Ravel Hotel, Trademark Collection by Wyndham

I would NOT recommend this place if you like good service and food! We went there on a Tuesday night expecting a nice and enjoyable meal but wound up regretting entire experience. First off since they were out of the crabcake appetizer (on a slow Tuesday?!) , we ordered the hot wings and duck rolls as appetizers. After a 45 minutes wait, our appetizers finally arrived - WITH the entree! The hot wings were bland and the duck rolls tasted like paper. The skirt steak I ordered as an entree was not good at all - you'd fare better at a chain restaurant. The mixed drink I ordered tasted like cough medicine. And you can't just blame the waitress for the horrible service! She was servicing 7 dinner tables and 2 lounge areas all by herself ! But as apologetic as she was, we left there disappointed, annoyed and just plain ol' let down. Pros: None, none, none Cons: Bad Service and Horrible Food more

We had dinner at the Ravel and I must say that the food was great! I had the slamon (that melted in my mouth!) and he had the steak, he said it was great. It did take a while 45 min to get the food and the attention to more drinks while we waited could have been better. But when we did get the food it was hot (thank God!) I do agree that the drinks are not the best, I think that they are using too much liquor. Anyway, that should be worked on. If they care, they will work to correct that. Especially if they are expecting to have partys there i.e. weddings. There is a server there (She wasn't our server) her name is Mickey (I hope I spelled it right) she's great! She was the most attentive and professional one there. She got our food b/c our servver was no where to be found. In terms of the table: There were bus boys (for lack of a better term) who were there to clean the table so we were happy about that. I think that this place has great potential. The managers need to address the reasonable concerns their patrons have brought to their attention. I am hoping to return very soon for a great meal and drinks and i hope to see positive changes in the restaurant. I have to disagree with the previous review I found the service of the staff to be fantastic. They were there whenever we needed to order something and were always super friendly. I find Penthouse 808 to be a bar with a beautiful view that overlooks the city and in the summer it's so relaxing to relax in the sun with friends. If you want a great bar in LIC this is the place to be! Pros: Great view of the city and fantastic drinks!! Cons: None more

Granted, we had a really large party (21 people), but we had a prix fixe menu, and we knew ahead of time that 20% gratuity would be included with such a large group. That gives no reason to not give, at best, minimal customer service. On more than one occasion, the server that was assigned to us mouthed off and back-talked to specific members of our party, at random, and only in response to us asking her about our food status - a pretty reasonable question, in my opinion. Incidentally, it took about 40 minutes to serve our appetizers, and they did not offer bread. The food was decent - very tasty and good portion sizes. Dessert was delicious. The actual restaurant is beautiful and the city view is amazing. But a nice dinner can so very easily be ruined by horrible customer service - let's just say it does not apply vice versa. If for some reason at a restaurant the food is only mediocre yet the service is superb, the service alone can elevate the experience that much more. Ravel's Rooftop staff has a lot to learn. i think the owner did a great job of opening this place in the worst location of NYC-located right next to most dangerous city housing projects on the east coast, this place boasts fantastic views of the local heroin methadone addiction clinic, con edison, and sewage treatment facility all in one! The bar itself looks like a makeshift greenhouse. The elevator to get up there is broken, so you will have to walk up the narrow, dark stairwell. The so called staff are among the rudest if not the rudest of people that you can find anywhere. The drinks are ridiculously overpriced and sub-par. $13 for beer? seriously....the bathroom goes against the NYC health code as it does not offer any toilets, only urinals- so ladies, make sure you pee before you get there. Overall, this place gets two flushes down, because after sampling the drinks, that's what you'll be doing all night long after vomiting. Pros: zero Cons: too many to list more

I recently stayed at this Ravel Hotel and thought it was a risk just because it wasn't in the city. THANK GOD I TOOK THAT RISK!!! I mean it was clearly a lower in price then the city, and the rooms where Gorgeous! I stayed and a room called the king superior if im not mistaken. This room was perfect in size the most comfortable bed i ever slept in (beside mines : ) The view off the balcony was incredible! the thing I found real unique was the sliding door bathroom! Also very luxurious touch was there shuttle. I had a great driver by the name of Gerald that took us to the metro station FREE OF CHARGE, you just go to the front desk sign up and your off. To get to the city simply took us 10 min. which is funny because if you stayed in the city before you know you have to take the metro everywhere anyway! When me and my girlfriend came back we had a beautiful romantic dinner on there city viewing ROOFTOP!!! enclosed in glass if anyone may think im crazy, it is heated. Great bartender by the name of Brian served us these blueberry mojito's that took my breath away! This hotel gets my 2 thumbs up and i have already recommended it to friends. GO THERE!!!! more

I was very dissapointed with Ravel. The staff is extremely RUDE.. The bartender did not know how to make sangria, it's supposed to be a signature of theirs. The drinks are super expensive and taste horrible. The view is great but would never ever go back.... more

I came here for a friends birthday around September (due to global warming the day was super nice!) and couldnt get over how nice the bouncers were, how great the dj was, and the VIEWS! the only thing i didnt like was that a jack and coke cost me $16! CRAZY! So now i know next time I'll bring a date ;-) Pros: the Views! Cons: Overpriced drinks! more
