone to pick me (and another tenant, who was in the same situation) up. She was patient and pretty nice but you can tell the company isn't happy with it.\r \r Since there was no damages and the only loss was my time, I made the choice to not press charges in a small claims court.\r \r HOWEVER, this time...my boyfriends vehicle was improperly and illegally towed! The decal is visible from 50 yards away and crystal-clear on the windshield; the woman on the phone for the company EVEN ADMITTED that the wrecker made a mistake, and assured it'd be back in an hour. (The company comes at like...4 or 5am when it's still dark, shines a flashlight in ONE SPOT on the windshield, snaps a pic and tows you.) Even got a phone call saying ""We'll be there in 20 minutes"". Well, I guess they changed their mind again--we got back to the complex about five hours later after giving instructions to put the vehicle in a parking spot...and it wasn't there. So we call. Their policy has changed! Now we need to bring $60 in cash and pick it up. Guy on the phone is incredibly rude about it, too. Hangs up on us and everything--without even supplying the address to the place.\r \r Uh...? Ok...so, we drive over in my car. I should add that the gentleman on the phone has been rude and condescending the entire time. I don't know if it was the manager or an employee, but compared to the woman who assisted me, he was terrible and unprofessional and every way.\r \r Anyway, we get there and only an employee is around (reasonable, it's after main office hours). He comes out aggressively demanding what our business is and demanding a driver's license. Doesn't let us near the gate entrance to get into the building, and when we say we need to discuss getting the vehicle back without paying the fee (since it was illegal and all...and considering what they said earlier), the guy starts YELLING and kicks us off of the property. He later claimed my boyfriend yelled at him--but I can assure you that isn't true. He was definitely leaning against my car calmly, but sternly, asking if we were to be charged, why do you need my license, who are you, etcetc. \r \r Note: the police are useless and will tell you to pay in cash and take it to small claims court. Yeah, thanks a lot guys. If I went and towed a vehicle like that, I'd be arrested for grand larceny.\r \r We ultimately got the cash and paid it, because we need the vehicle back. But it isn't over; and we aren't wrong. \r This towing company practices predatory, improper towing practices. (Oh, the three of us that I've witnessed this happen to? We still have our out-of-state plates.) Their manager and the majority of their employees are aggressive, rude, condescending, and threatening. (Good on the woman who was not; it must be tough to work there.) \r \r IF you live ANYWHERE that deals with this company, beware. Know EXACTLY what they look for, when they arrive, and who to call. Read up on the related Florida statutes for your legal rights, and be sure to have cash ready. What they're doing is criminal.\r more

vicious and criminal towing practice 11/20/2011

Split second towing needs to be investigated by the Florida Cosumer Protection Agency and the BBB. They practice illegal towing out of Heritage Pines Appartment complex on Cross Creek Blvd.Arriving during the middle of the night they towed my Father in Laws car and trailor out of the appartment complex without authorization even though we had permission to park. Split Second Towing is vicious and criminal in their practice and people should stay away from this company. Split second towing should not be allowed to operate their business in Florida,When you try to talk to the managers or the owner whose name is Jeff Peters, they do not follow up and they do not call you back. Be Warned and stay far away from this crook company more

Split Second Towing Needs To Be Investigated 9/6/2011

Split Second Towing needs to be investigated by the Florida Consumer Protection Agency and the Florida Better Business Bureau. I recently visited my sister in Florida. The purpose of my visit was to provide brotherly support just before her cancer surgery at Moffett Hospital. During my short stay, her van and my brother-in-law more

CRAP CRAP CRAP!!! 8/6/2011

These guys on Bears Ave are completely out of their mind. My car was towed from a friends place..... which is fine as my car was parked beyond Midnight after which they start towing the cars without parking decal. I got their number from apartment rental office and called them to inquire if it was really towed or stolen.... The guy who named himself as Mark was full of crap. He was too rude and said he does not know if the car was towed and even if he knew he wouldn't tell and I should go and file a complaint with cops. The next day I went to collect the car and again the attitude that these guys showed was full of sh**. They don't look like a towing company but street side bullies with negative scale etiquette . What the hell do they think of themselves. Complete idiots in short. Stay away from these half minded people. more

People are right. This review needs less than 1 star. 1/16/2011

I understand that getting your car towed is never a fun experience but it should definitely not be like pulling teeth to get YOUR OWN property back! After my car was towed for being in a parking lot for 30 minutes I called this number from the signs around the lot. That inbred hick Jeff spoke so trashy that all I knew was his ""Towing Lot"" was somewhere off E.Bearss, OR off Nebraska, OR off 12th Street? Finding his ""Professional Service"" literally took 1 and a half hours and multiple calls filled with disrespect and profanity. My friends could clearly hear his trashy voice yelling at us over my phone as ""What is wrong with you F****** People?"" The ""Easily Light Up Sign"" was a plywood board covered with a fancy sticker and completely blocked behind multiple U-Hauls. There was practically no way to find his towing lot at nighttime since the office is behind all the trucks and there's only 1 poorly light sigh with no other lights letting you know that area is even someone's property. If your vehicle has the misfortune to get towed by this crazy inbred hillbilly, I am so sorry and hope your able to get your vehicle back and with as little profanity filled insults as possible. more

Too bad a zero-star review isn't possible... 9/23/2010

Previous posts aren’t lying or even exaggerating - this place is the worst, and Jeff is a maniac. Like several other posters, I was a victim of an illegal tow (as was one of the workers in my apartment complex's office - go figure). After my apartment’s office staff contacted Jeff, he agreed to bring my car back “sooner, not later…it wouldn’t be like midnight or something,” and to put back exactly where he had towed it from. \r \r Well, when 8pm rolled around, I had my boyfriend call to ask where my car was (since I had read all these delightful reviews) – and Jeff promised he’d have it by midnight, no problem. Well, at 2:30am I still had no car and I had work at 7am, so I called and demanded to know where my car was and why Jeff hadn’t brought it back the way he said he would. And Jeff absolutely lost it – he launched into a tirade, ranting and yelling obscenities, calling me all kinds of names and cursing at me (he even used “pie-hole” a few times, which is actually somewhat amusing in retrospect). I won’t go into the details, but there were plenty of f*cks and sh*ts and b*tches flying around. It was a totally uncalled for reaction – I didn’t yell and I didn’t curse at him at all, and he absolutely flipped out.\r \r In any case, shortly before 4am, he did bring my car back – and dropped it off in a handicapped spot – a lovely touch.\r \r I wouldn’t ever, ever, ever use this company for any reason, and now I know several people who won’t deal with them either. I told my office staff what had happened, and I’m hoping they’ll terminate their relationship with Split Second Towing if they haven’t already. I especially wouldn’t use these lunatics if I had any female relative or friend – I’m no feminist but Jeff is an absolute pig toward women – my boyfriend and the male office staff member had no problems with him.\r \r No positives to this company. Here’s hoping your apartment complexes aren’t foolish enough to hire Jeff. And if he does tow your legally parked car (and he will), I hope you get it back in one piece. more

Horrible... 8/11/2010

I agree with a previous post. This place truly deserves no stars. They are disgusting toothless rednecks on a power trip. I had a similar situation where my apartment complex had my car towed because my decal on my plate was expired. My registration was valid, but someone had stolen the sticker (which I came to find out happened to several people in the complex). After calling Split Second, the company owner (Jeff), said ""THE STICKER SAYS '09. IT'S 2010 BUDDY!"". I called him many expletives to which he replied ""You shouldn't be rude to people who have your sh*t!."" I guess he thinks he owns your car once he takes it. Moron. Either way, after explaining it to my apt complex, they agreed to pay the fee. Good ole' Jeff refused to deal with them and made us pay upfront. Wow. They are just downright bad people. The one upside is that my life in infinitely better than theirs. It's a great feeling not to be white trash. more

IMBREED REDNECKS 5/3/2010

Your review \r WOW nasty people? - ? - 2010-05-03\r Well this place signed a contract with my apartment complex that went into effect on 05/01/2010 well they towed three people that night. ( LOL my complex said they should or did put a sticker on my car and gave me a 24 hours notice LOL well if the contract went into effect on the 1st And my car was towed on the 1st I don’t see 24 hours in that LOL ) this company is a bunch of inbreed rednecks. Also they did not follow the law and call the sheriff within the hour of picking up a vehicle. Also the folks I delt with were so rude and used bad bad bad curse words that my kids heard on speaker phone. WOW. My APT. complex says they have the right to tow for what they think is ok. Again WOW. So don’t move into the RETREAT we pay a lot of money to stay in low income apartments. I would love the owner of split second to contact me and try to tell me he is a good business owner. LOL LOL that’s all I can say. \r Pros: NON Cons: Ever thing more

Rude, Liars and Illusions of Grandeur 3/4/2010

The apartment complex I live in uses this company to tow anyone who is illegally parked. They have access to the complex at night which is gated and do their rounds looking for anyone who could be considered illegally parked. When they towed my vehicle which was not illegally parked, I called them in which the owner was rude from the beginning. When I began to argue with him telling him I wasn't parked illegally, he began to swear and scream stating ""I'm the owner!"" like he was better than everyone else and ""You will pay the full price!"" and promptly hung up on me. I had to speak with the apartment complex and threaten getting a lawyer involved. The apartment complex manager somehow managed to talk him into giving the vehicle back and delivering it to me. When asked to see the pictures, they were at subjective angles to make it look like I was parked illegally but ultimately didn't prove anything except my tire had contact with the curb versus his story of ""being over the curb"" which is far from being illegally parked. I don't know why this company and possibly others are given access to apartment complexes to tow people at their discretion, but their judgment of what ""illegally parked"" means is far from accurate. It seems like they are more about taking people's money than being honest people who tow people who are illegally parked which could cause a hazard for emergency services such as Fire Trucks and Ambulances. And even if I was on here typing irately from having my vehicle towed, it still doesn't negate the fact they treat people like garbage and other people I spoke with from the complex who have had their vehicles towed by this company have all said similar statements. And since the owner is who I dealt with, it speaks volumes of the company as a whole. I suggest you never use this company for anything you need and pray they don't steal your vehicle in the middle of the night. Too bad I cannot rate them ""No Stars"". P.S. The one Five-Star rating review on this board was most likely made by the company to make themselves look better. The Caps-Lock was a nice touch to make it stand out. Could you people go any lower? (Forgive the giant block of text. This board auto edits everything into a wall of text.) Cons: Everything more
