Chicken n Waffles, Chicken n Waffles, Chicken n Waffles 1/19/2010

Every once in while, you just need some chicken and waffles and there is no better place then Roscoe's. I went this past Sunday, it was pouring rain and it was packed! Service is nothing special, they are all nice, and food is comes relatively quick. I like to go to this location about once every 6 months. Pros: Chicken n Waffles more

I've been to this location many times, and will continue to go back; I love Roscoes. But this location has a serious issue with flies. A couple of times I've completely lost my appetite and had to kick back and enjoy good conversation instead. Kudos to Roscoes for having some dope food...but boo on the flies. Pros: Yummy chicken Cons: Flies...flying around more

Nothin like some Roscoes! 12/8/2008

Even Snoop Dogg approves!!! this place has great waffles and chicken! So good that snoop even rants and raves over it in his reality show. Its a chill atmosphere where you can see a large diversity of people enjoying some good ol chicken n waffles. (they have other stuff of course ; ) ) more

MUST EAT 12/4/2008

One of the best mom and pop resturants in all of california. If you never thought this combo would go good together, then you are completely wrong. Chicken, waffles, orange soda..... a dream come true..... recommended visit.... Pros: thumbs up more

Willing to forgo the diet temporarily for this 7/29/2008

Unorthodox food combinations prove to be popular, yummy, and a culinary gold-mine here where fried chicken and waffles seems to make as much sense as spaghetti and meatballs, or hamburgers and french fries. I wouldn't attempt copying this combo at home, but I sure would schlep to LA to cut the calorie consience guilt out for a a day. more

Best breakfast spot in the city of angels 5/12/2008

I love Roscoe's chicken & waffles for their good food. My favorite is the #3 with 1waffle and 2pieces of chicken a breast and a wing. The ambience and atmosphere is very family friendly. Pros: Sometimes very crowded but worth the wait. Cons: Small parking area. more

Go to this place with expandable pants!!! 3/22/2008

Roscoes was very very delicious, but I do have to warn you that if you go hear make sure you go in pj pants or something like that, because I have never felt SO full after a meal in my entire life. I of course got the famous combo of chicken and waffles and gravy which I didn't think would go together at all, but IT DID and IT WAS SO TASTY for bad for your food ha. Definitely an experience everyone must have, but make sure you get the actual chicken and waffles! That's what made it famous anyway! Oh ya and they sell trucker hats too there ha ha Pros: fun outing for a group, and LOTS and LOTS of food Cons: i didn't wear big enough pants more

the Itis 2/19/2008

So good, after eating you'll suffer from ""the itis"" I never thought chicken and waffles could be so good together Pros: The Itis Cons: The Itis more

Fantastic fried chicken 2/7/2008

We made our first visit to Roscoe's and will definitely be back. The fried chicken is excellent (get the dark meat)--tender, flavorful, crispy, and just a bit peppery. Good waffles--none of that cardboardy Belgian waffle nonsense going on here. These are hearty, dense, and delicious. Get a side dish of the macaroni and cheese, which is also a winner. Our service was excellent, although some tables nearby seemed to be having some trouble getting the server's attention. It's probably best to be a little patient if you're going to go, but the food is worth the wait. Pros: parking lot Cons: strange lighting inside more

NOT RECOMMENDED, TRY KFC INSTEAD! 12/22/2007

I ate at Roscoe's on 12/21/07 because I recalled that I may have heard good things about this restaurant's Southern Cuisine. Well, their customer's apparently aren't very demanding. Yes, I like fried chicken and I also love waffles, and although I have never tried that combo before, I can see where they might go together. We'll, first off, I was a bit surprised to see that their menu prices are rather high, based on the plates offered. Soft drinks run close to $3 and they don't provide free refills. The water they serve is apparently non-filtered city water and provides their guests with a metalic taste. Now for my meal. I ordered a 1/4 fried chicken which turned out to be a thigh and a leg, with two large waffles. The price was around $8 - $9! A $4.80 side of salad, which I asked to be served first, was served only moments before the hot course (chicken & waffles) arrived. Guess she took me literally. I like to enjoy my salad before receiving my hot meal, but this didn't happen. I decided not mention this to the server. While I was eating, I realized that KFC, although a litter greasier, would have saved me around $12 on my meal and would have pleased me just as much as the chicken at Roscoe's! The physicial atmosphere is that of a old free standing building which is shotty in appearance, and a trip to their restroom to wash my hands revealed quite a mess. I also noted that one of their kitchen employees walked out of the restroom without washing his hands. The staff is very friendly and they seem to have a good customer base during the dinner hour. They told me they stay open until 2:00 AM on the Friday evening which I was there. The bottom line is that I won't return because their food is overpriced and unless you are not very demanding, this would not be a good restaurant venue to take a date or to expect above average food quality. I don't mind spending $20 per person for dinner, but at the very least, I do expect much better food quailty. more

Best Soul food 11/24/2007

wonderful service & really fast! Me and my family went on a sunday, it was really crowded but we got a table within 3 minutes and after ordering our food came in 10min and everything tasted really good and nothing compared to fast food. Just liek grandmother used to make! Pros: parking, service, food more

haven't been in a while 9/28/2007

I haven't been to roscoes in a while- but when i'm in the mood for it-i'll jump at it. I remember the parking at this location being really REALLY bad. I should go again so I have more to report! more

I love this place! 6/12/2007

Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles is an LA institution and anyone who claims to be a local has to eat here before they actually are one. I have been here several times with friends and every time the food is great and the atmosphere is entertaining. If it is your first time at Roscoe's, you need to order one of the chicken and waffle combos. Cut the chicken and waffles up into little pieces. Take a piece of each and dunk them in the maple syrup. It sounds a little weird but it is incredible! Trust me. Pros: The food Cons: Limited parking, Popular so there is sometimes a wait more

a great combo! 3/20/2007

I'm not a really big fan of fried chicken, so the idea of coming to this restaurant was not too appealing to me. Plus, I thought chicken and waffles would be a strange combination. But when I came here, I was pleasantly surprised... The saltiness of the chicken and the sweetness of the waffles complimented each other really well. I also loved their iced tea/lemonade/fruity hybrid drinks! However, I would only recommend going here if you're craving something thick and heavy. Pros: good prices, comfort food Cons: long wait more

Savory Comfort Food 11/24/2006

There's a reason why this place is usually full and has a small line to get in. This is one place where you're guaranteed to be satisfied. The food is excellent and mmm so tasty, my mouth waters as I write this review. The waffles are the best I've ever tasted and the mac and cheese is down right good homemade cooking. This place is like going home to grandma's southern kitchen. The staff is wonderful, but the space is a little cramp. I warn you this is the kind of food one should only eat every couple of months, for it's not exactly health conscience, but certainly well worth it. Pros: Food and staff Cons: fatty food and crowded more

Who would have thought chicken & waffles go great together? 11/2/2006

Definitely great comfort food. We come here for late night meals or even for breakfast. The chicken is amazing and a perfect compliment to waffles. The syrup is also to die for! It gets pretty crowded at night, so come early or be prepared to wait. I look forward to comfort food at Roscoe's! Yum! Pros: Great food, value, late night dining Cons: Parking, Crowded more

This isn't a guilty pleasure, it's just a straight up pleasure! 10/30/2006

This is a place to take skeptical ""Los Angeles has no charm"" out of towners, ""Chicken AND waffles?!"" they will declare, as you drag them kicking and screaming into the restaurant. After the meal, they will sign over their first born to you. I usually just get the Carol's special, which is a waffle and a chicken breast, perfect for a modest eater (although a chicken breast at this place is pretty gargantuan). The sides are all worthy, like the sausage patties drenched in gravy, or a huge slab of cornbread slathered in butter. Do not take dieters here. Those people are no fun anyhow. Pros: Eating like an American Cons: Sticky fingers more
