Best

This place is by far my favorite place to go when I'm in the mood to eat great KABOB. A must have when your in the mood for REAL kabob and authentic sides. Not only am I impressed...

Worst

The appetizers are way too expensive. The Shirazi salad is not even flavorful with rough parsley in it. The portions of the meat are big, but it is too expensive. It is double ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/17/2014

Great kabobs! They even have the yogurt sauce which is hard to find at most restaurants for this nature. The portions are gigantic. Enough to share between two people. They even have a take out window so you can call ahead and take it to go. more

Absolutely amazing 6/5/2012

Absolutely amazing Persian/Mediterranean food. Get the Chicken Soltani, and you'll have enough food for *three* meals (I'm not kidding - I get this as take-out frequently, and it always lasts for at least three meals). Very generous portions. Fantastic, fresh ingredients - the chicken is so tender and moist, the rice is awesome and the hummus is spectacular (it's as good as my home made version - which is saying something). Nice environment, very open air (heating lamps are everywhere). I can't recommend it enough. more

Terrible service and no longer the best Persian food. 10/2/2011

I hadn't been at this place for a long time and now I know why. They have since expanded the seating area, but have kept the kitchen the same size and it became painfully clear to us that they had screwed up. We had to wait 20 minutes to order drinks while the wait staff ran around looking like headless chickens. Then we ordered and the food took forever to arrive. After 30 minutes I told the waiter that we've been waiting half an hour and that my young kid was very hungry. As if to not trust my word, he said, ""let me check when you've ordered you're food"". He looked at the POS and sure enough it was 30 minutes. He then offered the following excuse: ""well everyone is waiting a long time""! My response: ""not my problem, what's holding up the food? Can you ask the owner to come by"". His response: ""the owners have told them to say 'everyone has to wait' and they don't care of you're not happy"". He then scurried back to the kitchen and came back 5 minutes later promising the food would be there in 3 minutes. Well it showed up 10 minutes later. After 45 minutes of waiting, the plates of food were thrown in front of us causing chunks of meat and rice to fly into the air. Needless to say this place has developed a reputation which may have been justified a long time years ago, but now that they have struck it big and seem invincible they have turned into snobs who think they can get away with mediocre service and average food as long as people buy into the hype and don't know any better. I for one know of many other places around town that have the same if not better food with excellent service. And to add insult to injury, one of us almost got run over from behind by the overzealous valet they have hired. When we yelled him to stop, his response without an apology was: ""Why don't you look where you're going!"" Hmm. if only I had an extra pair of eyes in the back of my head... Bottom-line, this place needs an attitude adjustment and it begins with people waking up and smelling other better kabob places around town! more

The Best Persian Food 5/26/2011

Ok, I read some of the reviews and yes, the decor could be improved upon. But they have nice outdoor seating, which is great during the summer. So, aside from the decor, this restaurant is fantastic. It's got great tasting food. Like all restaurants, they give way too much food. Seriously, I don't need to have food for three people to think it's worthwhile. But the food tastes fantastic. I've had persian friends who regard Raffi's the best. I've been to a number of different Kabob places, and I have to agree. It's definitely worth trying and I would highly suggest driving a distance to give it a go. more

Great food but a bit pricey... 12/7/2010

I used to come to Raffi's and get their chicken kebob when I worked in the area a couple of years ago. Service isn't as friendly if you don't speak the language, but the chicken was always amazing. I can't say much for the other dishes since I always ordered the chicken. The outside patio seating is a huge plus and great escape from the office. more

Don't get the Shirazi Salad 6/7/2010

The appetizers are way too expensive. The Shirazi salad is not even flavorful with rough parsley in it. The portions of the meat are big, but it is too expensive. It is double the price of other places. On the weekends the food is better. If you order to go, you don't get as good or as much. Parking is horrible. The chairs and utensils need to go! Pros: Good Kebab only on weekends Cons: Parking, expensive, arrogant more

Typical Arrogance 7/6/2009

Like most ""authentic"" restaurants, this one was good several years ago when it was new and trying to impress. It didn't take long for this restaurant to rest on its laurels and forget about its partons. The quality of meat - the main dish at a Persian restaurant - has diminished and is now dry and rubbery without much flavor. But most important, that feeling of being welcomed by a host - a key ingredient in Persian culture as well as independent restaurant culture - has been replaced by a busy and careless arrogance. They don't care if you loved the food or not. They don't care about telling you that they don't take reservations but then save large tables for special guests while you sit and wait for thirty minutes. They don't care if their careless Valet staff dings up your car and then says ""Prove to me that it wasn't like that when you got here."" They just don't care. There are still independently run restaurants in LA where the owners care about their customers' comfort and satisfaction. Raffi's is no longer one of those places. Pros: Decent Appetizers Cons: Everthing Else more

Delicious Food 2/25/2009

Well for starters this is my first review to post. Pros: Ambience, Parking, Service, Great food. Cons: Only con is that I can't take my little puppies along like some other out door restaurants. ;( more

Amazing food 1/27/2009

Raffi's never lets us down. Their food is amazing and their portions are big. I highly recommend this place to anyone with a big appetite! Pros: ambience, food, quality more

Expensive for what you get..... 11/18/2008

Food is OK. It seems to be the closet to the kabob houses in Iran. Menu is simple and small. Side orders are very expensive. The decor is very poor. The plastic chares and tables need to go. The utensil?s need replacing and at times have food residue on them. Parking is horrible, especially for those with to-go orders. The owners on the other hand, very arrogant. It is a very expensive kabob house and some appreciation would be nice. Unfortunately no other kabob house like this one exists in Glendale so occasionally I order to-go from Raffi?s (they are lucky), otherwise I would avoid Raffi?s. In fairness I should also say that we always find ways to criticize but that?s how things get better and improve. Pros: Its in Glendale Cons: very expensive more

Pros: everythiing Cons: nine more

Avoid this place....arrogance served A La Carte 2/17/2008

It's one thing to be arrogant about your restaurant IF the food is good....but this place? I don't know what all you 4 and 5 star people think kebab is but this place isn't. Pros: Close to other stores in Glendale Downtown. Cons: Overpriced, over-hyped, poor service, no parking, rude owner, what else? more

Would definately recommend 1/24/2008

Awesome kebabs, friendly service 12/9/2007

Very tasty, great service, nice location. They have highered their prices recently and now they seem to be less busy, but the portions are large enough to share, so it is worth it. more

Great Kebob 7/27/2007

This is the place we always go to when no one can decide what they're in the mood for. It's a great place for large groups and family since it tends to get a bit noisy, but its still very cozy. Every table gets a plate of greenery which is exceptionally fresh and HEALTHY!! Prices aren't exactly cheap but you get what you pay for. Portions are big and filling! Some say the rice is bland because it doesn't have crazy ingredients mixed in but if you know middle eastern foods then you know this is exceptional rice (try making rice this way at home and you'll end up with sticky Chinese style rice-- no really give it a try!) So, in conclusion, if you want great tasting Persian-Armenian food this is the place for you to be! Pros: Food, atmosphere more

Average food in Glendale 7/8/2007

We went to Raffi's last night after seeing a movie in Glendale. Many people had recommended this place and it is the time of year to enjoy outdoor dining. It seemed promising, many tables were filled, the waiters were hopping and we were seated promptly. While the menu states that it is Armenian and Persian cuisine, I did not find much in the way of Iranian dishes. The greens and onion served at the start was nice. A saucer of hummus for $5 seemed a bit high. An appetizer platter could add to the menu. The kabob plates were large portions and a fair value for the price ($16). As the steak is thin, it is difficult to have the seak cooked to order. The rice was quite boring. Service was less that expected. Requests for drinks needed to be made twice. We had to wave at the waiter more than once to obtain his attention. But the biggest drawback was that the food was uniformly unremarkable. There are many other more interesting restaurants to try. Pros: Patio dining, child friendly Cons: Unremarkable food, can be loud, inattentive service more
