Editorial review from Citysearch 7/28/2012

DO NOT GO HERE! Horrible ""customer service,"" only size 10 dresses to try on, and very crowded. I reluctantly went through there because they were the only shop in town that held the dress I wanted for my bridesmaids. I really wish I had not! During the appt. they did not even help us, we basically fended for ourselves. Once my girls had to get fitted, they measured everyone wrong, so all the sizes were either too big or too small. Even though it was their fault, they still are making my girls pay for alterations! The reason they 'get out of paying' is because they make you write down the size they suggest -- although according to the owner, Laurie, they never tell you a size to pick out -- that way they can say YOU picked the size. Laurie is a very rude and condescending person and does not act like how a manager or owner should. I went to her saying I was very disappointed in the service from her store and she merely brushed it off and said she was going to leave my complaint for the other owner to deal with. She is a very rude person with a disgusting character. As for the others, they seem clueless as to what they were doing and were very unhelpful as well. Save yourself the time and money, and go somewhere else! more

WOW!! Don't waste your time 11/6/2011

I can't believe people spend their money there. They are by far the worst customer service I have ever come in contact. Where to start. We were shopping for my best friends wedding dress, bridesmaids, and tuxes for the entire wedding party. 1st this place is so DIRTY, gross and run down. From the tacky wall paper, to the gross dressing rooms it was the start of the disappointment. My friend actual had an appointment none of the other customers their even had one. They asked her what type of dress she was looking for and then pulled a few dresses for her. They said they would help lace her up when she was ready. When she was ready to be laced up none was there. I ended up lacing her up in all of her dresses. There is no such thing as customer service at princess bride. 2. When we found a style of dress that she like we asked if there was something close to what she had on. This oompa loompa orange tacky woman told us that they had none and told her that this was the most expensive dress $1,600. She assumed that my friend could not afford this dress when in fact my friends budget was $3,000. (this dress looked like a 500 dress) She treated us awful. When your a bridal dress shopping you're suppose to feel special and it's suppose to be one of the best parts of the wedding. YOU WILL NOT GET the customer service you want or expect here!!!! Brides to be do not waste your time here. Take you money to the cities and you'll see what it feels like to be treated they way you should. more

Terrible Customer Service (once you've put your money down) 7/13/2011

Where do I start? I have had not only one bad experience, but three. For my wedding, None of my bridesmaids were happy with their dresses. They were measured ahead of time, and when the dresses came in none if them fit. All of my bridesmaids had to have alterations done, and there was no sympathy/empathy or willingness to make it right on the owner's part. I am in a wedding this summer and was fitted for a bridesmaid dress a few months back (it was the bride's choice to do business here, not mine). I was quite a bit heavier when I was fitted for the dress--I have lost 13 pounds since. When I received my dress, it just fit! In fact, the waist is a little tight! It's very lucky that I lost weight, or I would be spending lots of money in alterations. Also, my sister was looking for a wedding dress recently, and we called on a Saturday morning to ask about a dress she had tried on there. I realize that Saturday mornings are probably the busiest times in the week, but I was treated rudely on the phone. The salesperson basically said, ""we are really busy right now, I can't help you."" I said, ""Do you want me to call back later?"" They said, ""Yes."" That was it. No initiation on their part to get my number or follow up with me. Needless to say, they lost my sister's business. The friend who has a wedding this summer had also had a very poor experience with them. She was told they would custom make her a junior bridesmaid dress and once the dress was ordered, her twelve year old sister was ordered a woman sized dress with a slit up to her butt. There has been no effort to right the wrong, despite my friend's complaints. They have also been very inflexible with their scheduling and unapologetic about it. I don't know if the owner is swimming in dollars or what, but apparently you can be a snot, and a dishonest one and get away with it in this town. I have read other positive reviews, and am just not sure how it happened. She is so sweet and nice at first, but once you have put your money down, if there is a problem, don't expect any sugar and spice! Just the cold hard facts--they are not helping you! I would pick David's Bridal or the Twin Cities. It's just not worth it to do business with them! more

Princess Bride made my specail day a dream!!! 10/13/2010

I have lived in duluth all my life and always gone to princess bride for all my prom and high school dance dresses. Not only do they have the most stunning dresses in the area but a wonderful staff as well. When it was time to look for the dress i've been dreaming of wearing since i was a little girl i thought i would have some fun and look all over the area. that turned out to be a BIG mistake!!! i went to davids bridal and i needed an appointment!!??? Really!!?? i saw their dresses and was very disappointed with the quality. everything about them looked cheap. I was not happy with any of the other area bridal shops. they just did not have the quality personal care or selection of beautiful dresses like i found at princess bride. when i did go to princess bride i happened to see a couple of dresses that looked very similar to the dresses at davids bridal but the materials were quality and you could tell they were well made. They were also a couple of hundred dollars cheaper!!!! now how can you go wrong with princess bride when you get beautiful quality and better price! I found find my dream dress at princess bride along with bridesmaid gowns, flowergirl, tuxes for the guys, invitations, napkins, shoes, veil, tiara, and they were wonderful to work with! my whole wedding turned out beautiful and i would highly recommend any bride to go to princess bride. They are second to none!!! Thank-you Princess Bride!! more

Wonderful! 1/8/2009

Princess Bride was wonderful. My bridesmaids and I received wonderful service from the friendly staff while picking out, trying on, and altering our dresses. Our dresses all turned out beautiful! more

Horrible! 10/4/2007

I came in to Princess Bridal back in July for my first dress shopping trip. I came with my mother, grandmother, and sister. When I arrived I specifically said I was getting married in Jamaica and needed a light, airy dress. The sales lady started grabbing all these heavy dresses with really heavy material. I kept saying ""No"" but she kept bringing them in and putting them in front of the dresses I'd picked. When I started trying on BM dresses (since they are lighter) instead she actually had the nerve to say ""Um, but don't you want to feel special on your wedding day?"". Also, when we arrived we were the only ones there and were given a large dressing room. As soon as I started trying on the BM dresses we were being asked every five minutes if I was done yet and that they needed the room. At one point they told my 81 year old grandmother she could no longer sit in a chair in the showroom because some girl's Mom (who was handicapped) needed to sit there. They did give us a chair in the dressing room, but made my Grandmother feel like she was in the way. I understand the mom deserves a seat as well, but kicking my Grandmother out of the show room was very inappropriate in my opinion. They were extremely rude and the dresses were over-priced. I found my dress that day but bought it for $90 less at another store. Pros: Had a good selection of gowns Cons: Rude and overpriced more

Worst bridal experience yet 8/8/2007

I went to Princess Bride with my mom and sister. A woman, who I'm told was the owner, immediately started calling me ""little one"" and treating me like a child, despite the fact that I'm in my mid-20's. Luckily, she had another employee help me. The girl helping me was helpful and treated me with respect. However, the woman decided that this ""little one"" needed her help as well and started bringing random dresses to me. She didn't even know what I was looking for (a destination gown) and was bringing large, heavy, and hideous things over that I doubt I would be willing to try on if I were in my 50's. Then she insisted that my sister had been one of her brides, which was embarrassing for her because she was making a big deal about it and saying that she never forgets a face. Maybe next time she should check the ring finger before making a production out of nothing. They also do not give you the dress designer, and I would assume that's because they know it's the only way they can get someone to return to their store. As much as I liked one dress that I found there, I would not go back. It was an awful experience and I refused to go dress shopping for weeks after that. Cons: Terrible service, overcrowded floor more

Wonderful! 9/11/2006

I went to Princess Bride looking for my dream wedding dress. After a while, I found it and tried it on. The woman that was helping me must have seen how much I loved it and said I'll give it to you for $200. So I did!!! They were wonderful! more

Surprised 4/13/2006

my friend and I were shoping for our prom dresses and one of the ladys there was very friendly and helpful she pulled dresses off the racks for us to try on untill we found some we realy liked in the end i spent less then 200 on a dress i realy wanted more

not a good choice 3/15/2006

I thought Princess Bride would be great for my bridesmaid. Well, I was wrong. The last thing I needed before my wedding was the staff being rude and abnoxious to my bridal party. I ended up having to apologize profusely to my family and friends for the survice they received. The store is extremely under staffed and crowded. more
