Fantastic store to purchase fabric for small and large projects. Quality fabric can be found at a fraction of the cost. You have to dig and search and may have to purchase fabric...

Extremely Rude.... 1/5/2012

The ONLY reason I even bothered to give this place 1 star was because of the prices. As far as customer service it really was BAD. I had about 8 bolts of fabric up on the counter and waited 15 minutes while the staff talked among themselves, walked past me and ignored me, took time to pet some dog someone brought into the store. A very heavy set woman (when I asked if she wanted to start cutting) said ""I can't until your finished shopping"". I could of continued my shopping WHILE she was cutting as each measurement was exactly the same (which I did when she finally got busy). I really don't expect to have someone at my elbow holding my bolts of fabric and rushing around for me but NOT ignoring a customer that obviously was waiting for service and just being snotty is not necessary. If you don't have to shop there don't bother..... more

Great Value - and Not Such Bad Service, Either 9/2/2011

I've been shopping here for years, for fabrics to decorate for themed New Year's Eve parties, for costume materials, and for ribbons for Maypoles. The staff have always been pleasant and helpful to me -- but when you see the mess some customers make, it's not hard to understand a bit a crankiness from the clerks. I really appreciate the selection and the prices here, and I always find something exciting that inspires me to more decorating and costuming. more

horrible service 6/27/2011

I went in to purchase a LOT of fabric. I wanted to talk to the manager to ask if I could get a bulk price. I never even got to ask anything. I introduced myself, put my hand out for a shake, and she scowled at me. I said, wow, you aren't going to even shake my hand or smile at me. She said, ""NO!"" I would rather deal with a computer and get cheaper prices (found what I needed online for a third of the price), than be abused. I want to support local business very very much but not also be treated like scum. Their selection is ok, but if you feel comfortable buying stuff online, its way cheaper to do so. more

Lots of selection and great prices! 5/1/2011

I almost didn't visit this store after reading the reviews about bad customer service. I figured I have been to Hancock many of times and paid a good penny and received mean looks, bad cuts, and been ignored plenty of time so why not give it a try. I was surprised at the amount and choice of fabric they have along with the great prices. I was able to pick up fabrics that I normally can not buy and have to do without. I didn't even have time to visit the entire store it was so big. I thought I was doing great getting embroidery thread for a buck and a half and they was told at the check out I could purchase 10 machine needles for the same price. WOW.. As far as the customer service. Before we were even finished shopping a sales lady came over and took the fabric from our hands and offered to start cutting it for us. She was not overly cheerful but she smiled at us often. All the clerks I spoke to were helpful and smiled at me. They answered questions as I asked them and they pointed me to areas I inquired about. The only thing disappointing was the fact that they had no shopping carts. Not advisable to go with a child and when your hands get full I guess you've spent enough. more

Wonderful Place, Just Wish It Had Better Morale 3/16/2011

I have been going to SAS in Arizona since 1968. I remember the first fabric I bought at the Phoenix store. About two months ago, I was being checked out by a salesgirl who was extremely bright (couldn't figure out what she was doing working there) and she mentioned that the owner was an absolute nightmare. Recently I went in and my hands were a little dirty so I asked if I could use a sink to wash them. I was told that they didn't have public bathrooms so I said I was a customer and that I could not understand how they would appreciate me looking through their fabrics with unclean hands. The salesgirl who was speaking to me couldn't have been nicer and I was furious. She offered me some hand sanitizer (doesn't work really well for this purpose) which I used. She could see I was upset and in a very low voice, she said, ""You don't know the owner."" I walked away and thought about what had happened so later I asked her for some help and I apologized to her, and said that I had heard the owner was a dreadful woman. I actually feel sorry for the women who work there, they are under terrible pressure to keep constantly working, they feel intimidated and bullied by their employer. I wish I did not have to shop there, but I sew very well and I never leave without some great fabric or trim. I am writing in defense of the saleswomen because if you think they are rude, not helpful, having a bad day, well, it is due to their treatment by the owner. All their days are bad except when she isn't there. If I ever have the chance to speak with her, believe me, I will let her know that she really should not treat her employees badly. Those employees are being abused by the owner, it is obvious, so please cut them some slack if you don't get amazing service. It is not their fault. more

Crappy Customer Service 8/13/2010

My return business factor is customer service, and this palce could use some. They ignore people on a regular basis, and when they do acknowledge your presence you can expect a sour look. more

Great Place 11/11/2009

Fantastic store to purchase fabric for small and large projects. Quality fabric can be found at a fraction of the cost. You have to dig and search and may have to purchase fabric in two cuts but definitely worth the time. Go when you have time to search through the bundles - don't be reluctant to scrounge to the bottom of the heaps - definitely ""Good Stuff""! Pros: Great Deals Cons: Crowded store more
