Thought I was the Only One 5/11/2009

I'm so sorry to have to read all the negative reviews about Renaissance Exteriors. I thought I was the only one! I contracted with RE in 2002 for vinyl siding and aluminum trim. It took them (two people) to below-zero winter to come to my house: one cut, one used a ladder. They were not qualified to work on an older home and had no respect for me or the job. It was done very badly and I had to call almost daily for close to a year to get people to come and look, to get someone to redo portions, etc. Caulking was very sloppy and was used to cover up mistakes. They were very quick, however, to collect the money. When I had new storm windows put on last year, the contractor couldn't believe the trim work and had trouble installing. Now, too, blisters and corrosion are appearing on the aluminum trim. This job caused me a lot of stress, anxiety and embarrassment. Whenever I think about the ordeal I get sick to my stomach!!! more

Any suggestions 1/27/2009

What a bad company. Worst 10 days and $12,000 spent in my life. Roof done in May of 08 and now Jan. 09 we have a leak. Frankly the worst experience with anyone ever. I doubt my 5 year guarantee warranty is any good. more

Frustrated! 11/4/2008

Angies List anyone, no complaints with the BB in MN, nationally recognized-Give me a break, I showed up on the day they were closing their shop off of 694 to show Ron that there is a face behind every message left regaarding our bay window that FELL OUT of the opening. We have been fighting with them since January 2008 for the bay window and many other issues inbetween, including a sliding door that makes and ice damn inside of out house!!! Please do not give up the fight we all need to stand together on these issues to make them accountable for their actions! Pros: ABSOLUTELY NONE more

Renaissance Exteriors, Stay out. 10/21/2008

SEVEN MONTH FOUR SEASON SUNROOM\r Verbal promises, procrastinations, misleading, \r We spent well over $40K for a four season sunroom, I have to admit it is beautiful, But we have had it almost a year.\r Last winter we finally got to use it after 4-5 months of Renaissance's procrastinations and promises. We put in a 30,000 BTU gas fire place to heat it which cost a fortune. A person could not sit by the sliding door because it was to cold. The sliding door track kept filling up with moisture and over flowing out onto the floor and frosting up on the inside. Just recently I found that there was a plastic piece that I thought was like a bumper but only to find out that it was there to cover up a gap on top and bottom of the slider and the stationary part of the door. This gaps was so big that I can stick TWO FINGERS through it to expose them to the outside. Now we have to try to deal with them on trying to get it replaced. This FOUR SEASON SUNROOM had a total of three inches of gaps that was covered up by a little piece of plastic that both fell off. This FOUR SEASON SUNROOM was built in 2007 with so called high E products, Now we have put 3M plastic on the outside of the sliding door and most likely close it off for the next 5 months.\r \r I would call it a spendy 2 season porch.\r \r Thanks Renaissance Exteriors\r I would never recommend you and I would discourage people. Pros: Contract Co. was good Cons: To much to mention more

Renaissance Exteriors is a sham 9/23/2008

DO NOT USE!!! THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT DO THE WORK!!! As other reviewers have mentioned, Renaissance Exteriors contractor license is currently suspended by the state of MN and has around 100 outstanding projects that have not been completed (mine is one of them). I had them replace my roof in May, which they did and it was fine. But then I signed a contract with them to replace the siding on my house. I paid the deposit of several thousand dollars and that's when things went south. There was delay after delay - supposedly their construction manager left or was fired or whatever and then they didn't have the crews to do the work. (Sounds like they weren't paying their people or ran out of cash.) Then they stopped answering their phone and returning my calls. It's now September and it's been 3 months and they still have my money, the work has not been done, and they won't return my calls. WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! This company should be shut down by the state. Pros: Absolutely none. Cons: They will take your money and run. They shouldn't still be in business. more

Worst customer service ever 9/11/2008

I would never recommend this company to anyone. They were great in the beginning and through installation. We have had these windows a year ($5,000 worth) and I went to open the window in my 2 yr old's bedroom and it came right off the track and into my arms! It came right out of the casing. It was a heavy window, I almost dropped it. I called them, thinking they would immediately fix it. The windows are SCHUCO windows..we love the other windows, but this one was either improperly installed or something broke. Now, 6 messages and no calls back, I am stuck with a window that doesn't work properly, and in fact, is hazardous. I am afraid my daughter will be injured. So now I have to find someone who can fix it! I have no idea who else carries these windows in my area. They have zero customer service. No one EVER answers the phone. What a crock. more

Renaissance Exteriors 8/22/2008

On May 8, 2008, we had a salesperson from Renaissance Exteriors in our home to see about a window replacement project. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and we ultimately signed a contract for a whole house window replacement. We secured a home equity loan and a man returned in a few days to measure the windows. Per agreement, we were to give the man the equity check and he in turn would give us a check from Renaissance for one-half the cost of the project until the job was completed. The windows were supposed to be in by June 22. After the 4th of July when I hadn't heard from Renaissance, I called to see what was going on. In fact, so far I have called 32 times and left messages. No one answers the phone, and no one calls back. I have called JEFF PATTISON, owner, RON SIMON, production manager, ANGIE SMITH, production dept., MATT ROSSETER, salesperson, a person by the name of BEN LARSON, someone by the name of MAKELA, I believe, who was the scheduler, and no call backs. I became more concerned, so I called the company operator and asked for the company financial officer. She connected me with MIKE FANNING. After hearing my complaint and concerns, he said he would call me back in 15 minutes. I am still waiting 24 days later. They have my money for the entire project, no one will contact me, and now, when I call I get a message that says, ""all circuits are busy. Please call back later."" The project is 2 months overdue and I am out a large sum of money. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NON-EXISTANT AND THEY DO NOT RETURN THE TRUST THAT YOU AS A CUSTOMER WOULD PUT IN THEM. They claim to be the fastest growing home improvement company in the Twin Cities. I doubt that there are that many idiots like me around here! Renaissance Exteriors business cards state that they comply with 8 critical remodeling characterist, number 4 being ""No delay communication process."" Don't you believe it! Pros: there aren't any Cons: an unreliable company all the way around more

Very unsatisfactolry customer service! 8/18/2008

We had a satisfactory experience earlier with the replacement of some 20 windows, but not so on this second project. We had six slider windows replaced in our Sun Porch and supposedly a Combination Storm Door. This seconed contract was dated on March 4, 2008 and we are still waiting August 18, 2008, for our Combination Door. For at least two months now, I have not even had the satisfaction of anyone,( NO ONE) returning myy numerous phone calls asking about our door and other adjustments that we need on the new windows. Because of their not even having the courtesy of a return phone call, I can not honestly recommend this company to others as we did in the past! Pros: Good Products Cons: poor customer service more

Salespeople promise, nobody delivers. 2/28/2008

We should have known after the salesperson ignored our request for just a quote & insisted on giving his spiel. We had done our research & didn't need to spend the time while our 1-yr-old son was crying. We told the company about this & they sent their cust. srvce mgr to try and meet our needs. The quote was competitive & we felt good about their product.\r \r My how things change after you sign a contract. They promised a 1.5-day project, and to match our existing trim style & configuration. To save time & money, I was to paint the trim, if they supplied it asap. They assured us it would be here the week after signing the contract. It arrived 3 weeks late, by which time they had the windows and wanted to install them. I spent many nights in a propane-heated garage priming & painting the boards (which were twice as many as needed) rushing to get ready. We asked for someone to verify that we had the correct lumber, which nobody bothered to do - they delivered more than was usable. They stripped our existing aprons for later return & me to paint.\r \r Day 1: they covered our things with plastic; put down drop cloths in the walkways. They removed all of our storm windows but replaced 1/2 of our old windows. Day 2: replaced other units & left everything roughed-in. Day 3: started on the trim, no drop cloths & some of the plastic covers disappeared. Note: we had a potential lead-paint issue (which they promised initially to consider, but took no appropriate action; even more concerning considering that my wife is pregnant and we have a 1-yr-old.) Day 4: finished the trim (no aprons), carpenter's mud over holes they created in drywall. Again no drop cloths and trailed mud through parts of the house, leaving dirty boot-prints in many rooms.\r \r Overall, the product appears to be quality; the install began well-enough, but ultimately bad customer service and lack of attention to detail (and common courtesy) have made this an experience I would not repeat. Pros: Quality product, willing to consider requests Cons: Lack of communication, attention to detail; no follow-up; overpromised timelines more

Good work, horrible follow-up and customer service. 11/14/2007

The good:\r Their installers and service people do excellent work.\r \r The bad:\r Management ... there isn't any. No one takes responsibility. No one orders replacement parts. No one calls with updates or delays. Nothing. They take your money and forget about you.\r \r The story:\r The windows showed up poorly without any protection for the hardware so 3/4 of it was full of scratches and dings. The installation went smoothly and the work was very well done. But this was April and now we're midway through November and still waiting for half of the damaged hardware to be replaced or completion paperwork, warranty, etc. I've lost track of the number of calls and emails I've made and all I get is the same excuse ""our office manager left, so your file fell through the cracks"".\r \r I can't recommend this unprofessional outfit until the managers get their act together. Shameful.\r Pros: Very capable installers. Cons: Horrible management. more
