Best

This is the best Italian restaurant in town. While eating dessert, I died and went to canoli heaven .

Worst

I LOVE italian food and have eaten in many restaurants. We've just moved to the Phoenix area and I was excited about going to Riazzi's because they have received nice reviews and...

I went to college in walking distance 6/6/2012

I went to college in walking distance from Little Italy in Cleveland, OH and was sad to find that AZ had so few Italian restaurants! I was thrilled to find Riazzi's. All I ever get here is pasta, meatballs, and red sauce and they are delicious - just what I got used to in Little Italy. more

I like to go here for special occasions 5/29/2012

I like to go here for special occasions with my honey.I LOVE THE PESTO WITH CREAM SAUCE TORTELLONI! It was the first thing I tried and now that's all I order. My honey gets the chicken diablo . Our Kids got the pizza but they thought it ""tasted funny"" - it did not taste like take out, they are kids, what do you want. So, we go there for an evening alone or with friends. more

its italian 1/15/2012

Good food but you have to pay the price of slow and poor service. some places have been around so long they forget they have to please the customer, not just throw good food out there. more

Just So So 4/27/2011

I am not going to say disappointing ever because some things are very good here but the Alfredo is runny and the pasta is overcooked. I tried this twice so it wasn't a fluke. more

Very authentic 8/11/2010

Excellent Italian food. I've been to Italy many times and this place is very authentic, except in Italy, the cook would be smoking cigarettes while preparing the meals. Great food and great staff that works there. more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! 5/30/2010

My boyfriend and I wanted to try something new so we went here. First of all we were not greeted as we walked in and the hostess was very impolite she made it seem as if we were a bother to her. We waited 45 minutes to be seated after being told it would take 20. When we got seated our server greeted us after about 5 minutes and put our drink order in. 10 minutes later we had them. Half an hour went by before we saw our server again. It took at least another 45 minutes for our food to come out. The entire time we were there we had no refills on our drink and our server NEVER checked on us. I was quite angry by the time we got our food and the manager could see that we were unhappy but hurried by so he wouldn't have to bother with resolving any issue. We got our food boxed up before eating any of it as we had been there a good 2 hours. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone! I know I will never go back. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED! Pros: conveniently located. Cons: All around customer service. more

Great food and a wonderful family 1/4/2010

I'll admit it, I am biased. I worked as a cook at Riazzi's (and hosted sporadically) for almost 8 years. I STILL LOVE THE FOOD. Still. I haven't worked there for almost 4 years, and I go back regularly to chat with my second family and get my fix. This place is special, with special people. Yes, I know, I have had to wait for my food or drinks for longer than at a chain restaurant, but I feel it is worth it for the care and warmth I have always felt here (even pre-employee). And you know what, if you have a problem with anything, ask nicely, they will fix it! Pros: Too many to list Cons: Lunch can be fast and furious--can be a wait more

want Italian?? Here it is.... 2/13/2009

I skimmed over the reviews thus far and can't understand for the life of me why anyone would give this restaurant a negative review......so what the food took a little loger.....I personally don't like recieving my entree back to back with the apps.......do you.....I'm not in any rush.......not here anyway. I've eaten at Riazzi's a half a dozen or so times and I always get what I expect.....perfect Italian fare and from the quality of it and the price, it's easy to see why so many people love it. Great staff, perfect food, super price.......a pleasure every time I've been there....nuff' said. Pros: Parking......everything more

Highly recommend 11/17/2008

Great place for authentic Italian food. We go everytime we're in town. Only complaint is that we wish the food would be a little quicker. Very personable staff and great wine selection. Go for any pizza and you won't be disappointed. Pros: great pizza Cons: far drive, but worth it more

Great Italian food 11/13/2008

Riazzi's offer an extensive menu of pastas, seafood, chicken, pizza, and even steak. Their Antipasto Platter is scrumptious! They have a good wine list as well as a full bar. The service is excellent. more

Solid Italian 11/5/2008

This eatery has been around for quite a while. The food is basic with a solid value. All entrees include soup or salad. The bread is hard not to fill up on.\r \r Prices are extremely reasonable. Lunch is a very good value. This is one of the favorite lunch dining of ASU faculty and staff. more

Homemade Food, Fun Atmosphere 9/23/2008

Our family went here while we were passing through the Phoenix area. We sincerely enjoyed our experience. Our server was friendly and service was better than average. The best part was the food. It may not be authentic, but it was delicious. My mom and I both got the cheese ravioli and it was heavenly. We're still talking about it! Everyone enjoyed the meal. It was hearty and satisfying. Pros: cheese ravioli!!! more

The best italian restraunt in the valley by far! 9/18/2008

I was looking for a place to go with my family, when I suggested Riazzi's. I had never been their, but wanted to try it out because I had driven by and thought it looked like the best kept secret in town. The inside is very dark and they have booths for you to sit in. The atmosphere is quite nice for it is not loud. I ordered a salad with salmon on it. I was very impressed when it came out with an entire salmon. The other dish I remember was the seafood pasta my dad got. It is hard to find good seafood and pasta that is not from a franchise. I told my coworkers about the restaurant and several of them said I know what you are talking about I love that place. We also ordered very good wine as well that the waiter was able to recommend to us.\r -Brittany, Agency Producer at Jayson Hoffer Farmers Insurance in Mesa 480-518-0747 more

ho-hum 9/1/2008

I LOVE italian food and have eaten in many restaurants. We've just moved to the Phoenix area and I was excited about going to Riazzi's because they have received nice reviews and they are walking distance from our home. Unfortunately, I have found that their food is just average. Their menu is average and doesn't show much imagination. The food itself is average. Not bad, but not very good either. The floor was quite dirty, which did not make a good first impression. There is a very nice looking outside patio which was not being used at the time we were there. I did not feel that Riazzi's is a good value for the money. more

Avoid at all cost... 7/14/2008

After the bread and butter it was all down hill. Visited here with my friend who is a London Bobby as we were not looking for anything too lavish on our night on the town. Started our dining experience with an small anti-pasta salad for two. The dressing was sparse and the cheese and meat portion consisted of 2 amall slices of salami, 1 slice of cheese sliced from corner to corner and a couple of peporocinis (or whatever). Then came the minestroni soup which was bland and tastless. Better soups can be purchased in any super market. To top this dining experience off, we opted for the spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs. Another mistake. Ragu is a gourmet sauce compared to the sauce presented on the pasta. The meatballs also ranked up there right along with the other items. Cannot believe this place tries to present itself as an Italian Restaurant. Oh, the 1 star was given to the waitress who was personable and attentive! Pros: Beautiful interior Cons: Bad tastless food more

Hidden Gem...Best Italian in AZ we've had. 6/19/2008

We read they review on here this evening and decided to finally try it out. We had a wonderful time. The inside is spacious with booths and large tables. We are definitely bringing family when they visit. We started with the calamari. The last time we had this good of calamari was in Monterey, CA on the pier. The service was spectacular. Our waiter went out of his way to make sure we were happy with our meals. Even bringing out extra meatballs (on the house) when I asked if they were included with my pasta (I read the menu wrong though). Homemade cheese ravioli was delicious in their marinara. Definitely recommend the NY Cheesecake. Simple but perfect! Riazzi's is a must try non-chain Italian place in Tempe. Enjoy! more

Best Italian in PHX by far! 6/19/2008

I have been in Phoenix for two years now, I have been looking for an authentic Italian restaurant since the day I moved here, actually a couple months before I even moved here! I loved Maggiano's, I loved Arevaderci (Scottsdale) but last night my girlfriend and I decided to try this little hidden Italian place near Southern on Mill that we drove by all the time. Pros: Price, Portions, Taste, Atmosphere, LARGE selection of all dishes Cons: none that I can think of this time around more

Authentic Italian 3/1/2008

We've been going to Riazzis for over 20 years. Th pizza is amazing as is all their other dishes. Their antipasto salad is the perfect way to start a meal. I have never had a bad meal there. more

not so good anymore 7/20/2007

Years ago this was a place to get excellent food. On my last visit, I had close to the worse plate of pasta ever. There was virtually no tomato sauce on the spaghetti. I'm surprised my waiter did not notice this. more

Complacentcy.... 10/26/2006

This place used to be good, now it is just a former shell of what it used to be... The food was underwhelming and similar to what you could get at any other local Italian joint... Wait staff was OK, when they weren't talking to each other... So unless you live close and aren't looking for spectacular food I would try somewhere else.... Pros: They have a roof and AC... Cons: Boring.... more
