Unfortunately I can't be real positive about these folks either. I brought them my dead Lawnboy 2 cycle mower, told them that I had already diagnosed an ignition problem and also told them it was likely a bad coil. A week later they called back and said it would be at least $150 to fix it on top of the initial evaluation fee I gave them ( I think it was $35 dollars). It did not make sense to me to put $185 into an eight year old mower that I could probably replace new for around $300. So I picked the mower back up from them. It also didn't make sense to me to throw away a perfectly good mower that probably only needed a coil. So I ordered a new coil for about $35 and installed it and gapped it, about a 15 minute job start to finish. The mower ran fine. I really think by quoting a relatively high price for a pretty simple repair, they were hoping I would junk the mower and buy a new one from them. more

HORRIBLE BUSINESS!! NEVER CALL OR GO!! 8/26/2010

GET THIS STRAIGHT: NEVER EVER CALL THIS PLACE, PATRONIZE IT, OR EVEN DRIVE PAST IT! HORRIBLE BUSINESS! We were dumb enough to buy an extended warranty from Lowe's on our Troy-Bilt Pony riding lawnmower. They elected Rick's as the place to handle repairs. The first time took them week after week of waiting. They kept saying ""we're backed up""--a lie, one star ratings online do not ""back you up"". Just got it back today for a thrown belt problem and it took 2.5 weeks with more ""we're backed up!"" lies. Check the other ratings. You will hear about people getting their stuff back in WORSE condition than when they took it in. Shame on me, went to mow the lawn and the whole thing vibrated like mad and even bogged down on turns and spewed burnt oil/rubber smoke from the chassis. Getting ready to ball the f*&^ out of the general manager of the local Lowe's. more

NOT PROFESSIONAL/POOR RESULTS 5/28/2010

Took mower in for a clanking noise but otherwise running ok. Was told the crankshaft was bent and it needed a new motor as the repair was to costly. Waited in line for too long both visits. Desk person read from a sheet what was wrong--no tech in sight. I was unhappy because I did not get to discuss the mower with the tech. Brought the mower home and now it has no clanking noise but it doesn't want to start and when it does it backfires terribly. I am unhappy because I paid the 25 dollars to have it looked at and I feel they did not put the mower back together and return it to me the way i took it in. Now it won't start right or run. We had arranged for another place to fix it for 1/2 the cost but now the whole situation has changed. I'M CONFUSED!!!! I figured it would be just to much arguing with them to take it back in and demand they put it back together RIGHT the way i took it in. Pros: location Cons: POOR OUTCOME more

Rude and uncaring about customers 5/15/2009

When my mower was serviced $266 and did not work properly called Rick and he said probably needed gears or new transmission. This is not an old mower. An expensive Arien's mower. I told him thought it just needed an adjustment and didn't they check the mowers before giving them back to their customers. Jay their mechanic accused me of messing the mower up which I did not like as I am an honest person. The mower was not working as soon as I rolled it out of my garage. The wheels would not turn. Jay did something to the mower and now it is working but he was very rude and told me to not come back. I told them that I was not going to spend a lot more money would be cheaper to buy a new mower and since they now sell Toro's expect that is what they want. I did not buy my mower at Rick's bought it at BS Lawn and Garden. Was left holding on the phone numerous times for long periods. In the past the mower has run good when they worked on it. They were very nice in the beginning not sure what is going on with them now. Good luck to all you foks that buy or do business with this place. Pros: no stars but no place for that Cons: Rude to customer and not sure about quality of work more
