BEWARE 10/1/2011

I wish I could rate this place less than one star. This place is horribly over priced, over sauced and the owner is a complete a-hole to boot. We ordered the High Maintenance, which on the menu does NOT include sauce. The roll came with sauce and when we asked the waiter if we could get the roll as it appeared on the menu, the owner said that we could have it if we paid for it and he asked us if we thought this was McDonalds. We were appalled at being treated this way. The waiter told us this isn't the first time something like this has happened and even went as far as to tell us about other sushi places to try in the area. Most places look to make their customers happy, not here. Needless to say we will not be going back to Sake Toro...ever. Piss poor prices, piss poor food, piss poor customer service. more

Mediocre food, crazy expensive prices and poor service. 7/1/2011

This place is terrible. I ordered 6 California rolls, 6 spicy tuna rolls and a grilled salmon, $43. Not the meal mind you, $18 for a palm sized grilled salmon steak and no sides. The sushi was very small, the meat inside was pureed but it all tasted ok. They brought out our plates one at a time over the course of 1.5 hours such that by the time they brought mine out, everyone at the the table was done and the waitress had picked their plates up. Of course had I known ordering just a piece of meat was going to cost me $18, I wouldn't have waited the 1.5 hours. more

Great location, mediocre food and lackluster service 4/30/2011

If you want sushi before catching an event at Frisco's Pizza Hut Park, this is an okay place to go. You'll spend less here on food than you will in the stadium. more

Beware of the LADY 12/22/2010

Food: Excellent. Fresh, tasty and amazing to the eye. SERVICE: horrible. I and my husband walked in around five to celebrate my birthday. The young male server was very quick even though the restaurant was nearly empty. I ordered a bottle of Sake, and although the bottle was not listed on the beverage menu, the server brought us the well-chilled bottle right away. Then, the older Asian lady walked in (the owner,) the waiter seemed to be explaining that we insisted on having the bottle. But the lady walked up to our table and took the bottle without even explaining why and, not to mention that she did so without an apology. Then, she yelled at the server in a different language. The waiter was nice enough to come back to our table to apologize and explain the situation, but I and my husband felt horrible that we got the nice guy in trouble. We will eventually return in the future because of the food food is fantastic, but the service from the owner was horrible. In the mean time, I'll stick to Kotta Sushi Lounge on Lebanon and Toll. more

Service refused due to large waiting party 11/7/2010

This is my first time to do this, but after 3 years of enjoying Sake Toro, spending good money during each visit, we were refused service and hurried out the door due to a large waiting party last night. more

Sake Toro is the best sushi north of 635. 4/11/2010

I swung by this place after a friend dragged me to Stonebriar mall in Frisco. This made my night! Their sushi is amazing! I had bonito sashimi and some stellar chef special rolls. This is worth circling that horrible ""Frisco Square"" to get a spot. In fact on my next visit i'll be willing to walk a bit to get there. Sake Toro kicks some serious ass people. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: Parking more

Great Sushi but service is lacking. 1/5/2010

The sushi has always been wonderful and the cocktails are great. The only issue I have is the service. It seems as if the sweet lady who is THE waitress, is completely overwhelmed. Pros: Sushi is fresh! Cons: Service isn't very good. more

Awesom sushi; Terrible service 1/4/2010

We have been to Sake Toro several several times and we repeatedly go back ONLY because the sushi is so awesome. Every single time we have been, the service is absolutely terrible. When you go, be prepared to wait a while to be acknowledged when you walk in the door. Then, when you finally do get seated, you won't know who your waitress is. There's about 3 that all seem take care of everyone and no one communicates. Just be prepared to wait forever to get drinks, appetizers or anything that doesn't come from the sushi bar. But, the sushi is so fresh and so amazingly good that's the only reason we go back. Pros: Freshest sushi around Cons: Awful service more

Delicious and Intriguing 6/23/2009

Went there with a friend. Waited 10 minutes to be aknowledged and sat :(. Already ticked off. Then We had to flag down a waitress 10 more minutes later to get out drinks. Then Had to flag em' down again to get our order. Waited 15 minutes for appetizers and 30 jus for our sushi. There were barely any people there by the way. But the food was soo delicious. I would go back but only in hopes that the wait wouldnt be as horrible. Maybe they were having an off day? Pros: Huge Variety of Sushi Cons: Horrible Service more

KC is an artist!!! 3/10/2009

There is simply no other way to put it, the sushi at Sake Toro is not only amaizing but truely creative and imaginative more

Best Kept Secret in Frisco 2/20/2009

I went to Sake Toro last night after reading the recommendations on City Search. I loved everything I tried. I always start with basics, avacodo roll and spicy tuna which were excellent. I had one of the special rolls and can't remember the name, it too was awesome. I will be back when I am in the Frisco area again. Pros: Excellent Rolls Cons: It is in Frisco and I live Downtwon more

LOVE SAKE TORO 2/10/2009

The fish is AMAZINGLY fresh but its the combo if the sushi and the great staff that keeps my husband and I coming back! The sushi rolls are never chincy on the fish and never smell fishy (lol). I know that any one that likes sushi will love this place! Pros: Great sushi, great staff Cons: it's pricey but worth every penny more

Fantastic Creations 1/8/2009

As any good ""foodie"" knows- if you have to add anything to your dish, then it wasn't prepared right. Sake Toro adhears to this golden rule so well that i never once had to touch my sushi to alter its flavor. When you first walk in, you will notice the beautiful shell covered sushi bar, as well as the funky fresh atmosphere. The music that they play creates an upbeat, funloving atmosphere. On to the food. This place has innovative creations which are not only asthetically pleasing, but pleasing to the pallet as well. I am very hard to please, much less impress, and I am raving about this place. I almost don't want to write a review because i don't want this place swarmed with people every time i try to go in. With fun playful names on dishes like ""What's my name"", ""Who's Your Daddy"", and ""Japanese Lasagna"", the Head Chef at Sake Toro has made wonderful, taste bud tantalizing twists on your every day sushi. Don't get me wrong, they do still have the traditional sushi as well for the fans of the classics. While i was there this last visit, I heard someone say that they loved smoked salmon, the chef made a suggestion for them to try a spectacular dish called the San Francisco Salmon. The person looked to be in absolute heaven when they were eating it, and they heartily complimented the chef. At that point I knew I was not the only one there enjoying my meal. To go with your meal, they have a full bar, as well as Hot and Cold Sake. It is obvious to me that this Chef really knows what he is doing, and he takes pride in the dishes that he creates. I will undoubtedly be back for more of this fantastic food. Pros: Excellent Food Cons: Parking-you will have to walk a little. more

Incredible Sushi 12/30/2008

I?m from Austin and frequented Tomo (on a weekly basis) where KC used to be Chef. He was missed when he left but we are grateful he stayed in TX and went north so we can enjoy amazing sushi near Dallas when we visit. The creativity and originality of KC?s sushi is unbelievable. The fish is fresh and the service is wonderful. NO SOY Sauce allowed should be written on the wall because the flavor combinations of sauces, spices and REAL wasabi are meant to be enjoyed without it. KC- great job on Sake Toro and thanks for making us so welcome. Pros: Great food, good people and awesome bar! more

AMAZING! 11/16/2008

This place is one of the best around. It's fun, fresh, and a great place to hang out. From the hosts to the service its amazing. It's a great place to go after a long day at work and have a drink or a place where you can go on a date. The food is fresh and made with perfection. I would recommend this place to everyone from family or to a girls night out. It's amazing. Pros: Food, Music, and Everything else. more

Amazing 11/13/2008

As a frequent patron of Japanese restaurants, I have to say this is the best one I have been to. I've dined at all the Japanese restaurants in Chicago, and eaten at many in Seattle and San Francisco, and none can compare to the overall experience that I had at Sake Toro! more

I love Sake Toro! 11/11/2008

I've been to tons sushi restaurants across the country, but nothing beats Sake Toro. I probably been there more than 10 times for lunch and dinner and the service and food is great. The chefs up at the bar are very nice and friendly and seem to really enjoy what they're doing. They always have very fresh sushi and sashimi. Pros: Fresh, Fresh, Fresh - Creatvie chef specials and Ambience more

Best sushi ever! 11/10/2008

Not only is this the best quality sushi I have ever eaten (frequent traveler), the value is incredible. I challenge you to find fresher fish for a better value anywhere in North Texas, or beyond. The lunch specials are ridiculously amazing (variety AND value). The atmosphere is friendly and upbeat. Executive Chef KC Choi has outdone himself with the creative specialty rolls and personal touches for each an every customer. He also has plenty for those not inclined to partake of the fresh fish, with his ""virgin sushi roll"" and menu full of variety. It's a wonderful place tucked into the heart of Frisco Square. I have business associates requesting Sake Toro for our business lunches! Pros: Freshest fish, wonderful atmosphere, friendly service, great value more
