I contacted Russo since I was having an issue with my heat. I had an morning appointment and they did not arrive to 2pm. I was told when I called to check on the plumber that due to the below zero weather their plumbers are moving at a slower pace than expected. I was annoyed and asked if they could give me a discount since they missed my appointment window. The person on the phone said she would have to check with a manager. After being on hold for over 5 minutes she came back with an attitude. I did not appreciate her tone and therefore gave them "1 star". The plumber fixed the problem pretty quickly -- it was a bad thermocoupling and got me up and running. I felt the price was fair. more

Harun came out to fix a leak in my mother's kitchen. He called first thing in the morning and arrived exactly when he said he would. He was friendly and quick. He was willing to explain everything he did and even (in my opinion) went a step beyond normal service to make sure we were satisfied. Now we have a new cold water valve and he also replace a section of copper pipe. Work complete and successful. We would definitely call him again. more

Bill P accurately diagnosed the problem and implemented the solution. He had all the parts he needed and did a very professional installation job. He left the work area neat and clean. When he was done he showed me how to operate the new valve he installed. Even though the work order only involved the installation of a new water valve and line, he took the time to check the connection of the new water line into the humidifier on the furnace, help me set the humidity control, and help install a new filter in the humidifier. I work for The Oxford Group in Morris Plains, NJ, we had a small hot water tank leak under our kitchen sink. We called one company but they could not come to our office for one week. I saw a Russo Bros. truck on my way to work, I emailed them and within 15 minutes Terry called me back and scheduled an appointment. Brian and Dario were sent to evaluate the job. Both Brian and Dario were courteous and knowledgeable...and they did not mind me asking questions. Our hot water heater was replaced and the kitchen was left spotless. I asked for business cards to distribute to the other tenants in my building because I thought that Brian and Dario did an excellent job of representing the Russo Bros. & Co. more

Our water heater finally went after 16 years. We placed an emergency call to Russo and within 2 hours they had dispatched a technician. Phil B. was extremely knowledgeable and professional. He told us about all of the options available and provided a reasonable quote. He and another technician installed our new water heater in just a few hours! more

$956 for a $88 part and less than an hour labor! I had Russo Bros. & Co. come out for service for intermittent heat and they charged a $150 diagnostic fee. It was a warm day and the technician was time constrained and their opinion was there was no issue but assured me if there was any issue, Russo Bros. & Co. would come back and waive the diagnostic fee. Shortest version, it was a warm month and it is a area of the house not used every day, about a month later we turned on the heat and it didn’t work so I called Russo Bros. & Co.. They were not very pleasant about informing me I’d need to pay another diagnostic fee, even though I agreed if I didn’t have them do any work I’d pay it. Even though they answer the phone “it’s a great day at Russo Brothers”, they were mean-spirited and argumentative about collecting their fee. Russo Bros. & Co. sent a Service Manager who apologized and said they would waive the diagnostic fee, it was a misunderstanding and requested I take down a yelp review. They replaced a circulator pump. What prompted the re-review for prospective customers is that they charged me $956 for the circulator. The circulator pump has a list price of $157 and sells on amazon for $88. https://amzn.to/2S8lN8I My system has individual shut-offs for each pump, plenty of space to work and the Service Manager was in my basement less than an hour. For those interested, a search for “cost to replace circulator pump on boiler” on Angie’s list a full repair including labor ranges between $200 and $550, this was the highest range I could find, and their assumptions even use same Taco-brand pump. https://bit.ly/2T58dmB https://bit.ly/2LsU1RE I understood I was paying a premium with Russo Bros. & Co, but as other reviews note I believe they gouged me on price, in my specific case and giving them the benefit of the doubt, they overcharged me more than 42%. We requested Russo Bros to undertake maintenance on our boiler. It was a great pleasure to learn that Nick would be coming out to do the work. We have worked with Nick and Russo Bros in our old house a couple of years back and were really appreciative of Nick's openness and competence. Nick still retains his boyish charm and attended to the boiler maintenance and showed us pictures of the aging and wear and tear on the thermocouple and recommended replacing it. We had no hesitation in asking him to replace it. Taking advantage of Nick's presence, we asked him if he could also look at our sump pump that was installed by Russo Bros last year. Since the sump pump is an a tight crawl space, it is not easy to access and Nick crawled in there and assured us that the sump pump was working just fine - a relief. more
