What sold me was the staff. The woman I was working with listened to me and was patient with the dogs who had never been boarded before.

Worst

Terrible! Every time we sent our dog here he came home with hot spots. The last straw was when our dog came home with a bite on his ear and a gash under his neck. My vet bill was ...

The staff is exceptionally nice and accomodating. We kept them there for as little as one night to a little over a week when we went on our honeymoon. They gave them baths before we came home, It was so nice. more

Terrible! Every time we sent our dog here he came home with hot spots. The last straw was when our dog came home with a bite on his ear and a gash under his neck. My vet bill was 300 dollars. When I called to let them know and inquire about what happened I was told they would look into it and call me back. Of course no one called me back. I expected at least a phone call to see how my dog was doing. To me this shows a complete lack of class. I will never send my dog here again. more

Dogs loved it 12/31/2010

i have never taken a dog to a kennel,always had house sitters so I was very worried about taking two of the three rescues to a kennel while we were out of town. The were gentle and slow with the dogs when we arrived, and the dogs seemed happy when we picked them up. What really told me they were happy was when I took them back for a day visit my 80 pound boxer mix ,who is madly in love with me, tried to get out of a sightly opened car window to get into the water bowl asap and wanted nothing to do with me! He pulled me into the building and just wanted to play. We highly recommend the water bowl. more

Bad Experience 11/16/2010

We have boarded our dog at Ruffner's before and the stay was good. However, the last time we boarded her there we used their grooming service. Her tongue was cut during grooming and the groomer was very upset and apologetic. But, when we picked her up the person at the desk only offered to pay our vet bill, which was not needed. \r \r You would think they would offer free grooming due to the incident, but instead talked about how my dog should be sediated when groomed. She has never had any past issues with other groomers and I left there in shock not knowing what to say or to say they should take off the charge. So I will never use this place again nor will I recommend it. more

My experience 2/3/2010

We have used Ruffners a couple of times in the past and had no issues, until this last stay. I boarded both of my dogs there for 5 days. When we picked them up the girl at the desk told us that one of our dogs had gotten injured during some "rough play" with another dog the previous day but they had looked it over, cleaned it up and that she was fine. I looked at it and it didn't seem to be an issue. 2 days later her eye is nearly swollen shut and definitely infected. She wound up with an 1 1/2" gash that required 5 staples to close. Ruffners was apologetic but I was reminded that "dogs in day care can get hurt" and that I had "signed a waiver when I brought them in".\r \r Use them knowing that they won't be responsible if your dog gets hurt in their care. I won't be going back more
