Planet Hair maybe closed these days but the once owner Edie LaVelle is still in LS doing the booth rental thing since having her son 217-5195 she's at The Masters on 2nd st more

I started going to Edie a few months before my 20th High School reunion in New York. I was planning on having her 'fix' my hair just for the reunion and then go back to dying it myself and getting a haircut once every 6 months, Edie impressed me right from the start because she actually asked my some very good questions (lifestyle, what I liked and disliked about past hairstyles, whether I thought my style was conservative, daring or somewhere in between). She then made some suggestions and I told her to do whatever she thought would look best (I'm a control freak so that was a huge vote of confidence right there). She did not steer me wrong - I love her style and personality. I've been going to her for the past 18 months now and couldn't be happier. At least once or twice a month a perfect stranger stops me to ask for the name and number of my colorist. Bottom line - if you want a stylist who will listen to you and make you look and feel beautiful then Edie is your girl. Pros: Truly listens to her clients Cons: None that I've found so far more

Edie is a fantastic hair colorist/stylist, provided she's in the mood & she's not rushed & she shows up. I am always happy when all these things line up together at the same time, but that's a rarity. There are many times Edie has no-showed & had someone else fill in for her, which was usually fine because she does train her staff well. She is forever complaining about the staff & yelling at them in front of EVERYONE, making it very uncomfortable for both the staff & the customers. This may explain the high turn-over. There were many times when I felt my appointment was rushed b/c Edie had personal matters that interested her more than the job at hand, even though I waited patiently 1/2 hour past my appt. time so she could smoke a cigarette & then I paid full price for the rushed job. Edie is an EXTREMELY talented artist in the hair department. You will almost always walk out liking your hair, you just take your chances on how enjoyable the visit will be & if you'll actually get Edie. Pros: great color & knowledgable hair artists Cons: mood swings, timeliness, attitude, uncomfortable atmosphere more

i was a formal employee of ph and i myself miss it very much! i am at a new salon and only about a min away from edie and krystal. i wasn't able to do booth rent because of lack of cleints from moving. other than that i want to say that ph was the best salon i had ever worked at. the staff was incredible! edie made sure everyone was trained to do hair the same. that was very comforting to know, well for me at least. edie took me straight out of school and trained me. i know thats why i have the clients i have today. the work that edie and krystal do is absolutely amazing. kristal has been coloring my hair and here and there i have my boss do it but its no the same. kristal and i have the same coloring technique which makes it very comforting even as a stylest to know that your hair will turn out as you wanted it! kristals also fixed man mistakes done on my hair it believe it was bad. go see edie and kristal at blades off of third street your gonna leave there completely satisfied! more

Even though Edie has closed PH she is still the best girl for the job. I have went to her for many years now b4 & now after PH. I have lived all over this country & been to ALOT of stylist. She some how never surprises me. She knows her stuff & is extremely talented. Allthough the salon she's currently renting out of isn't "top of the line" she still has her little cubical decorated cute & everyone there is very nice. She also still has one of her girls from PH with her (that she trained) so if u can't see Edie then have her hook u up with Cristal. I recently got married & hired Edie to come out & do all the make up & hair. She stayed through all the pictures & made sure everyone (including the guys) looked flawless. I know she's done alot of photo shoots, commercials & weddings through out the states over the years. But she never made any of us feel second to the "bigger things" she has done. Our pictures came out beautiful & she made me so much calmer & feel like a princess. Anyway I just wanted to express to anyone that is hesitant to call because it's not PH any more to get over it. Edie was & is PH. Remember she's the one that trained all of her girls b4 they could take a "real" client. As I see someone has allready listed her number. Pros: Edie more

I was quite sad to find out that Planet Hair closed. I do wish Edie the of best luck. I tried to call their old number and it is confirmed, that you cannot get the new number from the recording. It simply says the number has been disconnected. I for one am going to miss Planet Hair and all the gals!!! It truly was a great salon! more

Hi I'm Edie, the 1 the next review is shooting down. I know that this is not a real client bcuz if it was then they would know that I closed the big PH over 2yrs ago, so I have had no employees to yell at. I have NEVER EVER not shown up or do I pass people off. I may run behind a little but remember I am depending on clients to run on time & do what they schd to do but, I will always do what WE have decided is best just as I would do for the waiting client. If I'm running late I try to call the next client so that they can make the decision to run a quick erand first. I love what I do so I needed to respond to this. TY for hearing me out, I gaurentee my work 100% Pros: now a smaller salon, no distractions Cons: nothing more

I recently moved to the Lee's Summit area and searched through this site to find recommended Salons. Planet Hair was one that kept on coming up so I gave it a try. I was really nervous about going to a new place, and was very nervous because I was planning on cutting 10 inches off of my hair. My stylist was Missy and she was so helpful. I brought pictures and she really sat down and understood what I wanted to do with my new look. During the hair cut she spent a lot of time making sure that it was perfect. Afterwards Missy explained how to style my hair and made sure that I had no questions. It was a great experience and I will defiently go back. Pros: N/A Cons: I called that day and got in that day! Hair cut was only $25, well worth it! more

Most of the time I was there she was demanding of the other stylists and I didn't appreciate having to listen to her order people and yell to the back for someone-it just made the atmosphere not as fun. She just has a strong personality, but that probably contributes to the great salon that it is. I would recommend this salon to anyone who is looking. Great salon! I got possibly my favorite haircut ever! The prices are more than reasonable and the staff is very pleasant and friendly. I will continue to get my hair cut there. Pros: Stylist time to discuss before cutting, price, hours Cons: none more
