All the staff here go out of their way to accommodate diners. Very efficient, kind and professional. It was a very nice experience. Great place to eat. The server recommended the Pirate Bowl and it was awesome. The burgers are out of this world too! more

You must go on the weekends to see the reggae band that plays by the pool. They are a lot of fun! Had the hummus first. Enough for two people. It had more of a olive oil & limely kind of taste which was refreshing to the over garlicky kind you find elsewhere. Entrees were a fish, shrimp & portobello mushrooms dish with a creamy sauce and a pasta with a mix of seafood in a red sauce. Both were really good. Our server was the best. Very polite, friendly and the service was great. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner too. more

I really like this place. It's on the waterway, free parking, and staff is really friendly. They have a little tiki bar and a main dining area. The food is different. I found it fresh and portioned appropriately. There is a strong emphasis on seafood and the dishes are an eclectic array of Caribbean & South American flavors. I thought it was priced reasonably well. To other reviewers that complain about prices for locals - you get what you pay for. Maybe you should just go to Publix and go home and eat. more

Located right on New River with a great view of downtown. So you get to sit back, enjoy the breeze on your face and the boats going by on the waterway. It's all decked out in everything pirate. The walls are painted in a a neat pirate decor too. The waitresses are friendly and have a good memory for locals. I always get the ceviche and the pirate bowl. It's just a really nice dining experience. more

Great location and atmosphere. The Ilha Bela grouper was fantastic! Mainly because I love coconut milk dishes, but the quality of the fish was apparent. Service was also excellent and very professional. Well worth it. Next time I'll bring the whole family. more

We had a delightful waitress that made our meal a great experience, even with the restaurant being very busy on a weekend night. She was also very knowledgable about food, and I have been in the food industry for many years. The curry shrimp was what should be expected at any indian restaurant, but then there was the pirate bowl - a mix of clams, shrimp, fish, mussels in a delicious wine sauce and served with bread so you can soak up every last drop! I've been thinking about it since and will be back soon. more

It is defintely not your average restaurant food. I'll even say it's gourmet, which is not what I expected.... The staff is very knowledgable about their menu and are able to answer any questions. Martinique Catch of the Day & England Brunch Sandwich - 5 stars! Well prepared and had good presentation. Killer service, killer food and killer reggae band! more

Excellent service & food - 2nd time here. We came here before we left on a cruise and had to come back before we headed home. Great menu, great presentation and great portions. Best burger and pumpkin pie ever. We look forward to coming back on our next trip. more

Great overall. Great food & service. Our waitress' recommendations were perfect. The Kobe Burger was one of the best I've ever had and my boyfriend's Barbados Fish with portobello mushrooms was delicious. Love the atmosphere. Reggae music plays in the background as you take in the waterway and boats passing by. Thanks for the great time! more

Third visit here. Excellent service, very friendly place. We love Michelle and will come back for her and the atmosphere. The mojitos were awesome along with the Brazilian fruit drinks. The Bequia Mahi is spicy, but good. Compliments to the cook. more

Such a lovely place along the river with great food and the service here is outstanding! It was such a rainy weekend that they opened the upstairs dining area. Such a nice view of downtown from the 2nd floor. I started off with a tomato mozzarella salad with nice big slices of fresh basil. Then the ilha bela shrimp which was topped with a creamy brazilian cheese that was just delightful. My friend had a cup of the lobster chowder and the shrimp alfredo pasta. We were both pleased with our meals and we will definitely be returning in the future... more

The Pirate Republic has the best seafood in Fort Lauderdale. We came on a Saturday night and it was busy. Best to make a reservation if you want to sit out on the dock. Their food is seasoned and cooked perfectly, and it tastes fresh. The Portuguese fish was wonderful and my husband said his steak and shrimp was the best he's had in a long time. We plan on making this our regular date night spot. more

This place is tucked away in a neighborhood near the Andrews Ave Publix. Good place to have dinner if your taking in a show at the Broward Center (you can take the water taxi over). It's right on the water and has a good view of downtown. We started off with the clams and mussels appetizer which comes in a wine sauce and served with bread. Very good. For entrees we had the garlic shrimp and the mixed seafood pasta. Both entrees were decent sized portions and all the seafood tasted fresh. I'll definitely be back to check out the huge burger the guy at the table next to us was eating! more

Set right on New River, this place has an excellent view and an extensive pirate motif. The menu is huge and there is something for everyone - seafood, chicken and steak. The dishes we ordered were excellent - the barbados shrimp and the jack chicken (made with jack daniels!). The staff is very friendly from the waitress to the busser. We shared the chocolate mousse for dessert and it was deliciously rich. We honestly had a really good time and a good meal. They sell pirate flags too. more

Food here is like nothing you will find anywhere else around here. I can't even pronounce some of the dishes, but they are truly original. We started off with the provance shrimp appetizer. Lots of garlic! We were wiping the plate clean with the bread. I had the Malta fish which was so good that I wanted to eat it all, but it's huge and there was no way. I thought the kalamata olives was a strange ingredient but it proved to work. My partner had the Spain Fish. Again, strange to have hard boiled eggs on a fish dish, but he cleaned his plate. Everything tastes fresh and the portions are enough to take some home. more

OMG !!> As a Ft lauderdale native, this place is a shame! The prices are downright insulting !!! The amount of food (when an if you get it) is pathetic. These prices belong in Palm Beach, and the STAFF SUCKS!!!\r \r STAY AWAY !!!!!! more

I went one night off the cuff, I really love the atmosphere. The food was wonderful. The bartender Anita was fun and sweet and incredibly helpful. This is going to be a regular stop for me. more

I visited with group of 9 on a Tuesday night. It started well as we visited the bar area for drinks while we waited for others in our party. We were seated and things started off ok. Then it went horribly wrong. Aparently on this day, they were terribly understaffed. It was explained by the waitress, when we were frustrated and irritated that despite the few customers in the restaurant, we still hadn't received our food, "sorry we're short staffed". We found out after another 45 minutes of waiting that there was no cook, the owner was cooking and there were only 2 servers for the entire restaurant. OK. everyone is entitled to a bad day. Unfortunately, we were not treated well by our server and she didn't handle our concerns professionally. Our group went from being happy and patient to irritated and hungry. Sadly, even after a nearly 2 hour wait, when the food did come out, some of the orders were wrong, and I never got my entree. It went from bad to worse when we asked to see the owner... I'll spare you that. I believe this was an off night. The food that was delivered was good. I did like the atmosphere. To be fair, maybe when they are fully staffed, this would be a good choice. However, you may not know this little tidbit until after you've waited an hour and a half for your food. more
