Editorial review from Citysearch 12/26/2013

BS! I ordered 550 dollars worth of stuff they got their money and I got no parts or info on my order now they don't even answer phone. Now have to claim with bank to get money back. Wouldn't recommend buying anything from these bozos. more

What a Joke 12/24/2011

Yeah real nice people when you are purchasing their product but after you purchase and have issues with their product, they don't want to talk to you. I received a rear bumper that looked to be made in someones garage. It didn't line up, had to cut some of my body to get it t fit and found out later from a local shop that it was built at an angle which caused all my issues. RRO stated that my rig was tweaked. Never has my rig been off road and was purchased new. I wanted to ship it back and they stated I had to pay for shipping until they can determine it was their fault... It was clearly their fault as the angles were way off. They quit responding to my emails. more

Jeep lift kit 8/9/2011

Have not written a review before. But after reading a couple of them here, I felt the need to review my experience.\r \r I have a CJ7 and wanted to do a spring over lift kit for it for years. Anything I turned up just looked like junk, or was incomplete. I emailed this company and they responded very fast. The guy I emailed with was super knoewledgeable about Jeeps in general, this kit, had some good ideas and recommendations. It was really a change from the other 4WD stores who didn't care about me at all.\r \r They answered my emails for about 2 weeks while I figured all this stuff out. Then I ordered a spring over kit with a conversion to the Wrangler springs. They said it would take a couple weeks to ship which is OK. I wanted quality over speed.\r \r Parts came as promised. Instructions made it look easy. So I did this over a weekend at my apartment. The change in my Jeep was just astounding! So comfortable to drive now. So much better than the CJ springs always were. And I run 35"" tires now which lets me drive on any trail I want.\r \r I really need to tell everyone how great these guys were and how helpful. I would say their customer service is better than anything I have had before with internet Jeep companies. \r \r Rocky Road, I am telling everyone how great you guys were to work with and all the personal time you gave me to help me decide on my Jeep. Thanks so much! more

The run-around... 5/13/2010

It is not good business when you call someone (especially someone who you paid for their product services) and you cant help but feel that you are ruining their day by being the worlds biggest inconvenience by asking a simple question of "" Just wondering if you could please tell me the status of my order placed 3 weeks ago""? When they put you on hold and never return, or tell you they will call you back and never do. The best is all the excuses you receive when you do get a hold of someone willing to grace you with their time. Like someone said before; save the time and hassle and deal with Petroworks, Spidertrax or Calmini. They have excellent customer service and reasonable shipping. Pros: Good parts from what I hear... Cons: Customer service and business ethic. more

worst place to buy 2/6/2010

This was the worst place to order from in my experience. Horrible customer service! Over charged me and left me out $500 bucks because now I can't return the rims I bought for my samurai that was the wrong bolt pattern. I even spoke on the phone with one of techs before I placed the order! I order close to $1000 worth of your products and this is what I get? I've ordered from various places and have had much more pleasurable experiences. Calmini, trail gear and other places incuding ebay was much better in every aspect. NEVER ORDER FROM HERE!!!! Pros: nothing Cons: everything about my experience more

my happy lift kit 8/5/2009

I have ordered 4x4 parts online only a couple times. I have to say that the other times ended up being a bust. Rocky Road Outfitters tho I cannot say enough about. They took an unbelievable amount of time to help me figure out the best suspension. I really don't think I've had more help buying anything, ever, much less a lift kit! I just want to let all my friends and everyone know that these guys really are the best on the web. Big thanks to Glenn and Charlie! Pros: great customer service Cons: need to do more parts for my ride more

Good Jeep store 7/24/2009

Charlie took a lot of time to help me with my questions. Like hundreds of them. No one else did. I got my lift, installed it by myself which is a miracle since I have no experience. Love my Jeep more than ever. I'm going to buy more stuff from Rocky Road when I get some money. Pros: Great customer service Cons: Took a week to get my lift more

Best 4x4 shop I have found 3/9/2009

Only 4x4 shop that ever took any time to help me out with all my questions. Parts did take a couple weeks to arrive, but well worth it. The best should take a little longer. The lift and rock sliders for my Toyota are the best. I can't say enough good about how smart and friendly these guys are. I want more stuff! Pros: Best engineered parts and best service. Cons: It will take a week or two more

I Love my JEEP! 1/22/2009

Thumbs up to Rocky Road Outfitters. My XJ rides and handles great thanks to their 5"" lift kit. I have 265/75/16 tires and really love the Jeep. Don't do much offroading, this is my daily ride. Rocky Road is the best 4x4 shop out there, they took the time to answer my dozens of email questions. Most shops just ignore you if you are not buying in the first minute you call or email. Rocky Road really cares about making sure you are buying the best setup for your needs and that you understand everything that goes into the kit. I wish all 4x4 shops took as good of care of their customers as Rocky Road. Pros: Best customer service I have ever had from a Jeep store Cons: Wish they carried more more

Highly recommended 12/22/2008

Best customer service in the 4x4 world. \r \r They answered all my questions and the parts got here faster than expected. I'm really pleased with my Jeep now. Thanks to all the guys at Rocky Road for really taking the time to help me out. Haven't found that level of service with any other offroad shop out there. Way to go! Pros: informative, great customer service more

These guys are THE BEST! 12/7/2008

I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about. My Jeep Spring Over and OTT High Steer kit did take a couple weeks to arrive, but when I order steak... I don't expect it to arrive in 2 minutes.\r \r What I mean is that the engineering and manufacturing quality of this system is the very best I have seen anywhere. It installed very easily. I really appreciate their attention to detail and it came with everything I needed for my installation. I couldn't be happier with my purchase and how my Jeep performs now.\r \r I am now a loyal Rocky Road customer and have recommended them to all my friends, who have also had great experiences and praise for their products as well. \r \r I really appreciate that Glenn Wakefield who owns the shop takes the time to answer all my emails personally. How often do you see that anymore? Everyone else just points to FAQs or just ignores my emails. Glenn really does a great job making sure all your questions are answered.\r \r Anyways, KUDOS to Glenn and the guys at Rocky Road. Offroading would be much safer and better if every company provided this same level of quality engineering and customer service.\r \r You guys ROCK! Pros: Great quality, engineering, customer support. Cons: They need to make more parts! more

OK parts - TERRIBLE work ethics & customer service 6/17/2008

Geez, where do I start? Took over a month to receive SOA/OTT kit for a CJ7. Gave me one runaround excuse after another. Blatantly lied to me about shipping dates. Bought a diff guard from them on eBay - that turned into a huge mess as well. I had to dispute the purchase with PayPal for a refund. I finally got the SOA/OTT after many phone call and emails and three seperate shipments just to discover that I have to modify the rear spring purchases to work with my CJ. They take a few shortcuts as well such as brake line extensions instead of extended lines and you have to reuse the rear spring plates as well.\r \r I'll be polite - terrible experience all the way around! And they did little to nothing to keep my business. And all of this after having spent $1600!! Do yourself a favor, invest your hard earned cash elsewhere, that is, unless you enjoy headaches and aggravation. There are lots of alternatives.\r - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -\r UPDATE:\r If you do a seller search on eBay you'll see they've made their feedback private - you can no longer see all their negative feedback and their subsequent terrible reputation. They've also opened a new eBay account: rockyroadoutfitters_4x4. They've started over with 0 feedback and, of course, this feedback has not been made private. Just another way for Glenn Wakefield to dodge responsibility, accountability and to deceive customers. You've been warned.... Cons: Terrible work ethics, not truthful, misleading more

Poor customer service. Avoid! 6/4/2007

Not a well run business. Slow to ship and sent defective part, which I had to replace myself as a warranty claim, even though Rocky Road shipped the part broken. Hard to imagine how a place like this stays in business. Pros: Got most of the order right. Cons: Took a long time to ship and sent a defective part. more
