Best

I went to Shalimar with a friend I must say it was some of the best foood I have ever eaten, the chicken was so moist and tender I had 3 servings and there sauces were simply deli...

Worst

I agree with the other reviews that the food was very good. But we felt the service was so slow and rude that it was not overall a pleasant dining experience. Pros: Excellent ...

Food Made Me Sick 9/6/2007

The food made me sick and I reported them to the health dpt Avoid at all costs, you do not want to eat here. Pros: Absolutely None Cons: Poor food, service, and sickness more

pretty good food 6/22/2007

I may not be an expert on indian food but i say this was a pretty good find for me. I don't eat indian food that much but my roommate is indian so of course, i had some indian food and liked it since. So i try this place for a change and it was really good. Definately, if you're going for the ambiance then it's not really a good place but the food was pretty good. Of course, this is my opinion, you should try it out Pros: good price Cons: the decor more

Buyer Beware 4/6/2007

This place is downright ..thumbs down, way down.. food is unappetizing and bland. I originally went there because they were listed on the Entertainment Coupon book.. .. but dang, that was a hateful mistake. Pros: No wait Cons: Very shady with Entertainment Book Coupon more

Forget ambience, but you'll fall in love with food 3/4/2007

Very authentic Indian without grease. Shrimp Vindaloo, Fish Masala, and Mint Lassee are out of this world. Chicken Tikka Masala is the best I had in the U.S. More authentic than in London. Spicy is really spicy -- but you'll love every dish here. Not a date location - but easy to park. Chowhound proud. Customer service is good and efficient. Pros: Food, Parking, Service, Lunch is a great deal -- all you can eat. Cons: ambience more

Terrific Saag Paneer 1/13/2007

This is a great family owned Indian joint. The Saag, Chicken Tikka and Siek Kabab are all terrific. After ordering from them about 3-4 times, they began treating us with the extra warmth of regular customers, and the owner or his daughter have gone out of their way to deliver to us, even when the delivery guy has gone home. It is a bit on the pricey side, but generally this is true for indian food. The portions are large; 2 people with large appetites could split any of their dinners if they just ordered extra naan. Pros: Good Food, Delivery, Service, Lots of Parking, Great for Large groups Cons: Irregular with Delivery Option more

horrible food 6/8/2006

If you love indian food and looking for a decent bite just avoid this place. Cons: horrible food more

Fine Little Indian Restaurant 5/9/2006

I'm no expert in Indian food, but they have some dishes there that I just love. The quality of the food is what keeps me coming back. I salivate every time I think about their Kashmiri Chicken. The service is fine, but I do wish that there were a spot where I didn't have the music videos in my line of sight. A contemplative raga would nice every now and then. Prices are a little on the high side, but not way out of line. Pros: Food, Service, Parking Cons: Ambience more

food is great, service not worth the trouble 5/5/2006

The food is great, and we really enjoyed it. However, the service is awful. The last time we went, it took them half an hour to bring us water, another 15 minutes to take our order. And that was only AFTER I went up to the counter and asked if we could get a waiter. We ended up having to scarf down our food so we wouldn't be late for our movie, which defeats the point of yummy food. Pros: food is good, easy parking, never full Cons: customer service more

Pathetic food & rude waitress 4/29/2006

The food was really bad. Everything was bland. The ambience was not at all Indian. The waitress was extremely rude! We saw the ratings on net & arranged a party there. We were embarrassed by the whole experience. Those people have surely lost few good customers. Beware of the waitress! She can serve naans even before the drinks! & then if you say something, she has a nerve to argue that ""you should have told me before"". Something called ""basic common sense"" is missing. A BIG NO to this place they call Shalimar Cuisine. Cons: Bad service, Bad food more

a total rip off 4/10/2006

we ordered takout for 3 people and our bill was 97 dollars, the food was more expensive than priced in the menu, (7 $ for a small soup when in the menu they were 4 & 5) on a 10 $ entree we had to pay extra for white rice but the biggest shock of all was the 15 dollar tip they added onto our credit card on top of what we gave them. the food was not that great at all and we feel so ripped off we're compelled to write a review, find somewhere else to go, these people are shady and the hidden costs are ridiculous. also i should say that the menu was up to date as we picked it up when we got the food, then came home and couldn't figure out why the bill was 25$ more than it should have been. more

Best mattar paneer, bar none 2/18/2006

Shalimar is Culver City's hidden gem. I was lucky enough to discover it when I lived nearby and now I'll venture all the way across town when I'm in the mood for a truly excellent meal. It's a comfortable, unassuming neighborhood restaurant run by friendly, helpful people. You probably wouldn't expect a restaurant in a Ralph's shopping center to serve up the best Indian dishes in the L.A. area, but this one certainly does. Pros: Excellent Food, Reasonable Prices, Parking, Delivery Cons: There's Only One more

great neighborhood Indian 2/11/2006

This place has great indian food for the price + take out and delivery. Sure its not a see and be seen place--but its about the food not the atmosphere. more

Good Value.. worth trying 10/14/2002

An inexpensive Indian restaurant buffet with surprisingly good food. Not the best, but for the price you get a great buffet deal. Usually offers a good selection of dishes, including soup, samosas, nan, meats and vegetables. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Variety, Fast Cons: Lack of atmosphere more
