The crab cocktail was very delicious, but I have to admit I was overall disappointed. Having grown up in Ballard, I was under the impression that Ray's was a must dining experienc...

fabulous view, iffy food 9/11/2002

the view is unbeatable, especially when the sun is setting and the day has been warm but you're now snuggled under a blanket with some appetizers and a drink in front of you on the outdoor balcony. however, every time i've gone for dinner, the food itself is mediocre at best, and the service is rather spotty. great place for view and drinks and a definite hit with visitors, but i'd go somewhere else to eat afterwards. Pros: incredible view, great bar area, good drinks Cons: mediocre food, spotty service, can be very crowded more

Ray's Boathouse is never a let down. Whether rain or shine, or cloudy and gray, or storming and windy or bright and sunny...it is always beautiful. The view is dramatic at times and always friendly. The food is good and reasonabley priced and the drinks are never watered down. Pros: Great View, Good Parking, Great View Cons: Crowded on a Saturday, Crowded during a game, Crowded on a Sunny da more

What a night! 9/8/2002

I had dinner with friends at Ray's celebrating the end of the summer & I have to say it was wonderful! The food was great, very fresh & not overdone in preparation. The winelist was awesome & we found some new favorites. The service was incredible! I am usually pretty high maintenance but I never had to ask for a thing! Not to mention the view...breathtaking! Good job Ray's, we'll be back not only next summer, but all year long!! Pros: great food & wine, superb service, incredible view more

Very impressed with the service!! 8/31/2002

I had a great dining experience at Ray's, from the food to the wine to the awesome service, everything was perfect. I was especially impressed with the wine manager who gave us the most amazing recomendations & really taught us a lot- which opened my eyes to a whole new world of food with different kinds of wine. Not at all intimidating, but very knowlegable. The crab was also out-of-this-world. I am urging everyone I know to give Ray's a whirl! Thanks a lot!! Pros: fresh, simple nw food, great winelist, fantastic wine mgr. Cons: a little wait more

Dungeness crabs here! 8/30/2002

Ray's is THE place to go for high quality seafood dinners. And they give good quantity for the price. We were only in Seattle for one night and I'm so glad we picked Rays for dinner! I love Dungeness crabs and at Ray's you can get them served in about 6 different ways! We shared the family platter and I especially enjoyed the black cod in sake kasu. I ended the meal with the unusual dessert of a port and chocolate tasting....yummy! And the service was simply spendid - quite a delight. Pros: service, quality of food, parking lot more

Seattle's BEST Winelist 8/28/2002

Ray's (suprisingly) has the city's BEST & most diverse wine list. The sommelier is fantastic, down-to-earth, & extremely knowlegable. I would go back for the wine experience alone. Nice job! Pros: wine!, wine!, wine! Cons: the bitchy hostess more
