Best Indian Cuisine 4/8/2011

I went to Shalimar with a friend I must say it was some of the best foood I have ever eaten, the chicken was so moist and tender I had 3 servings and there sauces were simply delicious. At $10.00 all you can eat you cant go wrong beats any fast food joint that you end up spending 10.00 for a burger fries and a coke. I will come back for sure.. more

Best Indian Food! 3/8/2011

We had dinner at Shalimar last Saturday night and it was the most amazing Indian food! They had the best Chicken Tikka Masala I've ever had. My husband had the Shrimp Curry which was over the top! We went back today for the lunch buffet which was great! It had a great variety of dishes to try out. I would highly recommend this restaurant! Great service and great owners! more

Great Food! Greater Service!! 7/31/2010

Exquisite food, paralleled only by their service. I arrived with a big appetite and left very much satisfied. When you're in the area be sure to visit Shalimar, I'm certain you'll find their cuisine as well as their charming enthusiasm more than enjoyable! Also the parking is abundant, and prices are very reasonable for such good food. Can't wait for another trip...! Pros: Quiet area, plenty of parking, very reasonable prices! Cons: Other restaurants aren't as appeasing!! more

Excellent Indian Food 5/24/2010

I go often to Shalimar. Love the food and the service. Ever since taking over the restaurant, the new chef and his team do a tremendous job both on the quality of food and the service. The appetizers are great and I especially love the sev puri. The entrees are excellent and for those who love chicken make sure you try the chilly chicken sizzler. Pros: Tasty Food, Good Service more

Delicious Indian Restaurant 5/4/2010

Wonderful Chiken Tikka Masala and I love their Tandoori Chiken!! And Mango Lassi is amazing! They have a lunch buffee, which has so many kinds of curries. Also we can eat as much as for chiken tandoori, vegitable salada, and vegi pakoras. I like to come here all the time :) Pros: Excellent Chiken Tandoori & Mangolassi Cons: The edge of Culver City, but quiet place more

One of the very best Indian Restaurants 3/27/2010

My wife and I have eaten often at Shalimar. In the past it was because we enjoy Indian food and it was convenient, but was not our favorite Indian restaurant. With the new management it has become our favorite Indian restaurant, and we will enjoy bringing friends there for lunch or dinner. Everything I have ordered since the change in ownership has been excellently prepared and delicious. The quality is far better than it was under previous management. The owner and chef, Keshew and Jaswant Chahal, are very friendly and accommodating. They take a personal interest in ensuring that their customers are happy. They have a very interesting array of chutneys, the nan is excellent, and our favorite dishes, including eggplant, spinach and tandoori dishes are prepared as well as we have had in the best Indian restaurants we have visited in Los Angeles. Pros: Excellent food, friendly attentive service, free parking Cons: None noted so far more

NEW Management at Shalimar's 3/27/2010

My husband & I eat out often -- and we happen to enjoy Indian food a lot. What an absolute surprise to find the new management: Keshew and his darling wife, Jaswant to be not only warm and friendly but serve the most delicious Indian food in their newly refreshed restaurant. Everything is fresh and tasty and -- priced right. Pros: It's become our favorite Indian restaurant in Los Angeles Cons: There aren't any. more

Great Indian Food 3/7/2010

Shalimar restaurant under the new management is totally transformed. It's amazing that quality and taste of food has improved substantially. I have been to several resturants in this area for last 10 years but this one gets a 5 star rating particularly in the category of Indian authentic food. Pros: Tasty food, friendly staff, nice location more

A change for the better 3/3/2010

I don?t like to write about a place that has just opened or changed ownership but the food at Shalimar is so good and such a good value that I feel compelled to let people know about it. Like all new places the kitchen was a little slow but the staff is friendly and we had amazing shrimp and fish pakoras with a fresh, delicious, bright green-chili chutney, a sizzling platter of addicting ?chili chicken?, a dish of succulent chicken curry (on the bone for maximum flavor), a bowl of Paneer in an amazing tomato and cream sauce and a perfect onion naan. I can?t wait to go back and try more of the menu.... Pros: Clean, flavor-filled Indian food Cons: They are new more

Hello foodies?love awesome strip mall mom and pop ventures. This place rocks with deliciousness!!!!!!!!!! These new owners put their heart, soul and talent into their food. Best Indian Food in Culver City 2/26/2010

I have been a lover of Indian food for over 35 years. I have enjoyed this fine cuisine in San Francisco, New York, London and Los Angeles. I have found a number of quality Indian Restaurants in the Los Angeles area; Akbar, Surya, Holy Cow & Bombay Caf? to name a few. However, I have struggled to find a local Indian Restaurant here in Culver City. Well, that changed at the beginning of this New Year! I was surprised one day to find that the former head chief of the Bombay Caf? had taken over the entire operations of Shalimar. Finally I could get great authentic Indian food in Culver City. Believe me Indian food lovers?.there is a difference in authentically prepared Indian food and places that advertise they serve Indian food. Chef Keshew Chahal & his wife, Jaswant know how to serve up authentic Indian food. I highly recommend this restaurant and suggest you try their lunch buffet or anything on their variety filled menu. They will cook to your desire including vegan dishes. On the Root Coalition scale of 1 to 5?Shalimar gets a 5! Pros: Authentic Indian food in all of Culver City Cons: Sandra's posting! more

Food that makes you remember it 2/25/2010

I love the food here, it has so much flavor that makes me crave it on a daily basis. The chicken curry over rice is amazing. I didnt expect lamb makhni to be on the lunch menu and enjoyed that as well. I enjoy coming back as often as i do. Pros: Everything...my favorite Chicken Curry more

Shalimar=SUCKimar 2/5/2010

Note: I originally posted this on Yelp. I'm repeating it everywhere possible to save people from wasting their money and palate on this place. If I could give this place negative stars, I would. My boyfriend and I have been eating there for a while, but mainly because they are a) close to my house, b) they deliver, and c) I used to be of the philosophy that even BAD Indian food was better than no Indian food. And truth is, the food didn't used to be bad. It was pretty good. The service was horrible, though--very rude and bordering on mean. And the prices were ridiculous! I practically had to take out a bank loan every time we ate there, and it's not like we ordered a lot of food. Now, they are boldly advertising ""UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT."" If I were them, I'd keep that on the down low. Cuz they SUCK now. I have nothing good to say about the place. For ex., they used to have an 8pc tandoori chicken special for $10.95. Suddenly, that's gone and in its place is a $17.95 8pc tandoori ""special"", and a HALF order of that is now $10.95. Yes, you get FOUR measly pieces of tandoori chicken for the same price you used to get EIGHT. Plus the tandoori chicken doesn't even taste like tandoori chicken! It tastes like el pollo loco chicken that was sitting out all day and left to dry up. Overall, avoid this place like the plague. If anyone knows of a good Indian restaurant in Culver City that delivers, please hit me up! Thanks! Cons: poor service, overpriced food more

You will love it! 12/9/2008

This place is great! I am not a spice lover, but this place is something! They have many great selections on their lunch buffet and it is great value. It was my first visit and I am sure I will go back again. Pros: try it! more

The Worst Restaurant, Do Not Eat Here 11/10/2008

I do not recommend eating here. I was sick after eating the food and the bathrooms and floor were filthy dirty. The service was poor. Avoid at all costs. Cons: Terrible food, service, and facility more

POOR SERVICE 9/26/2008

This place has the worst service imaginable. Forget having any individuality when ordering because you can bet that your order will be botched up, even after a simple request like ""no dal"". The food is so-so. The prices are high considering all of this Cons: Service, service, service more

What are you guys talking about? This is good stuff! 10/16/2007

Ive been there a number of times and never got sick. Geez people, do you know what real Indian food is? more
