Salon Monaco Tampa

It's a very busy place right in the heart of Kennedy/South Tampa with minimal and restricted parking. Considering those factors, they do a decent job managing that dynamic. I booked my appointment online, but I also called a few days before to tell them that I had a Groupon. They were friendly on the phone and my appointment started promptly. The reasons that I cancelled my follow-up appointment have a little to do with hair care, and a lot with the finances surrounding my services. I purchased a Groupon for $39.00. That voucher was good for either a Haircut with KeraTriplex Keratin Treatment, Haircut with Partial Highlights or a Haircut with a Single-Process Color. I chose the haircut with single process color. Understandably there was a consultation and my hairstylist claimed that she couldn't do what was on the Groupon without doing other procedures 1st. We discussed price and it amounted to probably an additional $50.00 to strip my hair. She swore she was giving me a deal, and I agreed to this. So in my mind, I have this Groupon that I've already pre-paid for that covers the cost of a haircut (which for me is about 1-2 inches off the end, no layering or anything,) and the dying of my hair. During my consultation, she asked me what type of shampoo I used. I probably named off about 5 different brands, all of which she assured me were unacceptable. This then led to her showing me the products they have for sale. My hairstylist swore up and down that I needed to purchase Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde because it is sulphate free. Now, I wouldn't claim to be an expert but I have long, thick brunette curly hair that needs constant conditioning and moisturizing. She used this line of products while I was there and it left my hair dry and brittle. Where I agree about the sulphate free shampoo, I'm sure there is a line that would better suit someone who needs moisture. But I think it was more important to sell me a name brand fad for a commission instead of really analyzing my personal haircare needs. When all was said and done she charged me a higher price for the stripping procedure, as well as an a-la-carte price per 2-3 additional bowls of color. At the checkout counter she brought up a full-size Paul Mitchell Forever Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner ($18.95 each,) for me to purchase to take home even though I had previously said during our tour of products that I wasn't buying that today. I declined that purchase, but after everything I was charged: $105.62 to walk out the door. This didn't include the $39.00 groupon that I had already paid or the $20.00 tip. So altogether, $164.62 for a very impersonal and average experience. Additionally, I would point out that regardless of the regular price of salon services at Monaco, the length of my hair, the state of my previous color upon arrival, I purchased something that said a full single-process color would be covered. By charging me for additional bowls, that makes this groupon ""deal"" a complete bait and switch. I did make a follow-up appointment that day, but have since called to cancel. They didn't ask why, just said ok and we hung up. This proves my point exactly: at Salon Monaco you are just another number and it's more about the location and the fancy decor than about servicing all clients and building lasting relationships for repeat business. I would not recommend them, and I may launch a complaint with Groupon because they should know that businesses are utilizing them to advertise 1 service and not following through. I will be trying another salon in a couple of weeks. Better luck next time. more

I highly recommend Salon Monaco for men who want to have hair color treatments in Tampa. As a guy, I do not want people to notice that I have been to a salon. I like going to Salon Monaco whenever I need a hair color re-do because their treatment always look natural on me. Nobody notices that I had changed my hair color, which is good because I feel awkward every time people comment about my new looks. If you have the same problem as mine, Salon Monaco might be the solution that you need. more

Guys don?t normally fuss about their looks as much as girls but I hired Salon Monaco for my brother?s wedding. The package included a haircut, organic face mask & manicure for groom and two friends. The complimentary wine was also a plus. My surprise was appreciated and that?s great. Worth the $150 I spent. more

Hairiness runs in the family. My back is covered with hair and my wife is not a big fan. It all started with a dare 2 weeks ago. She said she?d do all the dishes for a month if I get my back waxed. She went with me to Salon Monaco the next day to have it done. I was honestly scared. Yes, there was some pain but I actually like the way my back looks and feels now, and so does my wife. The staff was nice enough to put me at ease and the process was faster than what I had imagined. Given the right reward, I?d do it again. more

The salon allows you to design your own gift certificate so I checked out their website. I know my girlfriend goes there so I was sure she?d like my gift. They also have an upcoming 15% discount for Valentine?s Day and maybe I could get one for my mom. My girlfriend loved it. She had a foot spa and a facial. All the pampering she deserves. more

I am loyal to a barbershop. The day I needed a haircut was the day the shop was closed for renovations. I didn?t know any other place so one of my female co-workers recommended Salon Monaco. I was hesitant at first because it?s NOT a barbershop. But since I was in bad need of a haircut, I tried them out and was nicely surprised by how good the people were there. I think my stylist sensed my hesitation so he made me feel comfortable and asked me what I wanted for my hair. They kept it neat and simple, just the way I like it. No fuss. No pushing of a new hairstyle. more

The colors are all very subtle and your hair looks thicker in a way. I?ve had my hair dyed before but it?s always just been one color. My stylist gave me highlights on my hair?s roots so that I?d look ?more refreshed? as they say. I actually like it. My girlfriend said it brings out my eyes. If she likes it, then I like it too. Plus, their team of stylists were just the best. Such nice people. more

I get my lips, chin, and brows done every month at Salon Monaco. They use all-natural products which do good things for my skin. Their Spa Caf? services are for both men and women which is great because you can bring your boyfriend or husband for some couple R&R. The salon also has a line-up of permanent cosmetic treatments such as eyebrows, eyeliners, and beauty marks. The team is well-trained and professional. I?ve been a regular for 5 years now. more

Salon Monaco has over 20 types of services that range from hair styling to spa treatments. These services are reasonably priced and are guaranteed done by trained professionals. Their list of color and highlight treatments are further subdivided into different categories like one-tone, two-tones, three-tones, lowlights, highlights, and color correction. Furthermore, the salon also provides gift certificates which you can personally design. Basic treatments like shampoo, haircuts, and blow dry are priced at $35 below, which is affordable in retrospect. more

I?ve always admired the loose wavy curls I see on the celebrities. It?s like they don?t try so hard to make their hair look nice. Salon Monaco gave me a special hair treatment that didn?t produce the type of tight curls that you see with a perm. I grew my hair out just for this hairstyle and I AM LOVING IT. My stylist listed a few hair products that will keep my waves intact. Best hair decision ever! more

Lisa is now 7 and she likes her hair a certain way. I felt a bit sad when my mommy hairstyling skills weren?t as impressive to her as it was when she was younger. I decided to take her to the salon with me for some girl bonding time plus she also needed a little trim. She LOVED the salon. She discovered her inner salon gal early on. They provide haircuts for kids under 12 and they did a good job at it (even though it was just a trim). More than anything, it was the experience in the salon that made that day so memorable. The thing I like most about Salon Monaco is their facilities. I?ve never seen the place disorganized or a-mess with hair. Their staff is also the most professional and warn group of stylists you?ll find anywhere in Tampa. They make you feel comfortable and they have a great selection of services that range from hair treatments to spa treats like waxing and facials. It?s the perfect weekend hang-out place for me and my closest friends. I?ve been a regular for 2 years now and not once have I been disappointed. more

I wanted pink hair. And so, I did. Their hair color bar had the Ticke Me Ink treatment and that?s exactly what I went for. Pink is not my favorite color but I like how it looks on me. I have very pale skin but my dark brown eyes seem lighter with pink hair. I?m keeping this for an entire year! more

After getting a keratin hair treatment, the stylist recommended I get a color correction treatment to refresh my look and to have a more ?harmonious? looking hair. I agreed and she gave me a full-head color correction. Now I?m a deeper type of blonde that?s similar to Jennifer Anniston?s hair color. I tried their signature Brazilian Keratin Treatment to repair my damaged hair since it?s been dyed and processed in so many ways I can?t keep track. The treatment took about 2 hours since I have long hair. They said it lasts for 4 months but my hair has been frizz free for 6 months now. I guess it all depends on your hair type. The process involved shampooing to prepare my hair for the treatment, then blow drying, then the application of the keratin product; and then they sealed it all with a flat iron. My hair is now all smooth and straight. Feels really nice. more

Short hair is normal for me. I?ve worn my hair short since college and I like it that way. It?s low maintenance and I don?t have to spend so much time styling it. Then my boyfriend said he sometimes wished I has longer hair. He says guys generally still like girls with longer hair. More feminine, I guess. They gave me shoulder-length extensions and they styled it for me too. Loose curls looked so flirty. The best about it is that it took no less than an hour to do everything. more

My nails have never been that much of a big deal for me. I keep them short and I rarely put nail polish on. I passed by Salon Monaco and saw checked out their list of services just out of curiosity. The next thing I knew, I was sitting down getting a French tip which I love!!! My nails are still short but they look so much neater and girly (I guess). I have very sparse and short lashes and they?ve never really bothered me. A little mascara does it for me. But then I noticed one of my friends? lashes and they were longer than usual. She told me they were extensions and I was just amazed. She went to Salon Monaco for them. They look so natural. I went to get my lash extensions on and I can?t stop batting my eyes now. I hired them for my wedding and the package I chose covered hair and make-up for myself, my mother; and make-up for my maid of honor and 3 bridesmaids. They brought complimentary wine which made the day all the more fun. They went to the hotel and took care of all of us and I honestly cried when I saw myself in the mirror. Everyone looked so nice and my mother never looked more happy and glowing. They gave me romantic curls and put fresh flowers in my hair. It was perfect and was exactly how I pictured myself on my wedding day. Needless to say my husband got so emotional during my walk down the aisle. He said I looked beautiful.
