Tasty, Attentive, Loud 10/28/2008

I had a great dinner here - the special was sort of a pad thai pompano - but it does add up faster than a sushi bar. I still can't figure out how we spent $160 in less than an hour. But anyway! The food was great and our waiter was attentive - we had to be out by a certain time, and he got us out in time. The room is insanely loud - we were the ONLY people in the back room and we STILL couldn't hear ourselves . Here's my thing: I'm FABULOUS and I need the people at my table to know it. Work on that. Otherwise: great. Pros: Cuisine, Service Cons: Noise level, Hilariously expensive more

Best restaurant in town and amazing service! 10/16/2008

i cant say enough about the great experiences i have had at radius10. The staff is always super friendly, but not overbearing. Some nashville restaurants have these servers that want to share their whole life story with you and I appreciate staff that is professional and allow me to enjoy the company i am with. The food however is to DYE for, i swear i have gone twice by myself to kick t he cravings i have for it! The bar is great for solo dining, bartenders always remember me. Sorry about the other review saying the portions were too small, wake up to 2008! restaurants with ""enough for 4"" are the reason it is hard to get good food and americans are all overwieght! I would much prefer high quality, creative food and NOT enough for 2 people in each entree. Pros: best food in town, great service Cons: i cant afford it everyday! more

Perfect shrimp & scallops! Fluffy, creamy, 'cloud-like' grits! Solid filet. 9/29/2008

Had an excellent meal at Radius 10 on Saturday ~6:30p. We made reservations ~2 hours before, and were promptly seated at a quiet table in the back room. Much more romantic and quieter than the front / bar room. We had a basic brie cheese plate to start. Best thing was the dressing on the greens, very nice and slightly sweet. Solid wine list (if a tad pricey). For dinner we had the Shrimp & Scallops and the Filet. The grits with the shrimp were AMAZING! Best ever. Truly the highlight of the meal. I had to close my eyes to absorb the heavenly flavor! Like floating away on a cloud! You will also FLIP over the shiitake mushrooms that graced both plates. Portions were generous -- I ate my whole plate because the flavor was so incredible -- and I was too full to even glance at dessert! Prompt, courteous service. Bravo!! Well done!! Highly recommended. Pros: Grits, grits, grits! Valet parking. Prompt service. more

King of the Hill 8/13/2008

The food is fantastic but the dining experience is negatively impacted by the inept design of the restaurant space. The surfaces (walls, floors, ceilings) are not designed to absord sound, and a full house generates enough background noise to interfere with the enjoyment of the meal. This is a well thought out menu with variety and flair. The crab salad with watermellon, key lime curd and avacado is a must try summer first course, but the escargot with basil fed snails, wild mushrooms, and parsely lemon puree is a year 'round first course delight. The entrees included a ""Low Country"" Shrimp & Scallop with creamy grits, roasted corn, forest mushroom & Asparagus ragout, and a Moroccan Spiced Lamb Shank with harissa, baba, lemon, olives, mint and natural jus. Both were execellent, but you got the sense that everything coming out of the kitchen seemed to be well received by all of the tables around us. We ate at several restaurants during our short stay in Nashville (including Zola & Watermark) and the food served at Radius10 was King of the Hill. more

Not good with reservations 8/5/2008

Party of 10, had reservations at 8:30. We arrived a little after 8 to have drinks before dinner. We checked in with the host stand when we arrived. We were told great, just let them know when we are ready. About 8:25 we told them we were ready. They said it would be just a few minutes. About 8:45 we asked again. Still the same response. 9:00 the same response, 9:15 the same response along with "we got you covered". 9:25 we finally sat down.....this was 55 minutes past our reservation and and hour and 25 minutes past the time we walked in the door. This is unacceptable even for a Saturday night and it boils down to ill trained hosts and poor dining room management. I will say that our server was great. Very attentive. However, no one from management stopped by to apologize for our delay. Once we sat down it was as if it was business as usual for the restaurant. A simple apology would have sufficed. One of my guests did get his bar tab covered, but this was done on the sly and not offered to anyone else even though we all had to wait. I do love the food here, but it will probably be a while before I go back. Pros: great food, great wait staff Cons: poor dining room management & host station, reservations don't count more

WAY over-rated!! 8/4/2008

Very trendy, very ""to be seen"" kind of place. It was almost like you come here to be seen and say you've been there, and the food and drinks don't really matter. First and for most, don't expect anyone to get in a hurry what so ever. Service is not great, in fact I wouldn't call it good. I've had better service at Chili's! Second the food menu was very limited, and nothing sounded good. We tried several different appetizers, and the only one that was worth mentioning was the Kobe Beef Short Ribs, but there's not enough for 4, so keep that in mind. In fact, none of the appetizers were enough to feed 4. Next it takes forever to get a refill on a drink. But they do keep water at the table for you, so that was good. As far as entrees go, over-priced for what they were. I had the Kobe Flank Steak ($29) and it was about 6 oz. on top of a scoop of mashed potatoes with 3 stalks of asparagus. My friend had the special (7 oz. Filet), and it was pretty good. However not worth $40. And believe me, I have eaten at fine restaraunts all over, and I'm not afraid to spend the money, but you've got ta make up for it in service, or actually have good food. Drinks are very pricey for what they are as well. Lastly, it was my birthday, and the waiter just happened to overhear us talking about it, and he asked about it. Never did we ask for dessert, nnor did we expect it when he found out it was my birthday. After dinner, he brought out a big dessert plate with 2 different kinds on it, which was actually tasty and very nice of him. However, when the check came it was $12 on the bill. So in a nutshell, save your money and go to Stoney River, where you can spend the same and leave there having great service and amazing food!! Pros: Good view from the patio Cons: Food, service more

Cons: i cant afford to eat there every week. :) more

Food was great, bar was better!! 6/19/2008

We went on a Thursday night. Our reservation was at 7:30, but we arrived at 7:00 because we wanted to sit at the bar and enjoy a cocktail. The valet was very friendly. The hostess (black, straight hair) was not friendly and tersely told us that we were early for our reservation. We explained why we were early, and she just looked at us. We just told her we would wait in the bar. The bar was a little busy. The crowd was very nice... business casual, 25-40 year olds. We approached the bar and were greeted by the bartender (very short hair, tattoos on her wrist - maybe Heather was her name). There was a couple sitting at the bar with an open seat on each side. She asked them if they would mind to move over one seat so we could sit down. We were very impressed. We were fine with standing but even happier to sit. She then helped us choose our drinks. I had a yummy raspberry martini made with fresh raspberries, and my husband had a glass of wine she suggested (she allowed him to taste several). The other bartender working, a guy, early 30s, light brown hair, was great also. He and Heather(?) were fun together. Everyone at the bar seemed to know them. It was so comfortable that we were planning to stay at the bar. We decided to try a table since it was our first time. Our table was on the patio which is beautiful. However, it is so stagnant that we would never sit out there again. NO A/C!!! Our server was Dena. She was great, very informative and knowledgeable. I had the Low Country Shrimp & Scallops - Delicious, but basically $24 for 3 shrimp/3scallops and a big pile of really good grits. My husband had the Ahi Tuna - really good, adequately priced. All of their menus are great except for dessert - very boring. We decided to pass and went back to the bar. The male bartender made me an amazing banana martini, and Heather(?) helped my husband with scotch. All in all we loved it - Service was excellent and very friendly, overpriced though. Pros: Knowledgeable staff, bar is great, service great Cons: Poor hostess, a little overpriced, fake smile on manager more

Good food & Service but small portions and the hostess is an airhead 6/16/2008

We arrived on a Tuesday night without reservations there were (4) in our party. The patio was full and we decided to wait for a table at the bar. The bar service was slow especially considering you are paying $12.00 for a drink. I had called ahead and asked what the fish of the day was, the hostess said she did not know and when I got there I should ask my waiter!! The food was good we had the pre-fixed menu at $40.00 per person which consisted of a tomato salad, Shrimp & grits with a large scallop and strawberry short cake. The dessert was okay not that good the seafood & grits was great but the portion was small so was the salad portion. My other friend had the halibut which was $28.00 and the portion seemed alittle larger. The train came by while we were dinning so you really could not hear much conversation. The waiter was great very professional. Overall it was good just not great. Pros: Valet, decor, food quality, wait staff Cons: drink prices, lack of bar service, hostess is not very good, The Train!! more
