The tech who came was nice enough but he ran my machine for a few minutes and pronounced it fixed ...didn't bother to bend over and look into the bottom of the machine covered with bits of the broken counter weight . called them back that day .nothing?/ next day they flat out refused to do anything because they didn't like the way I talked to them ..Filed a complaint with Lowes .DO NOT USE THEM !!!!!!! EVER !!!!. more

If the three stooges were to open an appliance repair shop I'm pretty sure they would name it South Texas Appliance Repair. For over 13 weeks our build in microwave has been broken waiting on these clowns to fix it. At first it was the fuze, then it was a ciruit board. They have ordered and reordered the board and keep getting the wrong one in. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and received an email from the BBB stating that the company would not resolve the issue, so it will remain as a blemish against them. more

I have never posted a review online before, but felt compelled to doing so after Lowe's arranged for STAR to come out and take a look at our washing machine. This company offers extremely poor customer service. The tech that came out insulted our intelligence and hardly opened the washing machine to make his assessment. He stated he would call the following day with an update - never happened. My husband called two days later and asked to speak to a manager. We discovered that the tech ""closed out"" the ticket and claimed the repair had been completed. I can't believe a company like Lowe's would use this awful repair service to help their customers. We have since complained to Lowe's and have been referred to another repair company. more

They Broke It!!!!! 11/9/2011

My product warranty company sent this service out to repair my Kitchen Aide ice machine. It was a cluster screw up from the beginning. The very nich tech showed up and diagnosed that a new pump was needed and he said he would be back the following week. He never came back, never called. A month goes by and I remember to call them. They couldn't locate my paper work and when they did, they said it showed my job had been completed. I informed the lady it had not been completed and another 2 weeks go by and I get a phone call that the tech is 15 minutes from my house--no appointment had been made, so I was surprised. So, the guy gets here, installs the pump--never tests it to see if it works properly--he just says, 'you need a plumber to install a filter--ok, fine. more

My experience with this company has been so so. On the other hand, I have read a lot of bad things about the technicians, who I luckily haven't had to deal with, but I would only have nice things to say about ""Johnny"". He was very polite, found the problem right away and was helpful. Unfortunately this company as a whole isn't all that but it seems like this is the company that the warranty refers you to so we're kinda stuck in that sense. If it wasn't covered under warranty I wouldn't choose to go here, I guess that's the best way to put it. more

HORRIBLE 10/18/2011

Wish there was a negative rating. I can't speak for the company itself but I can speak about the technician that we delt with on 2 different occasions regarding the same issue. Rude, not helpful, and flat out disrespectful to the clients. If you get Martin as your tech I would go ahead and call and request a different person because he is NOT going to help or solve the problem. In fact, he will leave with you practically begging him to stay and wait for your contact to call his boss. Absolutely ridiculous. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

These people only want your money. They could care less if they help you .... Take my advice DO NOT allow these people into your home. My home warranty claims ajuster sent them to mine, I went on-line and read the reviews before they came thinking that they could'nt be that bad, or may be they had a couple of mad custmers. If only I had just called the ajusters and asked for someone else, then i would not be complaining along with everyone else. The service tech said the problem with my fridge was that the ice-maker shorted out and that it was NOT covered under my warranty.When we refused to pay $200.00 out of pocket he removed the ice-maker from my fridge, put electrical tape on the loose wires and plugged it in. We did not know the wires were touching and this could have ended very badly but thank god for surge protectors. or we could be needing more then just a new fridge. by the way: ice-makers are covered if you fridge is covered....thanks a lot south texas appliance repair. more

Horrible Experiance 6/30/2011

The Service tech sent to fix our dishwasher said it needed a part and would be in Tuesday, I ask my father to call Tueday to see if our part came in, that they ordered to repair our new Maytag dishwasher and they told him ""Do not call us about this again, we will call you when it comes in "" Nice attutude for a Maytag Rep. I called Maytag on Thursday and they called this Dump and they said it will be in this afternoon and we will call the owners to schedule, Its now Monday and No Call ????? Ido not know what to do !!!!!!!!!!! more

Factory Service... ...I don't think so 4/1/2011

So I was just minding my own business when my dryer less than 30 days old, stopped working. I called the place where I bought it. They told me to call the factory. The automated system told me to call South Texas Repair. At first they seemed to be on top of the situation. Then Scott got involved. This man knows nothing about dealing with people. After exosting all reason with him, I asked to talk with the owner. He had the nerve to tell me, ""do you think you could ask to talk to the owner of Best Buy?"" And ""The owner is not in. I'll tell him you would like a call when he gets here."" Then he proceeded to hang up on me. Then when I called back a 2nd time, he hung up on me again. I called and asked for the owner and found out that Bobby's office was at the same location and that he was in fact in. more

Worst repair experience ever!!!!!!! 2/8/2011

I was referred to them by Maytag for problems I was experiencing with my washer. I only wish I had read the reviews before I called them. They are the biggest crooks I have ever met! Do not use them under any circumstances! My washing machine was not draining. They told me I needed a new pump which was going to cost me $285.00. I had them go ahead and replace the pump. After replacing the part, they ran it through a cycle and declared it repaired. Within 2 days, the washing machine was again not draining and displaying the same error code. I called STAR and told them the washer was having the same problem. They sent the repairman back out, who spend 5 minutes here and told my husband the hose was twisted. Bobby (the owner) called me in the afternoon and told me I had obviously twisted the hose (like I spend my time moving the washer out from the wall, twisting the hose and calling repairman!). He said we owed him for an additional service call, even through the machine was experiencing the same problem and obviously had not been correctly diagnosed the first time. After they left the washer again stopped draining and showed the same error code. When I called them again, Bobby refused to send anyone out even through we were still within the 30 day warranty period. I had to call a different appliance repair and pay them a service fee to diagnose the washer as needing a new control panel. The pump was never the problem!! In addition to not standing behind their work, I have never experienced such rudeness. Bobby yelled at me over the phone and was extremely rude and offensive. Listen to all the reviews, do not use these people!!! more

This company can tell you what's wrong by just looking at my dryer. I guess this is why I am waiting on them to come out for the 5th time. They know me well and that is why I am always the last repair they will do for the day, if they even show up. Robert and Adam have horrible attitudes but I got one also. You can tell Lupe and Priscilla never went to school for Human Resource Mgmt or even office assistants because they don't know how to answer the phone. I probably was disturbing their spanish soap operas. I am willing to get the word out aout this company if my dryer is not fixed today. I can't believe Whirlpool and Maytag has settled for a company of such imcompetence and they have lost my business forever. more

Terrible Customer Service 10/26/2010

I was provided company information by Whirpool because the appliance is under warranty. South Texas Repair came out and took the appliance and never called with an estimate on how long it would take. Two days later I called and they said they might have an time estimate after the weekend. When I asked why it would take so long for just an estimate came back to the phone and said the part came in and they would deliver on Monday, no time specified. I called on Monday, now 1-week from the initial call, and they said it would be delivered between 8am and 1pm. At 12:30 they call to say they are running late and they would call before they came. At 4:05 a message is left on the answering machine that they are at the door and no one is home. I called at 4:30 to find out it would be Thursday for the next delivery time. I ask if they are still in the area and could I run home from work to get it installed...after some time they said they could come back to the house to deliver. I asked them to give me 10 to 15 minutes to get home. Due to traffic it took me 25 minutes and when I got home I waited until 6pm..no call, the office was closed so I had to leave a message. We talk the next day, tuesday, and they said they arrived at 4:50 and no one was there so they left. No call. The next delivery date was again Thursday so I elected to come to their office to pick up the appliance and install it myself. When at the office I complain about the issues above and I asked what they had to do. They said it was a loose wire...What happened to the item that was ordered you ask? I guess it was more convenient to say the delay was parts rather than they didn't get to it. To add insult they seemed put out when I asked to see it operate before I took it. I also asked them to let me carry it out since they were carrying the appliance on their shoulder which bent the brackets. Bottom line - If you want to feel like an outsider that doesn't have any right for service, then give them a call and prepare to wait and hope you get the item being repaired back in one piece. I'll call Whirpool and ask them to please take them off their list of authorized repair facilities. Good luck! more

Worst Service Company in South Texas 9/27/2010

This is the company Maytag uses for repair in S. Texas and they are the worst. They are unreliable and rude. All the comments rang 100% true for our experience. They arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday night because they FORGOT the part. Adam, the service guy was rude, as if WE inconvenienced them. We are now without a dryer for a week and half and I am calling one of the suggested appliance firms recommended. STAY AWAY.... more

Do not use this service, they are rude, incompetemt and will sell additional more expensive parts if you do not watch them while they do service. The initial service call is just to steal 65-75 dollars because you will have to pay an additional 125+ for labor on the mandatory second call even if they order the wrong parts. I told them that they treated their customers like crap, Alma said that she did not appreciate being spoken to that way???? I indicate that they treat me badly and SHE is offended. Bobby the owner is also untrustworthy. At a minimum, they are incompetent or at worst they are dishonest, either way, use someone else or buy a new appliance before using them for repairs. more

BEWARE: DISHONEST COMPANY! 9/15/2010

I also have a Lowe's warranty. Lowes sent this company to fix my dryer. Tech told me that they had the part, but because it was warranty, I would have to wait several weeks for the repair. My only option would be to pay him for the labor and part if I wanted it repaired the next day. What a scam! I called Lowes warranty number and told them I thought this company was going to ""double dip"". Charge me and Lowes. They sent Cal-Tex out to my home the next day. Cal-Tex was professional, showed me the burned out part, and also cleaned out the dryer for free! I will be getting the part on Friday. Cal tex also was helpful on the phone.
