Seattle Seafood! 8/10/2002

When out of town guests visit, I always take them to Ray's. Never been dissapointed. Pros: View, Atmosphere more

Greatly improved! 8/8/2002

Having eaten at every incarnation of Ray's Boathouse over its history, I had been disappointed a couple times over the past 3 or 4 years. The fish was always the best prepared in town, but the rest of the plate, especially the vegetables, left something to be desired. How pleased we were last night to take friends from the Midwest to Ray's on a beautiful evening to have a splendid dinner in every regard. The menu is greatly improved, and all the food was perfectly prepared and nicely presented. And, as always, the pace was relaxed, and we felt free to stay and talk and enjoy as long as we wanted. Hooray for Ray's! We'll be back often. more

Heaven Over Looking Water 7/23/2002

Ray's Boathouse on Shilshole is dining perfection with a fantastic view to boot. I have tried it all. There is a fun bar with great casual food. Try an order of mussels and a house salad-fantastic. Plus the service is friendly too. I once ordered food in the bar and then decided to move to the restaurant. Little did I know that the bar waitress was forced to walk back and forth from the bar to our table to serve us. Moreover, she did it with a smile. She got a great tip. Then their is the lovely down stairs dining room. You just can't miss here. It's a great place with heavenly food and three different atmospheres. Take your pick they all are great. Pros: easy parking, beautiful view, super food more

Good Crab Cocktail, but... 7/23/2002

The crab cocktail was very delicious, but I have to admit I was overall disappointed. Having grown up in Ballard, I was under the impression that Ray's was a must dining experience. It was okay, but the food was overpriced and the atmosphere was less than stellar. We sat in the middle of the dining room and it was horrible. I couldn't hear the person sitting next to me. The views were nice, but they probably would have been nicer upstairs. The food was way overpriced and tasted mediocre at best. Save yourself $100 and get the same quality food somewhere else. Pros: Good crab, Valet parking, Service Cons: Crowded, Loud, Expensive more

Everything was just right. 5/27/2002

My husband and I celebrated our 7th anniversary at Ray's last night. The service, ambiance, food quality, and staff were all wonderful. We spent $100 including tax and tip. We'd already had appetizers elsewhere and we don't drink alcohol, so our bill was probably considerably less than the average for one couple. Hubby had the rack of lamb, I had the Copper River king salmon. We took our time over dinner and ordered a slice of white chocolate cheesecake to go. Everything was delicious and the view was outstanding. I'm a real stickler for service, especially at these prices. Our server is named Phil, and he was helpful and discreet with perfect timing. I will likely return to Ray's again, for a special occasion. Pros: Service, View Cons: Expensive more
