The crab cocktail was very delicious, but I have to admit I was overall disappointed. Having grown up in Ballard, I was under the impression that Ray's was a must dining experienc...

One of the best places to eat in Seattle! 10/5/2005

Ray's is one of the best places to eat in Seattle - they have amazing seafood, an incredible view and some of best cocktails that are poured in the Puget Sound! The service is always top notch as well. I recently used their catering for a private event and was very impressed. If you come to Seattle, do not miss a chance to eat at Ray's. If you can't afford the restaurant try the Cafe upstairs - the view is just as beautiful and the deck is always lively. AND they serve the BEST MOJITO in Seattle! Pros: Quality of food, View, Service more

SEATTLE'S WORST FOOD WITH A VIEW. 9/11/2005

IF you like FOOD, don't go here. IT is one seattles' worst places to eat. Prices are ridiculously high for the quality offered, service offered by young people not really interested in serving, an uninspired menu with an uninspired chef. It is THE MOST over-rated places in seattle. It lives on it's view and long outdated reputation. GO for a beer at HAPPY HOUR. The view on a sunny day at sunset can't be beat but it shouldn't call itself a restaurant and SHAME on customers who eat here. Pros: view Cons: food, service, prices more

Best Seafood Bar in Seattle 8/20/2005

My wife and I enjoy eating lunch in a nice bar setting where we don't have to wait. Ray's is always no waiting, the bar staff is friendly and enjoyable and the view excellent. I can highly recommend the salmon skewers, the steamed clams and the sablefish entree, our favorites. It's also one of the few restaurants to offer Gewerztraminer (rather than simple Riesling) by the glass which makes it a favorite luncheon spot for us. The bartender. Adam, is a hoot and the host, Joey, frequently makes sure we get special treatment and free birthday lunches. If you have a Passport card, it's always two for one on the entrees. That makes it the best deal in Seattle. Pros: Service, Food, Wine more

Great and imaginative cuisine 8/17/2005

Overall a great place. I met the chef and felt very welcome by his warm and gracious manner. The waitstaff is however not well trained and even a bit rude. This seems to be typical in Seattle. Pros: Great food, Fresh unusual fish, Nice Chef Cons: Poor Service, rude waiters more

How Rude 8/1/2005

Normally we enjoy Ray's. However, as they have become more popular the wait staff has developed a shocking lack of professionalism. On Friday we added our name to the hour long wait list and our phone number. We had a toddler with us. When they called I let them know that we hadnt been able to wait an hour. The caller hung up on me without another word, cutting of my apology mid sentence. I realize they dont need my business to be successful, and Im not sure I could enjoy eating there again realizing how little the care for it. Pros: beautiful views, good food Cons: rude staff, long waits, terrible parking more

Delightful 7/22/2005

My husband mentioned we would be celebrating our anniversary when he made our reservation. From our waiter, who wished us a happy anniversary as soon as we sat down, to the stunning sunset view, to the delicious seafood, this was a first-rate experience. I had the crabcakes, my husband ordered the sake kasu, and both were excellent. For dessert try the chocolate chili souffle -- different, yummy, and spicy! The service was wonderful, too. Ray's was a great place to celebrate our anniversary, and we won't wait another year before our next visit Pros: Delicious seafood, View, Service Cons: Crowds more

My favorite view restaurant 3/4/2005

I do have to admit I have never eaten downstairs. I found the prices more reasonable in the cafe upstairs, and the deck is awesome! I think this is the best waterfront dining in Seattle, hands-down. If you have a visitor from out of town, want to have a leisurely lunch with your friends or impress a date, take them to Ray's! The food is always awesome and the service good. It is definitely worth the wait on a sunny day! Pros: VIEW, FOOD, CONVENIENCE/LOCATION Cons: CROWDED more
